Code Vein - E3 Trailer [PS4/XB1/PC, 2018]

Are the terrible anime faces supposed to attract japanese audiences or americans?

People who like anime, or people open to the idea of games with anime. Seems pretty simple

Maybe its a minority for folks on Xbox outside of DBZ and Naruto, but i guess its worth a shot for them to try

Even though it was clearly coming to both I thought it felt like the trailer for this had the "console launch exclusive" tag during the MS conference, but I guess this coming at the same time for all 3?

But I guess the games with that just blended together eventually (probably just like they wanted).

I think they were pretty good in this trailer.

The regular enemy reacts accordingly and enters hitstun in the first and second hit of a 3 hit light attack chain with a short sword.

Another enemy gets stunned by the lance-thing.

Not worried at all about that aspect anymore.

The cutscene animations are incredible, holy shit. I need a gif of that girl activating her bullshit anime power up mode.

:D

I find it a rather strange Bamco waited four months to confirm the obvious in there also being a PC version (all Dark Souls releases on Steam have north of 1m owners, so there's undeniably a big audience for these sort of games). Maybe it was hoping for another petition to emerge in the interim.

So smooth

This game looks dope but mannnn the anime characters totally kill it for me. Like, I'll play it and enjoy it, but they look so out of place in the otherwise original and stylish visual style.

Oozing with anime, I'll take it. I'm assuming the characters in the trailer will be taking similar roles in the plot as the characters in God Eater.

what are you saying then? xbox one have the most "anime" games on it on a console after ps4 then any other console, doesnt seem odd to me

My point was just that I find it surprising that Bandai Namco is also putting this game on XBOX given that everyone knows Japanese/Anime games don't exactly sell well to that audience. I'm not saying they can't do it, I'm just surprised they did it with this game.

I suppose they're banking on it being like Souls enough for people to ignore the aesthetics.

Yeah, the hit feedback does look and sound improved over the teaser, nice.
Also nice to have platform confirmations, though they weren't exactly unexpected :)

Souls games sell on Xbox, so it's not a wrong idea. They might want to see if gameplay > artstyle.
Still, I'll be very interested in the platform split.

PC confirmation and dual audio confirmation are two of the three confirmations I was looking for. Now where's my coop confirmation?

PC better be a good port
It's UE4.

You have to work really hard to make a bad PC version of a UE4 game, and if anything Namco-Bandai tries to make good PC versions, they don't go out of their way to make bad ones.

I honestly forgot that Namco actually had in-house teams. Was trying furiously to figure out who the heck was developing this!

It looks good enough to consider purchasing but will probably wait on some impressions.

Just caught up on this. Top-3 of the show thus far. Looks like improvements have been made to what was shown in the reveal, so expecting big things from Weeb Souls. God Eater team can deliver. The setting already looks marvelous as well. Interesting game overall.

I'm still salty NB made this instead of God Eater 3.
Aren't there different teams working on this and GE3?
Well it shares the God Eater director and Go Shiina music, but I think the actual development team is different.

Yeah, only Koei would manage to severely mess up a UE4 port.

I don't know about this game. The aesthetic does not seem cohesive and the combat seems to be forcing Souls too much. Hopefully I'm wrong like I was with Nioh.

Hit impacts are fine now. Can still be improved, but this feels alright. I like how monster staggers in the direction of your swing. Really goes a long way on making it feel hefty...

I'm just glad you can't stunlock them, they stop being stunlocked after 2-3 hits.

In DS3 you could 1 combo most enemies.

The artstyle didn't click with me that well but I liked the combat that I saw. I'll keep an eye on the game for sure.

DS3 is actually the hardest game to 1-combo enemies because they added ridiculous poise to them. I still have nightmares about those stupid knights on the way to the tower hall with the boss brothers.

The third swing doesn't stagger the enemy though
