Clive Barker's Jericho New Screens

I really liked the game when I saw it last week at Codemasters'. Interesting gameplay, quite good tech, nice. Can't say the same thing about Turning Point though.

What? You were in London at the Codies event, or was it a French one?

Doesn't look terribly creative, but this is a case that sort of justifies the idea that graphics are important--the same designs executed with older technology probably wouldn't have had the same effect, but this looks terrifying.

What's up with all these shooters? Chronicles of Riddick remake, Darkness, Haze, UT3, Killzone 2, Halo 3, CoD 4, Crisys, Condemend 2, Brothers in Arms, Medal of Honor Airborne ****.

Wallchick confirmed in this game.

because that's a girl right? I can't tell anymore

That was my first thought too, and after looking at the pic for a minute or two, I still can't tell if that's a girl or not. Despite Wall Girl, this game was completely off my radar before, but it looks pretty cool.

The gore is great, but other then that the game looks AAAAAAVERAGE. How many space marine shooters is needed this gen?

I need more info on this. Seems a little early to be dismissing the game as totally generic; space marines aside. The impressions of those who have played it are inconsistent, and the original premise of the story and gameplay mechanics sounded very promising to me. Remember the early press releases that mentioned the adventure elements of the gameplay, and the ambiguity about which bizarre creatures are friend and foe? I think there's a lot more to be uncovered.

Love the art direction - too few games deliver monsters that are really...monstrous. The level of detail is incredible. These enemies could never have come close this level of visual impact last gen. At worst it'll be an over the top Suffering clone, but I'm expecting Jericho to attempt a lot more. Not feeling totally optimistic about how successfully the original design ideas have been implemented, but definitely hoping for the best.

I would like to see more too, but from what I have seen so far it doesn't look to have anywhere near half the character of Undying. That game had atmosphere, class, and a unique visual look. This one looks like a remake of some PSOne era shooter that I can't remember the name of.

It's SO "inspired" by Gears of War, you're space marines in a squad (called the Jericho squad and split into... guess! Alpha and Delta) with like the whiney one and the big black dude, it’s such a shame that when we finally get a writer competent enough to write a proper story, it gets pushed into Cliché hell.

You are seriously saying it's inspired by Gears because of those cliches? How many movies have you watched and games have you played? Those cliches have been around as long as I can remember and I groaned at every one whilst playing Gears.

Those screenshots really impressed me. The art style is terrific and very 'Barker'. I was so impressed I was going to post 'day 1 purchase'. But if it is just another squad based shooter with cliches out the wigwam, I might give it a miss.

Either way, I'll keep my eye on this one.
