COD2 Benchmarks...AMD2800 2GB 7800GT SLI > X360 !

7800 GT SLI > 6800U SLI = PS3 / X360

We suppose to be surpise? Also, games for PC aren't design for top PC hardware. Thus, I wouldn't be suprise games on console still looks better. Maybe, 2-3 years down the line when average PCs increase in power do you see console games look worse.

I think people are still forgetting how crappy most pc games have looked on consoles. Anyone remember Half-life ports. I think its impressive that a console is keeping pace with highend PCs port or no port. It hasn't happened that often especially for fps.

I've played COD2 on PC (6800 Ultra, 2 GB RAM, 3.0 GHz P4 Northwood 800 FSB, audigy 2 ZS) and Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 has a rock solid 60 fps from what I saw. There was a bit better lighting and effects, but not too much different.

However, I hate playing on gamepads...so PC wins for me hands down. It's just way, way too slow for the face paced action of COD2.

Very true, especially with fps and pc to console fps, with the vast majority of them running at 30fps or less on current generation of systems. It's not until now with 360/PS3 that we will finally see fps that rival their pc counterparts.

Will your 360 render this game in 1600x1200 with 6xAA, 8xAF and smooth 60 fps?

Since the game doesn't look exponentially better at that resolution than at 1280 x 720, the point is moot.

This being a next generation console, there shouldn't even be a discussion or a comparison.

Kind of telling that there is one.

Where have you been the past 20 years, there always is. Whenever a new console comes out the Computer and Console gamer factions get together for a pow wow and criticize every single feature and how it stacks up to a PC.

PS3> 7800GTX > 6800U SLI
:D

The 360 is noticeably better in a number of categories. The framerate is LOCKED at 60fps . Even the devs have gone on record to say the best version out there is the 360 version, not to mention the most stable/optomized. *Stares again at Zer0*

theres no such thing as a locked frame rate. Saw this game at BB the other day on the 360 , looked pretty good i just cant play fps's with controllers i suck so bad trying to use analog sticks :( .

Thought PS3 chipset was quoted as same as 6800U SLI?

Even if not,

7800 GT SLI > PS3 > 7800GTX > 6800U SLI

Look at thread heading. :D

IT was said to be "even more powerful than a 6800u sli", i think. As for sli it probably should beat it. Though with aid of the cell, if the cell can aid with VS it should still exceed it in that regard. I just hope it can, cause today we're still in need of more geometry :D

I'll counter your bare anecdotal observation with my own. I ran the same demo level on my P4 3Ghz with X800Pro PC with 2GB of RAM, and there are alot of differences in the demos: X360 version has a heat haze effect that's not in the PC demo.
I'm sure it was already mentioned, but some of those effects use SM30...which your X800Pro cannot do. On my 6800 card, those effects are all present in the demo. There is a significant difference between SM30 mode and the lower paths. The SM30 mode looks like the X360 version.

HOWEVER, the performance in SM30 mode (on my machine) wasn't 60 fps constant...which X360 is.

Ah. Didn't know that the haze effect was in the SM3.0 PC version. I did hear that running COD2 in SM3.0 makes it much slower then SM2.0 back when the PC demo was first released. Is that still true?

Dunno. I only played the PC demo (and, yes, it was true).

If I play this game, it will be on XBOX360 simply because of the framerate.

To be more specific, they said more powerful than two 6800 Ultras. Which might/would be distinct from two in SLI.

The demo ran absolutely fine with SM3.0 on my midrange 6600GT (256mb ram), so I don't know what's going on here. With anisotropic filtering and no AA I even got like 40 frames or so. Whole thing ran pretty smooth.

Anyone know for sure whether or not CoD2 on 360 has any level of anisotropic filtering enabled? Supposedly the demos are only using bilinear leaving the image quality a bit lacking. There's some varying accounts out there but havent really seen a straight answer on this.

Bueller?

That would be too bad, anisotropic filtering makes an incredible difference.

I find it hilarious that AF is for some bizarre reason over looked in most Xbox games and maybe Xbox 360 games too. I would definitely sacrifize AA for some AF but the developers seem to think the opposite pfft.
