Colin Was Right - How Mobile Gaming Ruined Everything

Baby steps, you can bet that this is the end goal.
First you introduce the concept using the least intrusive way possible and then you start testing and pushing the limits, till we end in the worst place possible for the consumer and best for the publishers.

Valve is already getting money hand over fist from CSGO. People don't care because the game is better off now than before they hosted servers and funded tournaments. They'd get insane backlash if you needed to pay money to access new guns, which is really the only thing they could add since characters are all generic.

The thing is, we all know that mobile gaming has issues. But to take those issues and use them to dismiss an entire part of the industry and its players, all while holding up 'core gaming' as some pure, blameless entity being tarnished by mobile's presence is stupid. It's no different from someone trash-talking another console while making their system of choice out to be the best ever. No one would take an article called "How Sony Ruined Everything" seriously, would they? Even though the push towards an even older and more graphically-focused audience than Sega's eventually led to gaming's image being irrevocably tied to the 18-35 male demo, driving fans, genres, and companies out in the process.

No, I'm sure that wouldn't go over well. So what makes mobile any different?

I'm okay with microtransactions/DLC if I like the content. I absolutely hate roulette and gachapon-style content though because it enforces an addictive gambling mindset. I think that's really toxic for gaming as a whole and I wouldn't mind games that use it being classified as gambling.

Yeah.

Trouble is, some of those games are genuinely good to the point you put up with said gacha. There should be non-gacha alternatives, like the Puzzle and Dragons games GungHo did for the 3DS. Because honestly at this point I wouldn't blame anyone for hacking to increase their otherwise IAP-based game credits.

Gacha games are weird, like whales obviously will be at the top, but f2p players who grind a lot still have a decent position within the game and feel great with their positioning in the game, at least I think that from the most time a good gacha game will have segregated from the most part the whales at the top ranks and the rest in the middle

In my opinion, F2P are cool when you can play them at super short bursts like in the bathroom or something, but those f2p games that have events were you hav to play relative long sessions (15-30 minutes) each 3-4 hours are fucking terrible.

That's why I kinda like fe heroes, the stamina is short but with that is enough to play 3-5 minutes and move on. But also I already start to think that there is nothing left to do
