College Football Week 2: Electric Boogaloo

Damn. I don't think anything else could've possibly gone wrong this evening. FG goes off the upright, fumble on the goal line, another failed 4th-and-goal, Rice and Hall both leave the game... ugh.

Your defense is going to have a fun time dealing with Harvin next week if what you say is true.

Probably, I am hoping we were just looking forward to next week and had a bad game. The offense was impressive again though. If you run 100% spread option and not that 50/50 stuff he runs with Leak we will not be able to stop you.

You know its interesting. When Tebow was on the field tonight, you could noticeably see a difference in our offense. I didn't think the change-over was going to be that extreme, but come next year our opponents shouldn't even bother looking at our tapes from this year.

Poor Texas, this has got to hurt at home, though I passed out at the end of the first half till a few minutes ago, and I thought they were out of it way back then.

God what an ass kicking my AZ cats got tonight. Congrats LSU, you actually are a football program! I have no idea what we are right now....

you're that other team from Arizona ;)

Who the hell ranks the teams at the beginning of the season? Texas ****ing sucks.

Nothing like starting off the new season with the defending champs getting beat though.

Only thing that sucks is OSU is gonna get a huge bump when the BCS standings come out just for beating the #2. Maybe enough of a bump that they could still play in the National Championship with one loss.

It doesn't matter though. The BCS overrates the Big 10/Pac 10 and underrates the SEC. So, its not like Auburn will get a shot even if they go undefeated again.

It has been a point of contention for years. A lot of people dont like the idea of pre-season polls at all. However, its hard to imagine life without them, and with the BCS (as shitty as it is) only starting up in the middle of the season, you need something in the mean time.

I think Cal is a better example of the problems facing pre-season polls than Texas.

boo hoo.

ohio state would probably murder any team in the SEC. Texas is still a sweet team, and anyone that watches college football can attest to that. This game wasn't an example of Texas being overrated but Ohio State showing exactly how good they really are. Texas should still be in the top 8 or so next week, and they will be in the coaches poll.

Bow to your new NCAA football Overlord.

Also, big, BIG props to McCoy. Dude was the only damn consistant player on that offense with the recievers dropping passes left and right.

Good News: My team doesn't play them this year.

Bad News: My team is Purdue, and we still suck. But we're 2-0 wooooooooo

I remember a few years ago when we were #5 in the country. Those were the days.

Yeah... not having Kyle Orton really has to be a bummer :lol

it's ok. you sure showed those Red Hawks today.

I love how the FSU fair-weather fans disappear after their scare with Troy. :lol

I guess playing 7 teams ranked lower than our first "patsy" games against Southern Miss and UCF doesn't have to mean you have an easy schedule. :lol

^ Necessary jab.

Jeez. Just got back from watching the FSU game. That was pathetic. FSU's defense was stifling last week, but they were sucking tonight. And our offense sucked as usual so that did not help matters.

Next week's game might be tough. Hopefully Xavier Lee gets some playing time.

just got back from the game

OSU was clearly the better team, and Troy Smith is a beast. He completely dominated our secondary. # 11 (gonzalez?) was a stud as well.

Our playcalling was absolutely awful. Almost every pass was either a screen or a dump off. Pathetic. I guess that's expected out of a rookie QB, but why the **** do you run a sweep when it's 3rd and 1. OSU's run defense was very vulnerable. We needed to run it up the middle way more.

OSU will win the championship if they get better at stopping the run.

I was actually watching the OSU-Texas game and didn't feel the need to drag my laptop into the living room to document, highlight, and respond to your absurd trolls. Putz. Needless to say, Florida(The Gators) didn't look all that bright today, either. So I think you should shut it, or face the risk of FSU beating the everliving shit out of UF come the end of November. As for the FSU-Troy game? Like Coach sez, a Win's a Win. Coming off that emotional victory over Miami merely 5 days ago and expecting FSU to lay the wood to Troy was something only a fanboy would believe, or in your case, deranged Florida Gator fan. Your time is coming; prepare.

We won our game 42-0. How exactly did we not have a bright day?

And I'm sorry you needed more than 5 days to prepare for the powerhouse that is Troy. :lol :lol

That 0.9 rushing yards per play really scares me for November.

To be fair, we did play like shit. Even though we only had 5 days to prepare, that did not stop us from destroying the Citadel last year after having the same amount of time to prepare. Our running game continues to suck, and that is making it easy for the other team to play defense because all they have to do is play the pass. We need to figure out what the hell is wrong with the running game. I think we have talented backs, but something's not working. Maybe the play calling or our offensive line. Not sure. Hopefully we can fix some of the problem by next Saturday.

Well, after 2 years of play calling under the protection of the video game QB on easy, Vince Young, my most hated offensive coordinator is back. God damn it Greg Davis, you ****ing suck. You are running the RRIP offense (Run, Run, Incomplete, Punt), and refuse to teach our recievers how to catch, but then again, I would be out of practice too if the ball ever made it to the recievers maybe twice a game. Could we not run a play action and at least give it to the TE on 1st down or something? Yes the run was kicking their ass, but it fails to keep working if you do the same counter play 400 times in a row.

I am pissed, not because OSU won, but because we played like trash tonight. I was most pissed when it was 3rd and 15 deep in our own territory, with only 6 minutes to play, so what do we do? Naturally, an option!

GOD DAMN IT, we need a better offensive coordinator.

It was a fantastic game! Zenon is becoming a monster on the field and QBs are really going to have to be on the look out for him. Next week is going to be awesome as we travel to take on Auburn.

I definitely agree. Our entire section groaned when that option occurred. Such shitty playcalling. A sweep on 3rd and 1? wtf. We need a new offensive coordinator, one that doesn't use the shotgun formation every single play. At one point in the 3rd or 4th, our two running backs were the leading receivers. Pathetic.

Who the hell was the OSU punter and kickoff guy? Are the two on steroids?

Such a depressing night all around, I had a feeling the ol' Greg Davis was gonna show up when Vince left, I tried to put it in the corner, not thinking about how a decent defense would be able to tear it apart. Now I feel like we have Chris Simms and Roy Williams all over again, and yet Greg Davis refuses to use the damn talents.

Oh, and quality kickers and punters like those are what you get when you offer them scholarships, unlike UT. Its why we really never have a great kicking game, Mack refuses to burn a scholarship on somebody that can generate points like that.

Good game Fresno. We played inconsistent tonight and didn't have the sense of urgency we needed to have on every possession. Oklahoma game next week should be awesome and it needs to be said that Mike Belotti is the most underrated coach in college football. It took serious sack to call a fake FG.

Hopefully our injuries heal up.
