Cigarettes as a fashion compliment?

As the title says, GAF. Do you find that a cigarette can add a bit of accent to someone's external appearance, in regards to their clothing? Nothing too major, like the cigarette is the main central point of the outfit, but used as something that could make the outfit seem more natural?

I'm not much of a fashion guy, but for some reason I find the whole cigarette + fall clothing thing to be incredibly stylish.

yeah. i think it could be used to show how a person feels as well. i used a lot of profile pics of people smoking recently to convey that i am stressed.

first thing I think of when I see a cigarette anywhere is the smell. and then I wonder why they aren't smart enough to have switched to vapor yet.

yeah that's something lost with e-cigs.

you see these dudes walking around with huge e-cigs that are like soprano sax size and it's like "what the fuck is wrong with you"

Nothing says stylish like tar-filled lungs and breath that smells like campfire.

Don't insult campfires like that. Other than enjoying the quick recovery of respiratory health, after quitting smoking years ago, the biggest revelation was of how fuck-awful every smoker smells after having a cigarette. I was embarrassed that I ever smelled like that.

but those photos are staged

I can only think of a few people that candidly smoke with style, and even then it's certainly not all the time.

Well personally I find it smelly and harmful so I'm not a fan of it really.
My reaction looking at those photos is negative but cigarettes spent a lot of time being the cool thing to do before its health effects were known.

Been using this for 8 months now...

Not exactly the same but got rid of the bad taste/smell, also doesn't make me dizzy.

edit: I know it's not stylish at all but that was never the point for me anyway.

Sure, but fuck smokers. All this time, we try to tell my brother to stop smoking, but I guess he wants to smoke enough to get cancer. Whenever he gets in the car with me after smoking a cigarette, I just want to kick him in the fucking throat.

Stupid lifestyle, and honestly, if you smoke to get cool, you deserve the effects.

Yes, I found it quite sexy in certain situations.

Also guys : quit the parenting tone for a split second, it's getting old.

Yeah, because filling your lungs with toxins is getting old. Until smoking dies down almost completely, I doubt thoughts against smoking will ever die down.

Sure, these people look cool, but it's glorifying a lifestyle that can easily destroy your life.

Why do you care? I mean, you can say "yes" or "no" whithout adding that these things are bad for your health. We know. This is not the point of the thread.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it aesthetically appealing. But that extends to professional photoshoots where the cigarette is essentially just a prop.

As for real life, no thanks.

I'm sure if Family Feud surveyed "What's the least attractive thing a woman can do?" the number one answer would be "Smoking." That stuff is just gross.

Yup, it's sexy as hell. Only if the person in question is an actual smoker though, and we can tell a faker a mile off.

Is there a Smoking-GAF? Far too many cig haters in this thread
Can you imagine it? It would just be a procession of righteous non-smokers running in to spout their indignation and tell you you're going to die one day, as though you weren't aware.

Also, speaking as someone married to a smoker, in addition to how unattractive it looks, how gross it makes them smell, how disgusting it makes them taste, etc.
Knowing the cost of supporting that habit is extremely repulsive.

Yes.

Ugh. I don't smoke anymore, but yeah. STFU and let others smoke if they want and stop demonizing/harassing them.

For pictures and entertainment purposes, sure

IRL, no

Problem is that the former makes people think the latter is OK.

Yes.

I don't smoke anymore but i used to, am i the only one that has a problem when seeing someone smoking like that? Like it's her first cig or something lol, i always think they're just trying to look cool and end up looking silly cause you can tell they don't really smoke.

I need advice on good cheap ones to buy in the UK, don't know where to start :(

Also, I used to think girls who smoked were hot as fuck.

In a picture or a movie, sure they've been used that way forever.

Stand next to a smoker though and see how sexy and fashionable they are.

Cigs and the act of smoking have always looked cool in the media. I think it goes back to the noir era.

Shit, why would anyone start smoking otherwise?

Just curious OP, but how old are you?

The reason I ask is this has been an exhausted topic reaching as far back as the earlier part of the 20th century. There was a lot of backlash in the 60s and 70s, which inevitably changed the landscape of how smoking is portrayed in mass media.

For example, smoking characters were quickly removed from kid's cartoons and movies throughout the 80s. By the time we reached the 90s is was considered very bad form to show a protagonist smoking in anything that might be targeting kids.

Through all of these decades it was well-documented and known that smoking was marketed as a fashion accessory. It was something that tobacco companies actively pushed on their agenda, and to this day still do.

I just think it's interesting that a lot of these heavily discussed topics that I was witness to growing up in the 80s, aren't really covered in school or on the news anymore.

Attractive people make other things look attractive. And I get it...I used to smoke. Felt great to sit outside in that crisp clean air with good cup of coffee and a smoke.

Over the years though, I've come to not like the smell of it at all. I regret all those times that I smoked when I was on a sidewalk or any place in public because people had to put up with that smell. And then there's secondhand smoke, whole other ball of irritating.

Fucked up thing is, I still want one every now and again. After a good meal or a good roll in the hay. I wish those wants would just stop though.
