CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wii: "Whyyyyyyyy-iiiiii??"

Looks like CNN hasn't learned from Jon Stewart's surprise-buttsecksing the Crossfire guys and resulting in its cancellation. Maybe Cooper should get Stewart on so they can get rid of another dead weight blowhard.

+1 for Cooper for reacting the way you should and not pimping the product if you're not interested in it. I hate when reporters/hosts show fake interest in product that they have no interest in...

I couldn't possibly agree more with Anderson Cooper. He absolutely nailed it.

Er, not really. He may have said something you agree with, but he didn't "nail" it - nailing it would entail that he actually be aware of anything about the product. Being immediately dismissive of a game and trying it for not even ten seconds is not something to "agree" with.

Anderson, you just dropped sooo many rungs on the ladder.

"Why would you want to do that?"

:lol my thoughts exactly.

It's....fun? I can't wait until he dismisses Halo. Mmm, bitter GAF tears.

Nah, Coop definitely nailed it.

Bored + MS paint =

Maybe someone can make an ani-gif with him stepping on it and then walking away.

WOW... I love how there are actually nintendo fans in here getting all upset about this. It also looks like some sony fans came in to join the party.

I thought the video was funny as hell, he was so awkward and unsure of what to do. Of course this doesn't represent all of wii fit. The game is actually pretty great. It's not a gamers game, but if you're looking to get in better shape it motivates you big time.

step is the worst activity in wii fit; i would think most wii fit players would be even more in agreement with cooper than others. i know i am

I've never watched his show before, but he sure comes off as a dick.

He's actually a pretty good journalist and reporter for CNN. I'm not at all surprised that he doesn't know what a Wii is. He travels alot and I don't think he has time to watch himself on TV.

It's exactly what people here do all the time, so why not? :P

Yes, that was the greatest thing I've ever watched :)

Let's see: We put someone with absolutely zero interest and history with games on the spot by forcing him to try out a game, during a newscast that he ordinarily looks cool and dapper in. And surprise, he doesn't immediately like the idea and dismisses it.

That, right there, could have been any game.

Awesome, a news clip Nintendo won't bore us with at E3.

No, they'll just have Cooper come on stage to demonstrate how much he loves it now :P.

Seriously, though, he could be dismissing it because he just sees the stepping game and thinks that that's the whole game. If he doesn't know how to pronounce Wii by now, I seriously doubt he has any idea what the hell Wii Fit is or what it's all about.

Guys, there's no way to look "cool" playing wii fit. Cooper plays the cool bit like a champ so I'm not at all surprised he didn't do it.

Erica: "Do you want to test out your Wii?"

Anderson: "Why, I don't even know what one would do with that... thing"

Wow. Super embarrassing. Super Awkward. Super funny.

i dunno you can look pretty cool in hula hoop when you are really groovin' and picking up all the thrown hoops etc. hands on hips is my preferred method that probably helps.

to be fair i agree with his sentiments as to the stupid step game.
May want to edit that, any sort of "Defense Force" reference is bannable still.

Wow, there's quite the angry mob brewing here.

Relax fellas. I don't think, 'trim, fit, adult male' is really the target audience Nintendo is going for here.

Just rewatch the Ellen clip for a more accurate reception of the intended userbase.

Actually, trim, fit, adult males are a subset of the target audience Nintendo is going for. People under 330 lbs and older than (minimum age here).

I'm glad to see the usual anti-Wii pundits here using this as another soap box to sneak onto the back of and pat the guy on the back for. I was just thinking we hadn't had one of these kinds of threads since, oh, I dunno, a couple days ago.

It's my gf's favourite activity in Wii Fit.

Hahaha yeah take that Nintendo, Anderson Cooper thinks Wii Fit is silly.

HARDCORE GAMERS REDEEMED!

Just wait until the crash in Nintendo sales this causes in the NPD thread!!
lol

Man, I thought Anderson Cooper was supposed to be all young and hip, but he doesn't know how to say "Wii." So sad. I bet Keith Olbermann knows what a Wii is, Anderson! :lol

I think it's really, really sad that kbear is trying to spin this as some sort of fanboy vindication or something when it's pretty clear that what happened is the guy knows nothing about videogames and thought the lame attempt at product placement was, in fact, lame.
