Classic Game Room launches Patreon campaign.

It doesn't end ever. Patreon is an ongoing crowdfunding thing.

That makes sense then. Thank you. Any indication when Mark will start/continue to produce videos?

Also, we know that Derek left and such, but what are TJ, Eric, etc. and the rest of the crew up to now?

For you Elite Ninjas and higher, the first two extended cut reviews will be Earth Defense Force and Panzer Dragoon Orta! Go go go!!

To me, he is the most important YouTuber and I will proudly support him with a little money every month. Him being on YouTube is almost invaluable to me. Love his relaxed and positive style of reviewing.

Does anyone know when the funding time ends? I can't seem to find how much time is left until you can stop help fundraise/subscribe.

My understanding is that patreons just keep on rolling, it's not like a Kickstarter as you aren't paying for a fixed product.

I very much liked Derek even more so because he loves Nintendo as much as I do. Nintendo fans have softies for other Nintendo fans, it's amazing. He's a completely different reviewer than Mark and just isn't as great, but still pretty good too. I hope he keeps fighting the good fight like Mark.

The only fight I saw from Derek was agenda driven. There's enough of that crap on the TV and internet for several lifetimes. I'm sure he's a good guy but as someone else put it in this thread:
Won't miss his preaching bullshit at all, not why I watched any CGR videos.

Mark is a rare breed and pretty much the only guy I like listening to talk about games these days.

just put in my $5!

we got the fever five!

fiver fiver race track driver!

thirty-two juice roll!

Fi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-ive~! Fi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-ive!

whodat whodat whodat whodat whodat whodat who?

whodat whodat whodat try to get up in my food?!

Hmm... might be in at the $25 tier for now. Wouldn't mind going above that, but I've got some other major life purchases going on right now and I'm tryna chill.

I've always really liked CGR.

Can someone explain a bit more in detail why the ad model isn't working for him anymore? I don't really follow the behind the scenes youtube things at all. I just want to know why it seemed to work for CGR many years, but not anymore. It makes me sad that a channel as awesome as CGR is, but they now have to resort to something like Patreon, when they didn't have to before.

Did youtube make changes in the monetization of videogame content?

Is it youtube red?

What was the thing that changed? Or was it many things?

However, when YT started its Content ID system, Mark decided to leave YT since many of his videos were getting flagged and delisted, hosting his videos from his dedicated website.

He later came back to YT, editing his older videos to remove the Content ID flags, which were mostly music related.

Yet, the show wasn't sustainable as a business.
Is it really ONLY Content ID flags? Because I would have thought he could adjust to that if it was only the music. Unless it's just almost impossible to do any videogame footage at all nowdays?

I'll repost:
YouTube Red.

Ad revenue distribution is now like a pyramid scheme, with people like pewdepie getting the lions share and people like mark getting scraps. A let's player explained his revenue before YouTube red was around 40 a month, has gone to 8 dollars.

Here's an article:

Very happy about this. Unfortunately I cannot/will not contribute at this time of my life. Watch all of his videos, sometimes a couple times.

I'll have to contribute to this next week. Might just have to make it a couple of dollars per month to begin with, but every little bit helps. I really like his relaxed and positive style of reviewing, so I want to see him being able to continue.

you dont get charged until the first of February

Looks like Mark is pushing for 1000 subscribers by the end of today. If you're thinking about it jump in.

A shining beacon of hope for lasers, flamethrowers, el caminos and robots.

This is such good news, I love both CGR and I'm one of those people who love Undertow. Hearts and prayers that this patreon stays successful.

How does Patreon exclusive stuff work? I've never backed Patreon before.

Are the exclusive videos on Patreon's website or something? Will my Wii U browser play them?
