Is there OT? Seems too soon for that right?

Who’s going? This will be my first Comic Con if I can get a ticket, is it true they sell out in minutes? From what I have seen the registration changed or something, like if you have been to previous cons then your registration was postponed or something? Unless you bought it at last convention.

Apparently you had to have made an account by Feb.12 of this year to just be able to buy a ticket. This morning I received and email pointing to the link where you will be able to purchase the tickets/badges and also they mentioned loading it into your browser ahead of time.

Tickets go on sale Feb 16th @ 9AM PST

hi OP. I remember you from last years thread. I plan on attending 3 days at the very most. I hope i get lucky with the badges. Last year i only ended up going two days.

How did the sale work last year? Same as this year?

I tried going last year but missed out on the badges. I overslept...

I am familiar with Anime Cons, but never have been to a big Con like Comic Con. I am wondering if I should do my hotel reservation now, or wait till I get my badge... Not even sure what the best hotels are in the area. Hopefully someone can post some their sage wisdom on all things comic con

I went in 2010 and had a blast. I got my tickets for 2011 at the con, but sadly had to sell them back. I also got tickets for 2012, but once again, couldn't make it. So I've had pretty good luck getting tickets in years past.

I haven't received the email with the link yet - maybe they're sending it out in waves.

I definitely recommend loading it into your browser; last year, there were some issues with people actually clicking the link. If you clicked the link rather than copying it and pasting it into your browser, the site wouldn't load.

Good luck!

Thats really good to know then. I guess ill have it up and leave my machine on till saturday... (don't we all leave them on anyway? lol)

I am taking a Comic-con break this year and not going, but have been many times. Good luck to all trying to get tickets.

Regarding hotels, they also go very fast, so I'd recommend getting reservations early and check their cancellation policy first. As to which hotels, I'd suggest looking at the free shuttle routes and selecting one with a stop or one very nearby. It simplifies things a lot. They have stops at all the major hotels, but also a little further away (Mission Valley, Hotel Circle etc).

Ah ok sounds good.

Ill probably do my hotel reg after I confirm my badge and badges for the rest of my party. But seems the early bird prices go till march on the hotels.

I wish the comic con in Manhattan was more like san diego's, it's way to far for me to go there and way too crowded.

I'll be ready, living in San Diego makes going wayyyy cheaper. I would try to just volunteer but I don't know when that opens, and that's more of a fight them getting tickets.

industry people continued to get screwed year after year. I hate it.
Why's that? Cause of guest passes?

Anyways, I got my free pro badge ez pz.

Good luck everybody. Last year was pretty brutal, especially with the link provided in the email being incorrect making everybody have to go through the website to find the queue. I found it about 30 seconds after they went on sale and I was around number 12k.

So is preview night worth the extra $15 bucks?

If you plan on buying backissues or some exclusives then yes, it's absolutely worth it. They also have screenings too. Plus anything you buy you'll only have to carry for a couple hours rather than an entire day if you wait.

Alright you sold me, if they have them when I try to buy (I doubt it) I'll get that. I have a feeling I'm not even going to be able to buy a 4 day pass.

Did you end up getting a badge? Any idea how many badges went out?

Are you allowed to carry backpacks? Seems like buying merchandise would be a pain otherwise.

Yes.
You will frequently see people will full bags and backpacks.

That said, they need to enforce the forgotten/probably dead rule against rolling travel bags. I nearly twisted an ankle dealing with them last year.

Ya I got mine and was able to pickup 1 each for my buddies who were 20k and 32k. The 20k guy said they sold out right before him so it seems they had plenty of badges. The thing with SDCC though is it's not the 4 day badges that sell out first, it's the Saturday single day which ends the 4 day option. Friday sells out pretty quickly after but if you're in line you should be able to get Thu, Fri, and Sun.

Living in San Diego and knowing people that can get me passes makes it a no brainer for me. It has become so much more enjoyable skipping panels and reading about them later. Those hall h lines. Ooof

Planning to register and grab tickets, first Comic-Con if we're able. A couple of questions, is it better to buy the tickets(two) seperately or together/one account? Is the preview night worth it? Saw one was already answered.

Going to be pretty expensive it seems. Flights for me to San Diego are $480 or so (both ways). Hoping I can find a deal on Hotels saturday afternoon if I do end up getting tickets. Anyone have suggestions on Hotels?

All my friends who showed any interest in attending this year's SDCC forgot to register for Member IDs on the website, so it looks like I will be going alone this year if I am lucky tomorrow. This will also be my first time attending.

Are the ticket purchases another cluster-fuck this year?

So, they instructed us to have Member IDs...which I did some time ago. because of a change in computers, I no longer have the original emails for that, but, hey, they say "If you forgot your Member ID, you can go to the Member ID section of the site!"....only thing is the Member ID section of the site is currently down, and will be down until after the weekend.

So how the fuck am I supposed to buy tickets tomorrow morning at 9am?

Here's the link to the 'Forgot Your Password' section of the website.

Thank God I don't have to worry about tomorrow's ticket sale. I luckily got all the passes I needed during the presale last August. Oh, and for those people trying to buy tickets tomorrow have a couple of computers set up to buy them.

So a friend and I are coming to SDCC from Australia this year, except we've run into a hitch. He didn't register his member ID on time, I though I could just buy two tickets but it doesn't seem to be the case without a second member ID.

Anyone know know of any options that I might have? Any at all.

Your SOL, they won't sell you a ticket without a member ID since your name goes on the ticket and they check when you pick them up.

That's upsetting. How would you put yourself into a position to buy a badge that someone cancels or refunds?

Anyone having luck yet? I'm just getting a constantly loading indicator with no change on the doorstep screen at all.

I got a msg saying that EPIC was at capacity and that it's unlikely that there are badges left. Trying again.
