:lol :lol :lol :lol Just too many gems.

I still don't fully comprehend why Todd sucks so much last game. I hope either he or Burns are up to the task next week or LSU will eventually wear down our Defense.

What kind of coach says that unless its some sort of reverse psychology bullshit?

After the pitiful offensive production in the Miami game and the 2 week break, I expect us to come out firing on all cylinders with our offense.

Way to man up, Chavis. I'd be pissed if Kevin Steele said anything like that.
I don't know about you, but I'd just be brimming with confidence after reading that if I were a Vol. Yep this Chavis guy would really have me optimistic about the outlook of this Satuday's game, lol.

Not sure about that. We have a lot of young faces...

I saw that yesterday. God he is such a terrible coach.

Chavis is my favorite coach in all of the SEC. I hope he never leaves UT! (Or, if he does, he goes to Auburn after their DC inevitably leaves.)

<3 Chavis.

He is a terrible coach. We have the players to go up against Florida's play makers but instead he will call plays the entire game so that they sit back in a zone preventing the big play and Tebow will throw 10 yard passes all day.

Oh snaps!! :lol

Great stuff.

Oh man I hope the same Auburn teams shows up to play this weekend, but I doubt it as every year the LSU/Auburn match up is a fight to the last play.

I'm calling it now.

If Todd doesn't show up early in the game, let's say within the first quarter and a half, Burns is going to come in and start killing you guys with the playaction keeps. He'll open up the offense because you'll have to respect his speed and defend things (like the many fake hand-offs we run) you didn't really have to worry about with Todd. He'll get huge yardage on seemingly broken plays as he passes when everyone thinks he is making a mad scramble under pressure. Todd will be but a memory. It will be great.

While Todd's QB play was, shall we say, less than stellar, it was the penalties that really killed you guys. He's a young QB who kept getting put into a hole and that wrecked his confidence.

What was it that Tubby liked better about Todd? He's a better passer? Are there any issues with Burns' grasp of the playbook? (I really haven't been keeping up with that.)

Todd is a better passer(At least more accurate), and I think over all, he's a bit more mature and level headed, but he's a juco so that's expected. But, boy, did we ever get penalties. Like to false starts in a row. Ugh.

I can't remember where I heard this (I think maybe from a talking head during pregame) but they said Todd's leadership and him being the more vocal of the two is what put him over the top. The entire time the battle was going on the updates kept saying they were pretty-much equal ability-wise. Burns is obviously the better runner though.

I dunno, but for me personally I look for leadership in my damn coaches and skill in my players. This ain't the NFL.

You've got a point about the penalties too. I think two long 3rd down conversions were wiped-out because of false starts. Still I like Burns better for the spread and think the sooner he gets good the sooner AU will rise to the Campbell caliber team.

We'll have to see how this plays out. I do think it was a mistake to switch all out to a spread in one year, with no sort of transition.

Just got an e-mail from Auburn asking that people please not boo our team. They are trying hard. It also says

ESPN Game Day will be in town this weekend and we need everyone to come out and show them how much we support our team. Let's show Chris Fowler, Kirk Hebstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard true fan support and loyalty for Auburn!

Looks like it'll be even harder to park Saturday morning than I expected.

It's hard to not get pissed-off when the reason you aren't scoring is false starts and fumbles. I hope they don't boo, but the team damn well deserves it if it's for the aforementioned reasons. If they are just outclassed by LSU that's a different story.

A great moment in the Auburn-Alabama rivalry:
"Punt Bama Punt" (this year's game on Thanksgiving weekend should be a great one)

The game was played on December 2, 1972 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The #2-ranked and undefeated (10-0) Alabama team led by head coach Bear Bryant came into the game as a 16-point favorite over the Shug Jordan-coached Tigers, who entered the game with a record of 8-1. For the first three and a half quarters the Tide seemed to have the game well in hand.

Alabama led 16-0 with ten minutes left in the game. With less than 10 minutes remaining, an Auburn drive stalled and managed only a field goal, which made the score 16-3. Reportedly, Jordan's decision resulted in boos from both sides of the crowd: Auburn fans for the appearance of giving up, and Alabama fans because it ruined the point spread. On the ensuing possession Alabama was forced to punt. Auburn's Bill Newton blocked Greg Gantt's punt and his teammate David Langner ran the ball back 25 yards for an Auburn touchdown, narrowing the score to 16-10. Several minutes later, Alabama was forced to punt again and once again Newton blocked the punt and Langner again returned it for a touchdown. Gardner Jett kicked the extra point and Auburn won the game 17-16.

With a few minutes to play in the game, Auburn's David Langner intercepted an Alabama pass to stop a come back. As he went over to the sideline, Coach Shug Jordan was upset with him. Langner said, "But, coach, I intercepted the pass," to which Coach Jordan said, "Yeah, but our plan was to make them punt."

When I read the Chavis quote last night, I pretended he was simply saying that who knows when the shit is going to hit the fan and you have a bad game. Because if I don't pretend that's what he meant, I get this twitch. And I just know that the only thing that can make this twitch go away is running over him with a large SUV... multiple times.

I just can't wait for him to man-up our linebackers on Percy Harvin/Chris Rainey/[insert other fast Florida player here]/etc.

It comes with being a fan.

I'm just now starting to enjoy watching Alabama play. I can probably say in the last decade, I've been able to actually enjoy...5 or 6 games.

Tennessee last year, The Florida Blowout (though, that was tempered at the end, much to Pxl's enjoyment), The 2 Florida wins in 99, Clemson this year (though I was tensed for 2/3rds of the game, waiting for the "Real" Alabama to show up). Maybe the Texas Tech Bowl Game.

I did enjoy watching the 2 Oklahoma games. Tough games that Alabama played tough with them, even though in the end they lost. Would like to eventually see another series between the 2 schools.

I always enjoy watching Georgia play- you never know if you will be drenched in sweat, tears, or spit at the end. (or beer plus the above if you are at the stadium).

Boy, you do have the triple curse this year, and I don't date people I haven't met. Especially if they have testicles. :lol

Fulmer does tighten up for the UF game. I think that this year they have to open it up a little, since they can't rely on Foster.

You know that is exactly what he is going to do and have Berry/Morley about 30 yards off the line so that nothing gets past them.

I am pretty much convinced Foster is the 3rd best back on the team.

I guess, but I used to enjoy OSU games all the time, even in 2002 and 2003 when our offense was unbelievably frustrating. I guess it's just that this year and last year OSU hasn't been very exciting or good, hasn't made many big plays, and hasn't played well in big games. Woe is me.
jjasper said:
Not even the most overhyped game of all time?
What, UM-OSU 2006? Because that was the last one I enjoyed.

ALSO: Tressel said today that in practice Pryor has been taking 65% of the snaps with the first-team offense, with Boeckman taking the other 35%.

Yep. I hope he proves me wrong, but after a while... you start to notice a trend with these things. However, I do think Berry gets his 3rd straight game with an interception despite Chavis's incompetence.

Also, from a talent standpoint, Foster is definitely the 3rd best RB on the team. I'm all for Creer getting 10-15 carries a game. The guy is damn exciting.

I think with Tebow, you have to make him run. Pressure making him run keeps the ball out of those receivers' hands. Can the defensive line and backs penetrate? Key question. At least you will have that crowd on your side.

You know what. I actually believe that you took his comment as an offer for a date.

Thats funny. I've seen quotes from UF coach's that say he is one of the best backs they have ever seen.
Coach Speak. Just trying not to give us any "Bulletin Board Material" to fire us up. The only things Foster has on Hardesty and Creer is experience and strength. Had Hardesty stayed healthy the past few years, we wouldn't be talking about Foster approaching the all-time rushing record at UT right now, especially after some of the big game fumbles he's had.

Thinking about it Foster has never been the best back on the team. Coker, Hardesty, and Riggs were all better than him but by injuries and stupidity he kept being the #1 guy.

Coker was such a waste of talent. Couldn't stay away from that sticky-icky.

Biggest waste since James Banks. Anyway Creer has a similar skillset, and isn't a complete dumbass so it isn't really that big a loss.

Who'd love to see this scenario

East Carolina goes 13-0 and finishes the season beating a previously 12-0 Tulsa team. But in the end, they lose the automatic bid to a BCS bowl to the BYU Cougars who also had a undefeated showdown with the Utah Utes. And without the automatic bid, none of the BCS Bowl sponsors select them for there bowl. But who does go, Virginia Tech and West Virginia because they won there conference.

No I'm not a ECU hater or anything, I'd just love to see another nightmare scenario for the BCS.

As long as it's BYU in the BCS game, I could handle that without freaking out. But yeah, the more nightmares the BCS has to deal with, the faster they'll have to fix the system. Automatic bids need to go!

I think their behaviour has shown they don't have to change anything. As long as the conferences are making money and they are making money, to hell with what the fans and coaches think.

Relayed from an Auburn Fan that for now has no voice

For the Pac-10ers in the college football thread: Travel is vastly overrated. I made plenty of cross-country trips with my job and it's no big deal. Especially not for 18-21 year old kids. Lets get back to how much the Pac-10 sucks sans USC.

Lonestar said:

Didn't Auburn just squeak a 3-2 victory out over a team that just lost to Louisiana Tech? The Pac-10 had a really bad week but sometimes you gotta pick your moments for the attack.
