Wouldn't be surprised to know its a rip off of the Harvard Crimson

It sort of is. They used to be call the Indians but everyone got PC so that went away. They then took the Cardinal, singular for the color and not the bird.

Like the Mean Green, or the Crimson Tide, or... the Heat, I guess?

Good point.
Ah, that makes sense. I always assumed it was the bird, and the mascot was a tree because that is where a cardinal would live.

Stanford tree is one of the best/worst mascots in the game. I love how fucking stupid it looks and how crazy it acts, but at the same time the costume looks like it is about to fall apart.

Best mascot, removing my obvious bias towards Chief Osceola & Renegade, is clearly the Oregon Duck. That thing is a branding powerhouse, and a totally ham-it-up guy. The ESPN ad where he is wearing the giant Corso head is fucking GOLD.

Should've gone with the Robber Barons like the students wanted. Couldn't be a more fitting mascot for Stanford.

That doesn't mean he can't have a degree. Christian Ponder got his degree in 2.5 years and already has an MBA, working on a second masters right now. If luck carried in a lot of credit (likely give his brains) then he could have earned a degree by now (and certainly by the end of this spring term).

If he has a degree this spring, he will definitely be out. I could see a guy like him staying for another year if he didn't have a degree yet though.
He doesn't have his degree yet. He's already said this. Not to mention his father is a former NFL exec and current AD at WVU, so the Lucks aren't exactly want for money. If this proves to be the last draft with the big money, no way you miss out on 40+ million guaranteed. If the CBA does go in effect prior to and sets that rookie wage scale, who knows?

Stanford (and schools of its ilk) are less forgiving with carrying AP/IB credits up from high school than, say, a Florida State. Schools in general have cut back on allowing a ton of credits because they want kids to go for four years. 3 is the max AP/IB credits for at least a couple of schools I know.

ACC is going to have some new QBs next season. Yates, Wilson, Tyrod, Nesbitt, Verica and Ponder are gone. Does Jacory still have eligibility?

True, but at the same time they are a lot like ND where you can't just get in on scholarship, you need to be smart too. So it would follow that if Luck got in then he would probably have good AP scores, mostly 4s and 5s. I didn't know he was in an NFL family though (don't follow Stanford or the NFL), so knowing that I agree that he will probably get out this season, especially if the CBA hasn't gone through.

I don't think you read the second paragraph.

Edit: Ah, I think my 3 might have confused you. I meant 3 credits not 3 on a score. Nobody would give you credit for a 3. I know my school only gave credits for 5s.

Carolina won't move unless some sort of franchise QB is involved. Unless they actually think High School Rings is the answer.

Dead serious. You're not going anywhere in this league without a franchise QB.

Destroying your team to get a possible bust isn't the way though, Also Gore value possibly up in the air with that hip injury.

Honestly unless they think that Clausen is garbage, I'd consider trading the pick if I'm carolina. They desperately need help on the offensive and defensive lines. I'd also trade Steve Smith for a mid round pick while teams might still want him.

Wait, are you a Panther fan?

There is no way we take Newton...oh please no no no.
9er fan, bro.

Internet mock draft boards are about as useless as forum trade proposals.

I can't believe some mock boards are wanting us to get Newton. Fuck that shit

I know right. Please don't. What will we have, the 7th pick? Luck and Mallet will probably be gone. Maybe trade down and pick up Moore in the 2nd. Whatever happens they need to do something about the QB situation.

You know VT, a HB or WR screen or 8 wouldn't have been too bad a call to make, in the face of CONSTANT LB BLITZES

True I wouldn't give up established players like Willis (Gore? Not so much. RBs are replaceable) but if the Skins had any draft picks I wouldnt mind giving a bunch of them upto move up and get Luck. You need a QB to be the face of the franchise and set the tone nowadays. Can't win with castoffs like Rex Grossman or some old vet retread playing game manager anymore.

We need..like...the first 10 picks in the draft to be honest. We've made terrible decisions on draft day for the past couple of years. If Clausen showed more promise I'd say we should trade the pick...but...if Luck comes out, I think you almost have to go with him at 1.

Possible bust? You haven't watched many Stanford games have you. Luck is better than half the NFL starting QBs right now.

Stanford is the #2 team in the nation........Oregon is the only team they can't really matchup with, and still had an 18 pt at their place

Is there word of him coming out? I think that'd be a mistake on his part

Mallett is considered a second round prospect to most teams because he's a dumbass with awful intangibles. Moore said he's coming back for another season.

That one big fumble was really what took them out of that game. They were rolling just fine otherwise.

I haven't watched Locker much. How's he?
