Everyone on the planet does the same, otherwise we'd all go mad.
Yeah, I am and yes it does, definitley.Instigator said:Are you Assyrian?
If so, does your distinct ethnic identity also make you a target, on top of religion?

I'm from Mosul, I've still got family there (grandmother, aunts, etc.). Muslims have begun targeting and killing Christians there (I'm Christian, and so are my family). Nine have been killed in the last week, including a 15 year old relative of mine. My mom's terrified, I'm terrified. Fuck the difference in religion, politics, economics, we're talking about innocent people that did nothing.

Stop being religious.
DING DING DING
christian fighters (american army) invaded iraq and killed civilians.
iraqi's are just returning the favour without the invasion bit.

I agree, after all it's in the Ten Commandments to 'never kill thy innocent'..
Both.
americans have been killing muslims, not christians. the reason is due to greed and oil, nothing more, a very "non-christian" motivation.
Greed is directly tied into any organized religion. And yes it is a Christian Army.
I won't argue that.

NEWS AT 11
I get your point, but this has nothing to do with this. This thread is about an innocent group of people (who have never retaliated back, and don't have the capability to do so) being targeted and killed. Innocent Muslims have also been targeted, we know, but this has more to do with longstanding hatred, not the American invasion. You want to discuss that point, go create another thread about it.Agent Ghost said:The people who criticized ArrestedDevelopment give me lulz. You don't think the war in Iraq has to do with racism? Anything related to religion is related to racism. Americans go in for Oil (which is so much more honorable) and religious extremists (i.e. citizens) convince themselves that the evil infidels need to die.
Do you honestly think America would have invaded Iraq had Iraq citizens been white Christians. I don't fucking think so.
I bet you only post this in Japan threads and anything having to do with religiously motivated murders. Bravo!!!!!

Al Qaeda being behind this doesn't surprise me at all. They've killed far more muslims than anyone else, so I doubt they have any kind of respect for any other religions.
They are the perfect example of a modern day savage.
CHYME said:So Al-Qaeda is behind it? The OP makes it sound like Muslim Joe Six-Pack is targetting Christian civilians.
Why are so many people so damn hostile towards this. The specific story is that Christians are being forced out and killed in Mosul, if they don't leave within a certain space of time (40 days I believe) then they will be eradicated (that's what the threats are). I posted it because, a) this directly affects my family and I'm genuinely worried about them, b) it's a group of people in Iraq that few talk about, you hear about the Sunnis, Shia, Kurds 24/7 but never a scarce mention is given to a group of people that's arguably had it the worst. C) Because it's a legit news story.CHYME said:So why is this is a story? Last I checked, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Iraqis have been killed or displaced within the last few years. This is a story because it's affecting Christians?

I understand the terrible things many Christians have done throughout the years. I'm, however, talking about the Christians in Iraq (Assyrians, Chaldeans, etc.) who have always been a small minority that has done no harm to no one.
Of course, not all Muslims are responsible for this. I used to live in Mosul, had plenty of Muslim friends who treated my family and people well. Whether this is just Al Qaeda or not is a mystery because this has actually been going on for decades, long before Al Qaeda came to Iraq. Now, though, that lawlessness has taken over Mosul, the Christians there are getting hit the hardest.
Shit, I don't get it. A group of Muslim kids get gassed in a mosque (horrible act, as well) and there are pages of sympathy. I post this and get a good deal of backlash. Both acts are targeting innocent people that don't deserve it, can't we at least agree on that?
I said it in the first post, fuck the difference in religion. SoulPlaya said:I said it in the first post, fuck the difference in religion. This isn't an attack on Muslims, I was in a hurry when I wrote the OP and I just wrote what was in the articles.
I'll make it clear, right now. I have serious problems with certain parts of the religion of Islam. I, however, have always made it clear that I have no problem with Muslims, I've been friends with them and lived around them many times. This is about innocent people that have been targeted, and have been targeted for decades. It just pisses me off when my family has to live in fear, gets killed, and gets kicked out of their homes, and no one knows about it.
How the hell have I been pushing an agenda? How? You make it sound as if I made this story up. I suggest you re-read this thread.
You're speaking the absolute truth. And the problem is that the violence never really goes down, it just shifts from one area of the country to another. Maybe one day that will change for Muslims, Christians, Atheists, etc.CHYME said:It pisses me off that most families in Iraq have to life in fear, get killed, or become displaced. Most Americans either don't know about it or don't care.
Mosul is a rich oil city that various groups are trying to control. All of which are hostile (some more than others) to the small Christian minorities there. Some blame this on Al Qaeda, others blame this on insurgents, and "extreme nationalists" (some Christians have proposed just moving to the Kurdish lands where it is safer), and others blame this on Kurds who don't want Christians in their area (they consider Mosul their area).Mandark said:Is there any indication as to why this is happening now?
The situation over there has been shitty and violent for a while, but these things tend to ebb and flow. Was there some change in the local dynamics that stoked cultural anger, or is there a concentrated effort to clear out Christians from a certain area that another group wants to control?
