Comic-Con 2007 - E3 Demos for the Masses

Just got back from the Comic-Con preview night, and was slightly disappointed at the number of companies exhibiting video games, but those that did brought some good stuff. Sadly, this year Nintendo did not have a booth (I guess because E3 was so recent), and Square-Enix devoted all their space to figurines instead of demo kiosks from what I saw, though they did have a large screen playing trailers. (Dragon Quest Swords was playing when I passed through)

Thankfully Sony, Konami, and Capcom all have their own booths devoted to demos. The Capcom booth featured a Lost Planet tournament, and had a special enclosed area for what looked like DMC4 and RE:UC demos, which seemed to have quite a line. Konami was showing off DDR Supernova 2 and Hottest Party, Silent Hill, Dewy's Adventure, Contra 4, and a few other games. The Sony booth had plenty of games as well, including Uncharted and Heavenly Sword, along with a stage for people to make fools of themselves playing Singstar.

Any other Gaffers down for Comic-Con? Any impressions on the games?

On a semi-related note, the DDR Supernova 2 setup featured a huge background advertising the game...and one of the girls in the background seemed to be holding a Wii-mote. Has a Wii version even been talked about as a possibility? Most likely they accidentally reused the figures from the Hottest Party background, which was adjacent to it, but you never know...

Oh, and if this has been posted elsewhere, apologies!

I only got around to playing the PS3 stuff at Sony's booth, maybe check out more later. I was also disappointed at the lack of playable/buyable stuff at Square-Enix's booth, but daaaamn everything else was extremely nice.

I really need to check out Capcom and Konami's booths tomorrow. I didn't know they had that much set up...

One of the guys I went with played some Warhammer Online... ran into an arena and got turned into a chicken, then ran away. The next guy that stepped up couldn't quit laughing at what he was controlling.

It was kinda sad though, everyone was clamoring around the Heavenly Sword demo and everything else got neglected except for the kid wobbling on a log on Uncharted. But even he was staring at Heavenly Sword instead. :lol

Nintendo did not have a booth because they will be back in SoCal in October for E For All. Pretty stupid to have two huge consumer shows within 3 months of each other. They will also be at PAX in less than a month, too.

I'll definitely be checking out Capcom and Konami's booths. I thought Hottest Party was for Wii, not Supernova 2? I won't be there until Friday, though.

I heard that most the exhibitors are putting up their games on SDTV's or something. I remember a few posters coming back and saying some of the games didn't look right -- as if the resolution or TV wasn't set to HD.

Wouldnt want to companys' showing consumers what the majority of them will actually see when they buy the games. ^^

Uncharted? Holy shit! How was it! Did anyone of you play it? If not, then WHY THE HELL NOT!!

Stop drooling at Heavenly Sword, people! We're getting the demo this friday!

On a very semi-related note - I think we should get Para Para Paradise for Wii. Of course it's all out of fashion unfortunately.

it didn't look impressive enough to make me want to play it, honestly...

a Drawn to Life downloadable demo will be there at the THQ booth, if you want to try it for yourself, bring your DS by the booth, its a real small demo though.

It'll be at PAX too, I'll be at PAX as well, but not Comic-Con, got an upcoming milestone on my next game this week hehe

Hottest Party is for Wii, Supernova 2 is for PS2, but the Supernova stand had a character holding a wiimote. :lol I forgot that E for All was coming up so soon, but that doesn't seem to have stopped some of the others.

I'll have to stop by there tomorrow and check it out. I saw a number of other companies had games scattered in various booths; hopefully I'll get a chance to look around more.

Hi! Glad to have you here :D Good luck on Drawn to Life. :)

Thanks :) Ya, its our first big game at 5TH Cell, so we'll see how it goes, we're proud of it though, so is THQ, they like it a lot and are glad it was their first original IP for the DS

if you play the demo just remember its mainly to show of the drawing and how it relates to the tutorial level of the game, it doesnt even begin to show the real game
