"Classic NEOGEO project" at EVO

Any one care to translate the Japanese tweet? Are they referring to hardware with the "installed" bit?

"At EVO 2017, we set up a test stand for the NEOGEO classic title to be first public! Please drop in!"

What makes you think they'd make a new AOF?

"Oda keeps getting told by fans everywhere for a MOTW sequel so he feels obligated to make it one day. (Note: 4gamer has a photo of characters that were designed for the original Neo Geo). In addition, he also wants to make a new AOF since the series never got far enough to find its answer as a fighting game. He also wants to make an Athena and Metal Slug."

He also mentioned that he was thinking of turning AOF into an action/beat em up style game.

A fighting game would be a tough sell but this would definitely lend itself well both to the IP and gameplay.

AOF has always been a weird series of 2D fighters. But I think AOF 3 is the closest SNK ever got to making a fighter that played like a traditional VF or Tekken style 3D fighter. So if AOF4 ever happens, it pretty much should be Fighting Vipers with fireballs.

They already made one. It was great. Could play it as a handheld or a console with the classic arcade stick.

Had a bunch of games packed in and they sold one other pack of games that came in the classic Neo Geo clamshell case.

From what I've heard, it was far from "great." It had poor emulation, weird resolution issues, and felt pretty flimsy considering the price. I'm not speaking from personal experience, but what I've heard from GameSack, Giant Bomb, Ashens and the like.

I'd love to see a new take on the idea though, with no portable mode (to keep the price reasonable) and some good emulation and joysticks. If done will, it would be beloved.

Yasuyuki Oda has expressed interest in bringing AOF back as an action title I believe.

I'd be up for a character action AOF game!

So more of a beat em up? I'd definitely be in favor of that. Would also love if they retained the generally trashy B-movie feel that pervades the first 2 games. I just love that kind of atmosphere a lot more than the progressively weirder anime stuff the KOF series leaned towards.

Wow, mixed feeling, in one hand is cool to have SSVSP with a good emulation team behind and online, but I'm dissapointed because I was generating ridiculous expectatives over this announcement

I have Samurai Shodown VI, how is V Special better/different? VI is a shitshow imo.

If you have VI on PS4, which is a port of the PS2 version, which is pure garbage, then this version of V is a much better game. If you somehow have the Atomiswave version of VI, then imo that's the best game in the serie.

I thought 1 & 2 were great, but all the other ones after them were pretty bad.
