Where was that gif... ah, there.

LMAO

Polygon review:

"The Xbox One version uses resolution and textures optimized for great controller response

11/10"

Yeah, it's not really scientific. But there has been a lot of smoke during the last months regarding the resolution of the game on the XBO.
I'm going to bet the house I just bought that the game is 720p. At this point it's a non story as we've already seen multiple Xbox One games run at either a lower resolution or lower framerate. It's something people need to move on from. It's like groundhogs day around here.

As someone that posted the og thread on the horrid up scaling I'm seeing the same sharpening on this as I see with non native titles. Has me worried as that scaler is utter horse shit.

Yiiiikes.

That game is fucking fugly on both. Like a choice between Awful and Super Awful.

Looks compressed to hell, which obviously doesn't help, but even on PC... I mean, check out that PS2 tree in the background. oof.

Just to remember: that's a game that can be run by a 8800GT on PC.

Both look terrible, but yea, it's going to be a big deal if the final version of the game does end up being 720p. I mean, it looks pretty subpar graphically, and it's not like the 60fps reason is good enough. BF4 is 60fps too and looks much better, even on the Xbox One.

Pretty sure, based on the watermark, that it was taken from a youtube video and is not a direct feed capture.

Looks like it, the compression artifacts are too horrible for any other explanation.

What? You can't base anything off of hugely compressed video streams. Texture detail is destroyed. Even those PC shots are compressed to hell. Worthless & stupid article.

I still can't believe a Source engine game can't run at 1080p on a Xbox One. It beggars belief.

I would be freaking shocked if the retail xbone version is 720P native res. I just don't see it happening...

I still can't believe a Source engine game can't run at 1080p on a Xbox One. It beggars belief.

They rewrote the entire renderer. Don't think that we can blame the Source engine here.

Haven't been able to read the whole thread, but some quick responses to things I've read:

First - so glad to have this finally out there! Even more excited that people seem to "get it" and are looking forward to playing it. We've been focusing on gameplay since day 1, and I think everyone is going to have a really fun time getting to know the game once its out :)

The 60fps videos are from our site, www.titanfall.com. I don't care where you're getting 'em, but if Gamersyde is slow for you, try it. A huge part of the game is the fluidity, and thats really lost on weak-sauce Youtube 30fps encodes. As long as I'm around, expect 60fps footage from us.

For those expecting "normal" Source engine - don't. Those super smart coders (like Calen in this thread!) have re-written a massive amount of the codebase. The renderer is completely new (multi-threaded, DX11, 64bit, etc.), along with all the sound code, netcode, input code, etc. There's a lot of cores on the Xbox One, and the coders are actively working on utilizing them as much as possible.

Cloud! Cloud. Cloud? Yeah - we're using the MS Cloud for the Xbox One version. All platforms will be 100% played on dedis, but on the Xbox One MS is providing an extra layer on Azure that allows us to spin up dedis at a moments notice based on active users in the variety of regions, among other things.

We aren't talking about the 360 version much yet, but rest assured that we're working with the team thats doing it and care very deeply that its a superb version. This is our debut game and we won't let just any turd out the door!

PC - yup, going to be on PC, and its going to be awesome. We've got a lot of hardcore PC gamers in the office, and we know there's a lot of you looking to get this on PC. Again, no turds. We know what PC guys like/expect, and really don't want to disappoint.

It's a minor thing but you've really put the object and subject in this sentence the wrong way around:

'I still can't believe Xbox One* can't run a Source engine game at 1080p'

*'Xbone' preferable but Xbox One will do in a pinch I guess

Does the game really look like that? Damn... that looks terrible.

Clearly they reduced the resolution to lower the download size.

Its not a great looking game, i dont know what its doing for it to be 720 on Xbox One.. IMO Halo 4 looks better

Artist, I'm a PC gamer but you have to use at least a good screenshot for the X1. The screenshot you posted have the HUD blurred and with compression artifacts wich are indicatives of a fcked up shot. Get a better source.

I don't think it's a problem with the game running 1080p on the Xbox One. I think the problem is It can't run 1080p/60fps on the Xbox One. I think Respawn will choose framerate over resolution.

To be honest, the PC version looks like ass too. Delivering good graphics clearly wasn't the primary focus during development. (Even though the designs in the game look awesome).

Here's hope the gameplay is better than graphics.

Yeah those Xbone shots look like from a low bitrate stream not direct feed shots...... Not that the PC shots look great. We probably will know more after next weeks beta, I would expect them to provide the full res textures and overall most of the Graphic fidelity you will get from the Release version.

Surely this is native 1080p.....surely.

I was playing Day of Defeat Source with 32 players @ 1080p/40fps 8 freaking years ago.

And so they should. Framerate over resolution always although the X1 should be able to run a game like this at 1080p and 60fps, its ridiculous that it can't.

Pretty bored today are we?

Even in a best case scenario the game is incredibly mediocre, graphically.

This is what they struggled so much to get 60fps they has to ask MS to remove the OS's GPU reserve...

Saying all this, if I had a gaming PC or an Xbox I'd still buy this game. It looks like fun.

Resolution schmesolution. It's a damned ugly game, that's been clear from the day they first showed it. I guess I get that it might be worth noting for those on the fence about which version to get, but I figured people would be cool with lower res given that it is such a bug ugly game to begin with.

Don't wanna bitch or self promote (I'm the author of the original article on DualShockers), but might as well post the original source instead of Cinemablend's warped version

They basically shoplifted the pictures, removed all the text, and used them to make a completely unbalanced, shameful and flamebaitish anti Xbox One argument that completely misses the point.

In perfect cinemablend style, of course.

In the article they go from showing the PC version on top to the PC version underneath in the penultimate comparison pair. That's incredibly confusing.
