Those unfamiliar with the pains of hell should fear the Lament Configuration.

I watched an AI verses video that pitted Batman against Pinhead and crew after he solved the Lament Configuration. It was one of the most awesome verses videos I've ever seen. Pinhead let him go after he sacrificed other sinners souls to hell...but he didn't escape. He was let go. The Configuration isn't done with him yet. Basically the big battle was all the demons of hell not attacking Batman out of curiosity as they watch him harvest souls from a cult he knew about that had committed suicide earlier that night. The Cenobites had never seen anything quite like Batman and of course they coveted his soul.
