Chrono Cross Arrange Album sample

Holy shit! I never ever thought that this would see the light of day! CC is one of my all time favorite soundtracks for sure! Mitsuda is God!

...I feel like the topic was derailed with the original post. The worst... *sighs*

What? A person isn't allowed to have an opinion if it isn't the same that everyone has?

That was feigned exasperation, sorry. I just found it amusing since Chrono Cross' soundtrack unites people who dislike and like the game (i.e., literally "everyone else").

On-topic, I have to admit that I found his original logic convincing, and the first arrangement seems mediocre. Shimomura's arranged versions of Legend Of Mana, for instance, were much better.

heh

This has always been my favourite of Mitsuda's works, but it was dying for a Creid-style rearrangement. And now we have one. :)

Does anyone know the track list?

Oh my God, an arranged version of the theme for the battle with FATE would send me into uncontrollable heart palpitations!!!

Anyone know what track that sample is?

Honestly, the samples or instruments or whatever used for the CC OST are some of the most natural and realistic I think I ever heard come out of the PSX, anyway. The OST is extremely listenable all by itself.

It's Cleft of Dimension.

Hasn't been revealed yet. :P

Wow! This is a must buy (well, when it gets here).

I haven't even starting playing through Chrono Cross yet despite owning it for years, but I've been listening to the soundtrack for the past few months and it's incredible. So many great tracks on it.

I loved this one so much I learnt it on guitar:
Voyage ~Home World~

Chrono Cross's soundtrack has been my favorite ever since ever. This shall be interesting to listen to when it comes out

Is it just me, or has Time of the Dreamwatch aka The Dream that Time Dreams never gotten as much love as the other tracks? I think it's my favorite song in the whole damn soundtrack.

The music playing is a sample from the Chrono Cross Arrange Album. Apparently, Mitsuda is planning to release it in time for Chrono Cross's tenth anniversary next year. I never was a fan of Chrono Cross's soundtrack. I thought it was some of Mitsuda's worst so far, but that's a pretty nice song that's playing.
WTF are you on? CC OST is amazing.

I for one welcome this.

Oh man, so beautiful. Nice to have this as little gift.

Mitsuda is such a genius. He deserves recognition outside of the video game world for what he has done.

You are allowed to have an opinion. But we are allowed to think you are insane for having that opinion.

Unless you have a degree in Music and can give some solid reasoning behind it most people will probably just write your opinion off.

I didn't think so. There were only five or six songs in the entire game I liked and most of them were Chrono Trigger remixes.

If you don't like Scars of Time you're a terrible person.

And I say this as somebody who holds absolutely no emotional attachment towards Chrono Cross whatsoever.

You can't be fucking serious?! Such a beautiful soundtrack.

The first 40 secs are pretty good. After that, it's dull though.

You're right, but he likely won't get it. The music world at large turns its pierced nose up at game music composers. I remember a guy in the music department at NYU who was bashed up by everyone for stating this very dream. Shame...

Great soundtrack, but not even close to his best, IMHO. That said, it easily trumps any number of more recent Mitsuda soundtracks, hands down. It's really kind of amazing how steeply his output has declined, unfortunately.

Also, the sample playing on that site is boring as shit.

I wanna play CC again but supposedly it doesn't work right on ps3 :/. I heard there's a bug that makes it unbeatable or something. :(

Imagine him as the composer of a final fantasy game, he would put uematsu to shame.

No final fantasy ost can touch the perfection that are chrono trigger, xenogears and chrono cross ost.

Chrono Cross has a ridiculously awesome soundtrack.
Now, I think Unlimited Saga's soundtrack is better than it, but that is neither here nor there.

I'm all for this arranged album, but is it an arrangement of every song (extremely doubtful), or is it one of those 15 song dealies?

Also, I never got what people don't like about the regular battle theme from this game. I don't know about around here, but quite a few people seem to not get the song at all.

I love the song, to tell the truth.

Worst...what? Appreciate the link, but you're way off on that.

Geez, I've been waiting for this arrange album to come out since high school. Day two!

Best original game soundtrack (compilation goes to Super smash bros brawl)

Now where is my remake???

I'd believe that. Game music is still pretty niche. People don't "get" it. I'm not exactly a big fan compared to other people, and I do think some obsess over music/composers that aren't that special -- but I appreciate OST's here and there. And there is undoubtedly stuff out there that simply is excellent composed music period, i.e. Chrono Trigger/Cross OST's. Even if you don't game, you should still be able to appreciate the music. Didn't TIME mention the Cross OST as just that? Pretty sure they did. Someone significant did.

CC soundtrack was great ... but I would prefer a new Chrono game with new great soundtrack. Am I greedy much? :(
