Colin Farrell is in talks to star in the second season of HBO’s “True Detective,” sources confirm.

He’s the first actor to board season two of the highly-acclaimed drama after months of rumors and internet speculation.

““I think the people we will cast will be well-known names,” HBO president Michael Lombardo hinted at Thursday’s TCA presentation. “But that wasn’t our ambition (in season one).”

It’s unknown whether Farrell will be joined by a female co-star, as rumored, but creator Nic Pizzolatto has confirmed that the new season will be set in California and feature at least three lead roles.

“It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”

Fresno County would actually be a good place. You have the mountains to the east, Reservations, the Fruit Farms, and just tons of shit to work with.

I was really into TD for the first couple of episodes but got burnt out quickly after that. Yes, I know it was only 8 episodes, but that was still too long for what it was and what it set out to do. Would've worked better as a movie or a shorter (4-hour) mini series. Not sure yet if I'll be there again for the second season.
