COD Ghosts Xbox One offline (2 weeks before launch) not possible without Live?

On the father and son Youtube video where there XBox One gets banned as soon as they connect to live, they get pushed back out to the main menu, then have to go back into settings > network to choose their connection and re-enter their password (I was actually surprised it didn't remember it).

If those 150 consoles out there get hit with the 24 hour DRM thing (assuming that's what this is) and they can't go back into the settings, they're screwed.

People seem to be confused about "console bans". Console bans never banned you from SP content, it banned you from using XBL on that console.

That tweet was deleted shit just got real

For anyone asking about Major Nelson tweet, this is what he said

So am I the only one who finds it concerning that The Major decided to remove that tweet from existence and distance himself from what ever is happening in a span of 15mins...not a good sign normally seems like a CYA move.

I hope this is just the patch not finalized and not Microsoft lying. If this is true, I am going to be absolutely furious. But the PlayStation 4 version has offline enabled. I don't see why the Xbox One version wouldn't have it either; considering they're both identical.

Does anyone know if the WiiU, PS3, or 360 boxes say anything either?

That is what is so fucked up. Surely to god they would not stop you from even playing single player games. This has to be due to it not being released yet.

He fixed the grammar on his tweet. It's back up

I think Sony added it because they thought it would be important for their strategy.

I agree. Are there other games that say that? Maybe they made the decision to have that statement included before the 180 to rub it in. Who knows.

He just corrected a typo, it's not deleted :)

Guys. Man. I'm not getting an Xbox One one but geez ... I can't imagine the patience Panello and Nelson have to have to deal with us sometimes --- and trust me, I'm no fan of either especially after e3/the Angry Joe debacle, but ... lets just calm it down a bit.

Most likely the guy didn't download the day one patch but something else and after his console was banned (which I don't agree with but understand) he could no longer check-in.

Obviously this sort of clumsy silliness is why I'll be staying away from the xbox one in the first place but can we let these guys stand up before throwing rocks at them.

I'm wondering if MS patched out the always-online properly, but Activision still had the old code in for Ghosts. Maybe they'll be patching it closer to launch?

I'm not overly worried about this, as MS clearly will not want to destroy the Xbox One right at launch. If it turns out Activision decided to make the game require internet, I'll definitely be buying BF4 instead (and then if it does it, nothing).

This.

Zero chance that an internet connection will be required to play SP content. This would be a nightmare for Microsoft if true. Even if it was required at one time I would hope that it would get quashed for future releases really quickly.

We know this but the guy says he can not play anything at all after the ban.

Exactly so this has nothing to do with the banning is what I'm saying. This is either the patch doesn't include the 24 hour 'check in' removal or something else is at work.

Mostly likely the guy didn't download the day one patch but something else and after his console was banned (which I don't agree with but understand) he could no longer check-in.

That's the reasonable consensus, but the Cboat post has people wondering.

Maybe he's off the clock and knows Penello is on it, or was embarrassed that his tweet was not a complete sentence

This.

It's getting ridiculous at this point.

Yes, *probably*, but is it too much to ask for clarification on this issue before someone drops 500 beans?

Right, a network ban. But it sounds like this guys console got bricked from ANY use until they flip a switch. If thats a feature on retail units, thats... troublesome to say the least.

Is this a real post?

I'm not trying to say "Sony too" More like if a game like COD insisted on always online Sony would damn well let them. I was trying to emphasize the strangeness of COD going always online on only Xbox one if it was the case, and I don't think it is..

Unless Cboat spills some actual news, we should wait until launch.
This might be one of those times where he's just letting us put 2 + 2 together. But ya, just to be sure I'll check the established gaming sites that ran stories on this dude to see what they've been able to investigate from these peculiar circumstances.

Oh boy. The ban happened way before the 24 hour check in. He can not play anything on the console after the ban. MS clearly banned online and offline on his console till closer to release. He says he talked to them and he if fine with whatever they did.

But he can't get into network settings so even if they do 'flip a switch', the console can't connect online to even realize the theoretical switch has been flipped.

We are trying their patience? The customers who will theoretically be paying their salaries?

So let us wait until all the information is on the table before we start jumping to conclusions.

If it turns out that your console can get essentially bricked, then we have an issue.
