Its on the Marriots hotel next door, pretty close to it, its lots of fun.

It's in one of the ballrooms in the hotel next to the convention (Marriott).

Awwwww yeaaaaah
Complete streetpass puzzles here I go.

Don't worry xD, I have connections, I have been able to get to Comic-Con free the last 3 years, I should be able to get in this time too. Even if I'm not able to get tickets, I can always enjoy the Nintendo Longue and the outside stuff.

How much to sneak a fellow gaffer in? :P

Yeah, didn't get in.

At least I have Wondercon Anaheim, which is selling out faster and faster every year. Give it three more years until it becomes a registration mess like San Diego Comic Con.

Then I can talk in Wondercon Anaheim in past tense like I do with San Diego Comic Con now :(

Yeah. I quickly got a weekend pass for that.
How is that, or can anyone you know describe what it's like?

I'm legit pissed I (among others) didn't get a single day badge for this event after all that waiting.

I made my purchase but haven't gotten a confirmation email yet. Is that normal? I hope everything went ok with the credit card.

Highlights of the day were the two tweets that had one person have no money to buy tickets but got in and one person who had no desire in going get to the ticket order page

I've got extra salt and jelly today B^)

I am kind of biased since I attended Wondercon Anaheim since it moved to SoCal in 2012 and I love it.

It has amazing cosplay presence compared to San Diego Comic Con, it is a more "pure" comic con with less Hollywood, but Hollywood has gotten bigger and bigger presence since the con doubled in size. It is run by the same people behind San Diego Comic Con, so the reg is amazing and the exhibit hall is quite a sight, not as many big booths, but lots of amazing "niche" booths. If you have a nerd hobby, you are well represented in the booths there.

Is NYCC relatively easier to get in?
It's the same as SDCC now. 2014 was a mess and I imagine 2015 will be no different. What's worse with NYCC is that the badges aren't tied to your name so it was scalper heaven. They didn't even have a limit so people were buying in multiple quantity and putting them up on eBay right away.

How can they allow that? Are they not aware or just not care?

I'm more gamer than anything else, but I'll check it out regardless. I just need a hotel.

Still wish I was able to go to SDCC just for the experience since I moved to San Diego last year. I was able to check out the Nintendo Lounge, so that was something.

I assume WonderCon is really big now? I wasn't sure what to expect and went when it was in SF in 2011 I think it was? Basically a big dealer hall, a couple older C-D list celebs for signing, a preview movie of a Green Lantern animated movie, and a couple panels.

They don't care. It was an insane mess for 2014. Their Facebook was getting destroyed by fans and I believe their CEO had to make a huge post explaining how they don't like scalpers. It's like SDCC before it gained popularity. NYCC is getting more attention with each year and they handled it poorly. I'm curious to see how its handled this year.

"We don't like scalpers at NYCC.... but feel free to buy as many tickets as you want guyz!!"

Phew, confirmation e-mail has arrived. First year going to SDCC (after many years of failing), and got in for all four days + preview night. Excited as hell.

Becoming comicon Jr.

Still haven t gotten mine what time did you order? I want to get a room but I need to know everything went through first.

Becoming comicon Jr.

Yup.

Wondercon Anaheim 2012: "This is a nice and comfy comic con, it isn't like mess that is San Diego Comic Con"
Wondercon Anaheim 2013: "This feels as crowded as Anime Expo was before it left Anaheim"
Wondercon Anaheim 2014: "HOLY CRAP, WHERE DID ALL THESE PEOPLE COME FROM. Sunday is more packed than Wondercon Anaheim 2013 was on Sauturday"

Wondercon Anaheim now is about double the size it was in San Francisco, this year they are taking over the whole con center and surrounding hotels, so capacity for 2015 should be between 70,000 and 85,000 depending on layout.

I think max capacity for Anaheim is 100,000, and they are probably 3 years from that at the rate they are growing.

Wow I figured it grew by A LOT. There was barely anyone there when I went, in comparison. Dealer hall was a little cramped, but that's about it.

Hope you guys don't mind that I get a bit salty when I make this year's OT. >___>

Yeah, that's why once Wondercon Anaheim broke every single attendance record and sold out of all badges on Friday of Wondercon Anaheim 2014, everyone who begged for Wondercon Anaheim to return to NorCal stopped trying to campaign for it since the con is a huge money maker for Comic Con International. It has become a huge beast of its own.

It also succeeded in its unstated purpose, it stalled Comikaze Expo's exponential growth. The official reason was because of Moscone, but all the locals know that the bigger reason is to stop Comikaze Expo from monopolizing the Los Angeles region.

UK Gaffer here. I really wanna go but have no idea what to expect or the cost involved. I should just go for it really.

You don't "just go". SDCC is months and months of planning. It's also not a great first con.

Haha this whole situation is ridiculous. The registration process is so darkly insane that people think I'm joking when I explain how it works. Can't wait for the Pro badge clusterfuck in march....

I got my e-mail today. Site's already down.

Normally, Pro Reg is easy-peasy.

Interesting. I sure wish NoCal had some bigger cons, although I have noticed a growth of smaller anime/animation cons popping up in Oakland/SF. I get that there's not much in terms of buildings holding the capacity of people, which is too bad that we can't get large-scale cons here.

yea, and according the emails, a guaranteed badge. Last year pro-reg had the option to purchase an additional ticket. If that is the case this year some pro-reggers can help a gaffer out

Just got another e-mail stating that all Verified pros are getting in.

*Balmer fist pump*

Guest Passes have been extinct for three years now.

Yea, I've never been able to get a guest pass. Had the option to purchase an additional pass but everyone I personally know couldn't get off work/weddings/other plans

Same, I go up to NorCal for FanimeCon, I would like more excuses to visit :)

Will there be a WonderCon OP?

ReedPOP is a scummy ass company. They use the Turnstile System, which is how they "had more attendance than San Diego Comic-Con last year".

I hope so, if not I will make one myself. The con is awesome enough to get one.

As for ReedPOP, I agree. In the anime convention world, they are disliked for what they did to the New York Anime Festival. Their numbers are suspect, even when they ran NYAF, they used numbers that were sketchy and unreliable.

Turnstile attendance is important (especially since it is the metric used worldwide) but it is very different than Warm Body/Unique attendance. Turnstile is that a 4 day badge is 4 turnstile attendance and a one day badge is one day turnstile attendance. Unique/Warm body attendance is that regardless of what badge is being bought, one person counts as one unique attendance. San Diego Comic Con has a unique attendance of 130,000 people, the turnstile attendance for San Diego Comic Con is 650,000 people.

Another example is Anime Expo 2014, which had 80,000 unique attendance and 220,000 turnstile attendance.

And when CCI leaves San Diego, ReedPOP will come in and continue to use the name, only Comic Con instead of Comic-Con.

And they'll get away with it.

I'm so glad I don't have to be a part of this circus. o.o Exhibitor here. The online waiting room is a nightmare! Hope everyone who wanted them got a badge!

They really need to make a resident ticket sale, meaning I have to show up in person and show proof that I live here.

Although I'm not even sure I would that do now days. Seems like you drop a shit load of money to wait in lines over night, that doesn't sound fun at all.

Lol sharpie over the badge

We had someone from here say they worked security and he said nobody gave a shit or checked ID's with passes

They are just trying to scare you
That was me lol, like 3 years ago. There was no way in hell we could check your badge.

Only got Thursday and Sunday badges from pre-reg, didn't get in during regular reg today :(

Debating on going at this point. I really wanted to do preview night,Thursday, Friday and Saturday... :(

I think it depends on if you buy a "4-Day Pass" or 4 seperate "One-Day" passes, which one would think could be refundable but never tried to refund so not sure.

yeah, i got 4 badges and specifically opted out of consolidating them to a 4 day.

turns out that was a good idea, as 2 of us only got Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

which means we'll cut it down to all of us only going Thursday and Friday.

For open registration I was in a group of 30 people, 6 people got in. I was in another group of 15, 2 got in. You just need to get at least one day like Sunday, so next year you qualify for pre-registration.

Pre-registration chances are so much higher. I was in a group of 30, and almost everyone got in. More than half would get the days they wanted.

Or if anyone here works for a media company, writes a blog, has a podcast, etc... they can get a press pass to comic-con, which is free.
