You're just like everyone else. There aren't enough tears to cry for innocent people being killed around the world, so you feel bad intellectually, but not emotionally.

Everyone on the planet does the same, otherwise we'd all go mad.
I just thought I would like you to know that I like you.

I'm pretty sure that if you live in Iraq, you're a hairs breath away from being killed at the whim of someone else anyway. Gangsters, religious nuts, militants, etc.

I mean... you could technically say Muslims are being targeted and slaughtered in Iraq, and that's mostly by other Muslims. Granted being a non-Muslim in an Islamic country is dangerous to begin with, but I think it has to be contrasted in the greater whole; That Iraq just isn't a safe place to live in period.

This really sucks. And as a fellow Christian, this has got to really hurt Bush. Perhaps he's learned a bit in that. He has turned a lot of decisions over to other people since he is clearly in way over his head. :-(

I'm from Mosul, I've still got family there (grandmother, aunts, etc.). Muslims have begun targeting and killing Christians there (I'm Christian, and so are my family). Nine have been killed in the last week, including a 15 year old relative of mine. My mom's terrified, I'm terrified. Fuck the difference in religion, politics, economics, we're talking about innocent people that did nothing.

this is the wrong forum to post this story on, Christianity is most of leftist GAFs worst enemy.

Wow I just realized that development arrested is maybe the biggest douchebag on this entire message board. Do yourself a favor. Do the world a favor and either move to a deserted island, or just kill yourself.

OP, I really hope your family makes it out alright. That would have to be, by far, the scariest situation ever. Good luck to you and yours.

very respectable comment, i wish i would hear more mainstream and popular Muslims take a stand against this extremism on the rise in most of the middle east. well, maybe they are and i just dont hear about it.

Here's a quick way not to be killed then:
Stop being religious.
DING DING DING

christian fighters (american army) invaded iraq and killed civilians.
iraqi's are just returning the favour without the invasion bit.

so our army is Christian fighters? and Iraqi Muslims payback us by killing their fellow Iraqis simply because they are Christian?

wow maybe I was wrong, we do need to put alot more money into education in this country.

I had him on ignore a long time ago. It really annoys me when I have that empty space between posts that I have to scroll past, but it's a small price to pay for no developmentarrested.

between this and the muslim baby gassing thread, I'm hoping a asteroid hits this fucking planet and wipes us all out. we've forsaken humanity so we no longer deserve to win

I agree, after all it's in the Ten Commandments to 'never kill thy innocent'..

Both.

americans have been killing muslims, not christians. the reason is due to greed and oil, nothing more, a very "non-christian" motivation.
Greed is directly tied into any organized religion. And yes it is a Christian Army.

I won't argue that.
Just wow! You are stupid as hell

the world has always been a fucked up place. now we just have satellites and internet so we can actually see it taking place.

don't fret though, alot of good still happens. unfortunately "bad" news gets higher ratings than "good" news.

Thanks to everyone for the support. Hopefully, one day we won't have to worry about things like these anymore (Christian, Muslim, Atheist, etc.).

Hey DA-

Explain to me why you are so desperate for attention that you act out in a thread about someone's family being in danger. What makes you so important?

Wow, I never thought I would actually use my ignore list. DevelopmentArrested, feel proud, you are the one and only person on my list. You are the worst kind of filth on this planet.

He's one of the worst users on GAF, which says quite a lot.

SoulPlaya, I hope your family is ok and is able to get out safely if at all possible.

And, I really can't believe some of the people in this thread.

If we can design a nuke that creates a blast zone shaped just like Iraq we could off some Christians and the Muslims at the same time. I bet the Americans already have something like this but they've yet to find a way to pull out their military. Maybe they have a difficult time finding Iraq's boarders.

Innocent people getting killed somewhere.

NEWS AT 11

I bet you only post this in Japan threads and anything having to do with religiously motivated murders. Bravo!!!!!

The people who criticized ArrestedDevelopment give me lulz. You don't think the war in Iraq has to do with racism? Anything related to religion is related to racism. Americans go in for Oil (which is so much more honorable) and religious extremists (i.e. citizens) convince themselves that the evil infidels need to die.

Do you honestly think America would have invaded Iraq had Iraq citizens been white Christians. I don't fucking think so.

I get your point, but this has nothing to do with this. This thread is about an innocent group of people (who have never retaliated back, and don't have the capability to do so) being targeted and killed. Innocent Muslims have also been targeted, we know, but this has more to do with longstanding hatred, not the American invasion. You want to discuss that point, go create another thread about it.

I don't get the Japan reference. But sue me for being unsurprised at people getting killed in Iraq.

And I hear you don't want to cure cancer. So who's the asshole now?

I'm sorry to hear that, OP.

As a Christian living in a western nation, it's easy to think Christians have it easy everywhere since we do. But there's really a lot of persecution in a lot of places, and it's sad. I'll pray for your family.

As am I.

Al Qaeda being behind this doesn't surprise me at all. They've killed far more muslims than anyone else, so I doubt they have any kind of respect for any other religions.

They are the perfect example of a modern day savage.

So Al-Qaeda is behind it? The OP makes it sound like Muslim Joe Six-Pack is targetting Christian civilians.

That's what CNN is reporting a Mosul official as saying.

So why is this is a story? Last I checked, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Iraqis have been killed or displaced within the last few years. This is a story because it's affecting Christians?

Why are so many people so damn hostile towards this. The specific story is that Christians are being forced out and killed in Mosul, if they don't leave within a certain space of time (40 days I believe) then they will be eradicated (that's what the threats are). I posted it because, a) this directly affects my family and I'm genuinely worried about them, b) it's a group of people in Iraq that few talk about, you hear about the Sunnis, Shia, Kurds 24/7 but never a scarce mention is given to a group of people that's arguably had it the worst. C) Because it's a legit news story.

I understand the terrible things many Christians have done throughout the years. I'm, however, talking about the Christians in Iraq (Assyrians, Chaldeans, etc.) who have always been a small minority that has done no harm to no one.

Of course, not all Muslims are responsible for this. I used to live in Mosul, had plenty of Muslim friends who treated my family and people well. Whether this is just Al Qaeda or not is a mystery because this has actually been going on for decades, long before Al Qaeda came to Iraq. Now, though, that lawlessness has taken over Mosul, the Christians there are getting hit the hardest.

Shit, I don't get it. A group of Muslim kids get gassed in a mosque (horrible act, as well) and there are pages of sympathy. I post this and get a good deal of backlash. Both acts are targeting innocent people that don't deserve it, can't we at least agree on that?

Essentially, yes. It's still a minor story generally not reported in the MSM. SoulPlaya is bringing attention to it because it hits close to home and I can't really blame him for it.

I imagine for some, the simple fact that there are Christians in Iraq is news in itself. It's also worth pointing out that the chaos in Iraq is not affecting everyone the same way. While Christians are among the many victims, the Kurds further to the North have it much easier.

I think it has everything to do with the fact that you posted it. You keep attacking Islam in so many other threads...and you seem less concerned about the innocent people dying in this case, and more about pushing your agenda.

I understand your plight and realize it has affected you personally. However, I'd wager that Shias and Kurds had it worse during Sadaam's reign. I don't want to make light of the situation, either. In general, however, people only care if they share a commonality with those persecuted. That's the only thing that bothers me. For me, an innocent is an innocent.

I said it in the first post, fuck the difference in religion. This isn't an attack on Muslims, I was in a hurry when I wrote the OP and I just wrote what was in the articles.

I'll make it clear, right now. I have serious problems with certain parts of the religion of Islam. I, however, have always made it clear that I have no problem with Muslims, I've been friends with them and lived around them many times. This is about innocent people that have been targeted, and have been targeted for decades. It just pisses me off when my family has to live in fear, gets killed, and gets kicked out of their homes, and no one knows about it.

How the hell have I been pushing an agenda? How? You make it sound as if I made this story up. I suggest you re-read this thread.

It pisses me off that most families in Iraq have to life in fear, get killed, or become displaced. Most Americans either don't know about it or don't care.

You're speaking the absolute truth. And the problem is that the violence never really goes down, it just shifts from one area of the country to another. Maybe one day that will change for Muslims, Christians, Atheists, etc.

Is there any indication as to why this is happening now?

The situation over there has been shitty and violent for a while, but these things tend to ebb and flow. Was there some change in the local dynamics that stoked cultural anger, or is there a concentrated effort to clear out Christians from a certain area that another group wants to control?

Mosul is a rich oil city that various groups are trying to control. All of which are hostile (some more than others) to the small Christian minorities there. Some blame this on Al Qaeda, others blame this on insurgents, and "extreme nationalists" (some Christians have proposed just moving to the Kurdish lands where it is safer), and others blame this on Kurds who don't want Christians in their area (they consider Mosul their area).

The Christians really began to be targeted there (more aggressively, at least) once Al Qaeda came into the city and began increasing the ethnic and religious strife (between Sunni and Shia) in the area.
