Chucklefish CEO teasing Switch version of Stardew Valley on Twitter

Hopefully an announcement incoming. There are a ton of upcoming games that we don't have release dates for, especially indies from the initial Nindie direct that I've been waiting on. Pocket Rumble, Stardew Valley, Owlboy, Yooka Laylee, Runner 3, Steamworld Dig 2, Golf Story, Wargroove, etc... The next few months are already packed but it would be nice to get at least a few of these big indies that we've known about for a while.

Every single time I see this game get praise and find so much success, I can imagine the developers of Harvest Moon curl up into a ball and rock in their corner.

I kinda feel bad that HM never took off to the degree that SV has.

Me too. Too bad Harvest Moon was never on PC. Man I feel salty when this game gets all the high score while Rune Factory can't even make it to 80. Western bias for sure.

If the original wasn't already so successful I honestly feel like Stardew would be the perfect game for Nintendo to fund an exclusive sequel to

and I say that as someone who played 100% of it on PC

I still find it strange that the creator of Starbound is also the publisher of Stardew Valley.

Would be cool for them to also port Starbound over, but I'm guessing controller support would take a while to do right. Not sure if the PC version has it.

Not expecting a Nintendo Direct any time soon. Possibly a Nindie event. Gamescom and PAXWest 2017 are fast approaching.

Rune Factory is relatively niche so I think the people reviewing it are probably experienced enough with the series to compare them against one another as well as other offerings in the genre. Stardew Valley, on the other hand, seems to have drawn in a broader audience by virtue of it being on PC, where it doesn't have any other direct competition or parallels. For this reason I dont' think it's that strange that it was so well received versus Rune Factory. It's kind of like GoldenEye N64, proclaimed to be a revolutionary take on FPS but in comparison to the much more sophisticated PC shooters at the time that argument would be a much harder sell. I dunno, I personally think SV and RF are pretty interchangeable. I like both well enough.

There is no co-op, only online multiplayer.

What do you mean? Did they detail anything on their multiplayer component beyond that it's coming?

Because no coop sounds like a massive deal breaker and makes me want to keep my current version so I can keep using the multiplayer mod instead of the official component.

It already has farming together and exploring everything short of the mines together, and if the official component can't measure up to that I prolly won't update the game for it.

This game's sold almost 3 million on Steam, no? Seems big enough that a physical release might be in the cards. I've been waiting to play this game on Switch, too, so I'm hoping for it.

So we've known the Switch version was coming, but they haven't said or shown much about it. Then today the Chucklefish CEO casually throws this up on Twitter.

Just release it already damn it.

I have to believe the reason a lot of these "high-profile" indie games don't have dates is because Nintendo wants to announce them in a Nindie Showcase or something.

It seems to be a production Switch not a devkit, devkits have black joycons.

I assume it gets released very soon. Probably they already send early copies with embargo. Hopefully it gets released not later then 31/8

Wow! You're right. I knew this game did well but 3 million is pretty crazy. Well deserved though!

Wish they would give at least some kind of time table for the release. There are many games to buy and limited money to buy them with.

Please be coming soon. Let's hope there's a stealth release coming our way like with Severed this week! I cannot wait to replay this game.

Don't know if I have it in me to put all the time into this that I put into the PC version, but will still buy it in physical form if that's an option.

Lol, I'm more intrigued by how the convenience of the Switch is really lending it to this manner of teasing. Just show your game running in handheld mode, and you're done. So simple, so effective!

HM was pretty big back in its heyday. The devs just kept pumping out subpar experiences, then there was the split that led to the Rune Factory games

This is one game for Switch that I absolutely cannot wait to play. I thought this was to be a summer release? I've been waiting impatiently haha. Give it to me!
