Circuit City Going Bye Bye - EVERYTHING on Sale

I'm disappointed the store near my survived this new culling... its a dump and the service is f'n horrible... these jerks left a friggin wrench under the hood of my previous car while installing it's auto start, then tried to play it off like it wasn't theres, then like it wasn't a f'n big deal... yeah if it had fallen off of what it was placed on under my hood and fell through the damn engine while I was driving it would have been a big deal.

:lol

wow...

The Source by Circuit City in Canada is going down just as fast. I worked there last year for a month and I left for Futureshop because they were closing 50 stores in the country within the year. Futureshop and Best Buy are destroying them. It's no surprise either because they sell a bunch of shit. In the month I worked there we didn't sell one video game related product and had 1 ps3 and 1 360 in stock collecting dust in the back.

I wouldn't get to excited. The deals are fairly small. The real deals don't normally kick in until the final days before closing; however, by that time most of the good items are gone.

In my area, there was one person madly driving around a shopping area and asking people were the local Circuit City was.

You guys know the deal.

Step 1. Find something you like
Step 2. Hide it under kiosks.
Step 3. Come back 2 weeks later when everything is 75% off
Step 4. Find what you hid, and buy it!

So what kind of sales are speaking about here?
10% to start. Then it'll go to 20. Then 25-40. 50-70. GONE. Most of the good stuff will be gone before the 20% mark. All of the good stuff will be gone before 40.

hahahahaha

I'm trying to think of anything I've bought at Circuit City over the years... I did buy my PSP there for some reason, but I think it's because a game I wanted to get at the same time was in stock there and didn't feel like going somewhere else. Other than that, maybe a cell phone charger years ago. Best Buy on the other hand has received tons of my moneys. I never felt like going to Circuit City which is organized clumsily and has much lower selection than Best Buy.

The Circuit City in Jackson MS is staying open. I am surprised, since they hardly ever have a perosn buying items form that store, plus thier is a Gamestop, Best Buy (both across the street), and ToysR'us just down the road.

Circuit City is closing 155 stores across the country, which is about 20% of their stores. Misleading thread ftl.

The company is not going out of business (at least not right now).

The Circuit City near me isn't closing. I guess that's a good thing.
Same thing here. I checked the Florida locations and the store by me is still good to go. No deals for me.

The only thing I have ever bought from CC was Rallisport Challenge 2 for the original Xbox

And only because I was already being dragged to the store. There's a reason they're closing.

So both the Union Square one in New York and the Dorchester, MA one will stay open. Ah well.

At least 86th St. is closing. Maybe I'll pick up that last copy of Taiko Drum Master (OWNING THREE IS NEVER ENOUGH).

The one i went to 2 days ago had most things 10 to 20% off. Except PC's, which was 5%.

Pretty much the same as buying a game and getting it tax-free (games were 10% off).

10% off is pretty shitty when you consider that it just gets negated by the sales tax (8.25% in my state)
They take the discount before taxes so its a little less than the sticker price.

It's bad because it's only there i could find some types of wiring and connections. Now i'll have to i don't know where. Like Canadian Tire or Microbytes.

I got fallout 3 for 44bucks.

Although the store I was at had everything 10% - 30% off. :D

I hope the TV I just bought goes on a mega-sale ... I have 30 day price match guarantee with BB. Please drop that shit, cc

Seems the two by me will stay in business. Stupid new jersey. >:(
yeh I was kinda bummed that the CC in Bergen Staten Island and Union is staying open. Don't feel like driving to Freehold as the cost of gas/toll would outdo any savings made in purchases.

Think it varies by location, but most is 10% off. At the one near me it's:

Video games and accessories - 10% off
Video game consoles - 5% off
DVDs, CDs, Blu-Rays - 20% off
HDTVs - 10% off
Computers and laptops - 5% off

That's all I remember.

The one in Livingston is closing, which is only roughly half an hour from the Union one. Still not a great deal, but should be closer than Freehold, depending on where you are.

just went to the one closing buy me over lunch. It's only been a day but almost all the 360 games were gone. The thing that sucks right now is that they took off all sales and are dropping 10%-20% off the MSRP. It's fine for new games, since they sell at MSRP anyway, but old games and everything else in the store (espcially TV's) are still not at prices that I would consider a bargin. You still can't get a blu-ray for under 20 bucks after tax, even with 20% off. They need to come down a little bit more.

I was just at Union Square today... alive and well.

Terrible thread title!!

I got Gears of War 2 at CC today and it was supposed to come with a free 1600 MS points card, but the store didn't have any, so I got a free $20 CC gift card.

They better not go out of business!

Dammit Circuit City, why did you never put up a Gainesville location? Why do I have to drive to Jacksonville? Fuck that, low prices are not worth the traffic.
