Yeah, a Wii would have been a better comparison. But then again, you can't expect people outside the game industry to know the difference between an Xbox and Nintendo.

I know they spend too much adapting things to the lowest common denominator, but it's the only cable news channel I dare to watch because it's the one I know that doesn't pander to a particular political audience.

On topic the only thing I can think is that CNN had their wires crossed with the NGP, a handheld also launching this year. With all the talk from Sony about that device being relative in power to the PS3; maybe they were thinking of that?

Yeah it could have honestly been a mistake, but how is this guy going to prepare a video review when he doesn't even have the basics down? You don't have to be a "Hardcore Gamer" as he put it to do some good ol' research on the topic your are about to do a video about.

Besides, there were people saying graphical discrepancy between the 3ds and ngp, ngp and ps3 were small.

So because nintendo never claimed to deliver graphics on par with 360 or PS3, he is not supposed to compare 3DS to them?

Eh? And besides you can clearly tell he was making a positive comment on 3DS, saying it doesn't really matter that it can't match PS3.

Nintendo fans are the most defensive kind.

I dunno, it just irks me whenever somebody boasts about themselves being a "Hardcore Gamer". The term is so subjective, anybody can consider themselves a "Hardcore Gamer". Is their a 50 gaming hours per week requirement before you suddenly become "Hardcore"????. It's just a dumb title people give themselves. And It's even worse when used by a company to describe their game.

CNN audience is more likely to recognize and be familiar with the Wii than either of those, there is a reason that nearly 30% of all housefolds have a Wii. And why not compare it to something that is actually similar instead of comparing it to something that it has very little in common with.

His other comments sure, but his "Definitely not PS3 quality for instance" comment came out of nowhere, he didn't do his homework, plain and simple.

The terms are most likely used to describe how adaptable a game is to a newcomer, not the time spent playing a particular title.

Also the label is given to people who follow a type of game. Meaning once a series is considered casual/hardcore then the gamers that play that title are casual/hardcore gamers regardless of the time spent on the game.

Wii is by far the most popular console and its graphics are very similar to 3DS, plus it is also made by Nintendo so that would have been a way better comparison. Why choose the least popular console???

His entire video reeks of someone not doing their research.

I guess he should have compared it to the wii instead.

I guess he could have mentioned the Wii instead indeed, but maybe he chose the PS3 instead to compare it to the console that has produced the best graphics, to see how the graphics on the 3DS held up to that. Or maybe he chose the PS3 because that is the console with most 3D games on it, since the 3DS is also a 3D device. But i dont know. I dont think that he ment it as much negative when he compared it to the PS3 though, but that is just my opinion of it.
