We’ve heard that you’ll be able to customise and design your own personal CHROMEHOUND. How much freedom does the player have in this?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: There are some rules, for example on weight or on power consumption, but within their range, you can freely customize your own mechs. Basic assembly is about joining parts like building blocks, there is no rule on jointing, so you can form whatever shape you want

The Xbox Live aspect of CHROMEHOUNDS sounds extremely exciting. Can you give us an introduction to how the multiplayer game will play?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: There are three Live modes to play. First of all, in the main mode, you are dispatched to represent one of the three nations. You have to battle and expand that nation’s territory. The second mode is related to the above territorial dispute. You will fight against COM. The last mode is outside the interstate war or a specific squad. You will have free battles among online players. In this mode, you will have battle rule options rather than the regular rules.

Players will be able to take the role of Tactics Commander. What does this mean and what will the experience be like?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: The Commander has little to do with a direct attack, but the Commander watches all radar systems and monitors both friends’ and enemies’ movements to provide proper information to friends. You can still win without Commander, but this role type is essential if you want to increase winning percentage while minimizing team damage. There is a certain challenge to leading the squad by telecommunication.

What plans do you have for squads and clans of players?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: Just imagine a role of a football team; you can play alone but there is a limit to what an individual can do. The main concept of this title is to cooperate with each mech to bring about a greater synergy and beat superior rivals. In addition, you can exchange money and parts within a squad, so you can easily support new members.

We’ve heard that the ultimate prize in the online mode is ‘world domination’. Does this mean the online mode in CHROMEHOUND will feature a persistent world with squads of HOUNDS fighting over territory?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: In the gameplay, players belong to one of the three nations, and fight for territories. If two of the three nations disappear, meaning the others take over their capitals, or if two nations draw, the game will come to an end. The game will then be reset and three nations will start a new battle.

Do you think CHROMEHOUNDS will help to raise the profile of the Xbox 360 in Japan?

Toshifumi Nabeshima: I can guarantee it.
