Does anyone find it disturbing everyone is talking about Texas in the NCG? Yeah, it will most likely happen but it just seems rigged when they say it as fact.

It is rigged with the BCS system. There are just enough holes in it to allow a freak occurrence where a non BCS team can get into the championship game. This may be as close as we ever get to seeing it happen.

I dont think people (pollers) realize how bad the Big 12 was this year.

The best OOC win for a Big 12 team: Oklahoma State over a 7-5 Georgia. Seriously there isnt another OOC victory close. So Texas has proceeded to beat no one OOC, Sam Bradford-less Oklahoma (and barely), Oklahoma State team who lost to both Houston and got shut out by that Sam Bradford-less Oklahoma, and a Nebraska team with no offense. Every other team in the Big 12 is complete shit.

Even the teams you named in the Big 12 are complete shit. They're making the Big East and the ACC look good.

So:

Alabma vs. Texas - NCG
Ohio St. vs. Oregon - Rose
Florida vs. TCU - Sugar
Georgia Tech vs. Cincy - Orange
Boise St. vs. ??? - Fiesta

is this correct?
Hmm...I hope we're not putting TCU over in the Sugar like we did Michigan the year we were supposed to eat their lunch. Nah.... PEACE.

I concur, then again, I don't think Cinci's efforts in the Big East have been crazy impressive. TCU, ftw. It's been a pretty sub-par year all around though.

I think Sugar gets the last pick so there is a good chance the Florida plays Cincy or Boise.

Having the top 2 in the BCS play in a game before the BCS. Could have just skipped the SECCG game this year, to make things REALLY interesting :P
obviously I'm talking about a different system, in which "wouldn't it be cool" if we had these great teams all playing each other.

Imagine the following happen, who would be voted AP national champ?

TCU trounces florida, Texas barely beats Bama

Cinci wins their bowl, texas beats bama

TCU beats florida, Bama barely beats texas

Split national championship is very much in play, or would be if people would admit how good some of the "non traditional" teams are and evaluate what actually happens on the field instead of going on name brand teams.

Wouldn't it be nice to just put those controversies down in a year like this with an extra game? Oh right, we don't have time...because you know, it's a month till these games :lol

No they don't :lol

TCU and Cincy look just as good as Texas after this weekend while Bama just beat down the team many consider to be the second best in the country.

So...um....who is the team that "many" considered to be #1?

Only way for a split would be if Bama loses. Even a 1 point, miracle win by Bama should not be split, simply for beating back to back #1 or 2's.

NO ONE ELSE just came off playing a top 5 team (last week of the season), except Alabama and Florida.

GO TEXAS!!!!

Fuck off haters, so soon you guys forget about Bama win over Tennessee that they had to block a field goal to win. This game is about match ups and Texas deserves to go to the national title just as much as Bama.

Bama's not limping into the bowl season, are they? Come from behind victory at their rival's stadium where they haven't won in years. Then threw an emphatic beat down on the defending national champions (a real title defense mind you, since most of the team from a year ago came back this year). On the other hand, Texas needed a monumental choke (kick out of bounds, and horse collar) to squeak by Nebraska. Come on.

Colt McCoy is going to set Buffalo back 5 years.

Bite your tongue!

Shit won't happen, no one is that incompetent.

Vlachos and Johnson's blocking, and Suh's domination were some of the best individual football I've watched this season, especially Suh. Reggie White 2.0

Icing the kicker never works. You Hear that Nebraska coach or any coach!!!!!!!

Sure it does. Last year's Iron Bowl. We call time out, they kick it anyway and nail it. Re-kick --> block!

And TCU, and Cincinatti, and Boise.

BCS needs to go die in a fire.

I agree BCS needs a playoff system, but we are bitching about ifs. If the BCS had a playoff system it would be different, will we don't have a playoff system. Texas is ahead of those teams in points, so that is what we got.

Also I know Bama had a good offense game against Florida, but their offense sucks Texas matches up good against Bama.

The 'name' team would win in either of those situations.

The voting is rigged, there is no way around that fact. It's a bullshit system solely designed to keep the money in the power conferences, there is no other purpose for the system.

It's a shame, college football could easily be the best sport around, if they just settled things in a fair way on the field.

These last couple of games worked as a bit of a BCS playoff. You just have to be in a BCS Conference!

hmm, well as long as we don't get TCU vs. Boise. I think most people would prefer to have the mid-major schools playing BCS schools and not eachother.

It's kind of depressing and anticlimactic, the way the BCS bowls always play out, really. Even if TCU, or Boise, or Cincy were to beat Florida...nothing will change.

you telling me that if bama beats Texas 7 to 6 and TCU houses Florida, there wouldn't be some AP vote split? Of course you are, you're a bama homer on a justifiable high after a nice win today :)

Actually there probably wouldn't be because the writers and media are homers for big conferences and big name coaches, but there really should be.

The NC is as mythical today as it was 20 years ago when people were simply voting on who had the best body of work.

TCU played Boise in the Poinsettia Bowl last year, it's not going to happen this time around.

Bama? AFAIK, we were just symbolic #1's due to our holding the crown. If it were a non-SEC team reigning, I think Bama woulda leapfrogged us a while ago. I said it a few weeks ago, we've been like OSU from years past. We've been doing just enough to win the tougher games on our schedule, but nothing impressive. PEACE.

Hopefully TCU gets a shot at Florida. I fear that it is not going to happen but we will see.

This was a bittersweet victory for me. Growing up in Austin and a TCU alum, I was half hoping for a missed field goal there at the end. At least it does not allow me to be disappointed with Cincy going instead of TCU. I bet we will see some number two votes for both Cincy and TCU after that performance by Texas.

So pissed at Nebraska. If those corn husking hicks could just finish the last minute without fucking up we could have had the chaos in the ever increasingly stupid BCS. I DEMAND CINCY/TCU/BOISE IN THE NCG!

Man, this Big 12 game is wack so far. A battle of offensive ineptitude in the first quarter, the FG kicker aside. I think I'm gonna sit the rest out, since I already know the outcome. Texas is down going into the second half, McCoy brings them back. PEACE, and God Bless.

Looks like I was almost right on that one.

And lol @ the people saying Alabama is gonna destroy Texas, etc...one week removed from Bama escaping Auburn in a regular season game. When was the last time a Mack Brown team didn't show up for a bowl game? They beat Ohio State last year, beat Arizona State the year before, Iowa before that and of course USC the year before that.

Let's not get too hasty.

SportsCenter dick just said that the team wearing "maroon" was the better team in the SEC championship game.

I didn't realize Mississippi State was playing tonight. Dumbass.

Correct! Listen I like TCU hell I'm from and live in Fort Worth I know they been playing good football, but I wouldn't put them ahead of Texas. Sue played an unbelievable game that people don't see very often from a college player and gave Colt hell all night Bama doesn't have that.

Except have An Offense.

I'd still argue against your point, anyway.

They needed a game winning drive to beat an Ohio State team that was even worse than this year's. The only thing that works in their favor this time around would be the "disrespect" card.

He's correct, it's Alabama, the Maroon tide

Mack Brown will have this team ready just like every other bowl Texas plays.

Texas is a lot like Florida, looked a lot better than they were because they played awful competition. Difference was that Texas didn't have to play a great team in their CCG. Florida did, and got stomped.

Can't believe Nebraska handed that game away like that. Wow.

But Texas looked worse more recently. Clearly showing that they are going to get killed.

I'm not saying we are going to win, but judging the MNC off of one game is a bit silly too.

Even a +1 game would solve so many problems:

Alabama v. Cincinnati
Texas v. TCU

Sorry Boise State, join a real conference or play more than one team a year.

Key words "winning drive" I don't care if you win by one, two or twenty points. It doesn't matter all that matters is the win. Style points in the BCS are what brings down college football the most, and teaches the players the wrong way to win.
