In a better world, DC Entertainment/WB would realize that not every DCU-based film they make needs to follow the style and tone of the Nolan Batman films. Sigh.

Yeah, this is a thing I hate about Marvel movies these days (ie..they are all homogenized and similiar in style and tone) and it would be good to avoid that in DC

At least with Ant-Man they appear to be going for more of a comedy than a blockbuster action movie.

This is part of the reason why I feel like a Teen Titans movie could be entertaining, it's a bunch of younger super-heroes who don't take things quite a seriously as their adult counter-parts. Also, when they introduce Green lantern in the JL film, I almost want them to just go with Kyle Rayner since he's the most amusing of the Green Lanterns.

The movie has to pull some influence from these episodes.

Bruce charming Lois out of her pants.

Trolling the shit out of Clark.

Lex giving Bruce shit that he was able to rebuild Metropolis in two years while Gotham rots for decades.

I loved Nolans Bats.

I loved Man of Steel.

I loved Avengers.

I'm hyped as shit right now.

Seriously.

I mean i get loving Millers DKR but Snyder needs to sit and watch these episodes.

Fuck, BTAS too while we're at it, then he'll see the definitive Batman.

Marvel is already breaking out of that mold in my opinion. Iron Man 3 was a big break as it was a full-on Shane Black film. Thor 2 looks like a superhero-Game of Thrones and is shot far radically different than any other Marvel film, Guardians of the Galaxy sounds crazy based on concept that there's no way it'll be shot the same way or have the same tone. I haven't seen any footage for Winter Soldier, but if I were to guess that would probably be the only "normal" Marvel film considering it's very SHIELD oriented.

fuck this, give me jgl and 500 days of batman, nolan.

pay him a trillion dollars to do it and can this project before snyder tanks that franchise too, wb

Since the Flash will be the last movie before Justice League maybe the Justice League will fight Grodd and Gorilla City?

I would love to see an army of savage gorillas powered by the speed force and using advanced technology on their quest to take over the world. They just did this story in the new 52 Flash comic book. I think the villains should have super speed or else viewers would be like hey why don't superman, Flash and Wonder Woman just take em all out in 5 seconds. Having Gorilla city involved will ensure an army of super fast and powerful beings.

Even if they don't use Gorilla city I think they will go with an earth based threat like Atlantis or Themyscira in the first movie so it won't feel like they are copying the Avengers. They can do alien invasions and Darkseid in the 2nd and 3rd movie.

Snyder probably has free reign due to the success of MoS so I don't think the studio is going to push for anything.

I doubt they will give him free reign. He's not Nolan or James Cameron. I believe they actually picked him because they could control him. Alot of you probably don't remember but when The Dark Knight made a billion WB/DC basically came out and said all of our movies will be following the dark tone set by TDK hence why MoS was dark and depressing instead of being the bright and optimistic version of Superman you normally see.

Trolling isn''t ok. You might have fun doing it, but come on.

Do we live on the same planet?

Not even mentioning how they tried to turn Zatanna into a CW show for tween girls, the Joel Schumacher Batman films, or there original proposal to have Jack Black star in a comedy version of Green Lantern

It would be difficult pairing a gritty Iron Man with an enthusiastic Captain America, no? I think everyone in the Avengers have a good tone.

X-Men, however, can be very gritty.

Holy shit, amazing. I mean clearly done in response to the Avengers success, but if that's what it takes to get a Batman/Supes film then that's just fine.

The rest of the Justice League bore the snot out of me

WB didn't pick Snyder, Snyder was recommended by Christoper Nolan. I believe the story goes that after TDK became a huge success WB approached Nolan to reboot Superman but Nolan was busy with TDKR and probably wanted to try something different afterwards so Nolan told WB to grab Snyder.

On another note, Nolan originally disagreed with the ending to MoS but Snyder convinced him to go along with it. I don't think we need to worry about the studio strong arming Snyder into doing something he doesn't want to.

This is pretty awesome. Now please just cast someone for Batman that matches the hotness of Henry Cavill for the forthcoming epic Supes/Bats scenes.

But none of those were under Goyer's direct supervision. Even if I hate his dialog, he at least loves the comics enough to keep it somewhat faithful.

Apparently not. You live on some other alterantive plane of existence where Batman isn't the most recognizable superhero of all time. There's just no way in hell WB would fuck with Batman and give him superpowers. It just won't happen.

Are you strawmanning or did AC1 actually suggest they'd do this? Not that it would surprise me, but still.

I think it's personally reasonable to be skeptical of DC movies. They've sort of earned that for themselves. If Nolan's working on MoS2 I hope to god he either has no input on the Batman character or they go a decidedly different direction.

Yeah, but X-Men aren't set in the same movie world. The need to fit all Avengers characters later on into one movie hurt their separate entries imo. I hope in second round they will have more courage to go for different tones

as Lex.

I am serious about the Fassbender pick though. I'd love to see him as Bruce Wayne (though I have my doubts about him pulling off Batman).

Also this is the same company that didn't want Superman to be called Superman, didnt want him to fly, and said for him to get rid of the costume because it looked "too faggy". I dunno if you were around in the late 90s/early 00s but I was and I don't forget what WB has done and continues to do (just look at Jonah Hex, Green Lantern, and their planned Lobo film). Also Batman is not the most recognizable super hero of all time lmao.

Constantine isn't bad if you don't see as hellblazers Constantine (which isn't possible without the blond hair and looking like sting.)

I haven't seen MoS yet but I'm sure I'll like it. I'm really interested how this will turn out and I'm not sure how I feel about them rebooting Batman already. The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the best trilogies ever and it's still so fresh in my head. I'd rather have them somehow continuing the Dark Knight Story and 'merge' it in with Batman. However, I'll doubt that happen.

So, what are the chances of GL 2011's Hal Jordan returning for JL? The movie was terrible (mostly because of how big a a scale they tried to give it), bit the character was decent.

If they are recasting Batman they might as well recast Hal Jordan too. Reynolds makes more sense as a Wally West style goofball. Hal is more of a serious test pilot type someone more like Karl Urban or Chris Pine should play as him.

Having an older Batman would gel perfectly with the rumours of a Batman Beyond movie after it. I hope WB/DC knows we don't need another introduction to the character.

Well, Gaf has killed my excitement for this and I was never that excited for Avengers 2.

Thanks for ruining comics, you jerks. :(

That was not WB. That was one producer who had the rights to a whole bunch of DC licenses.

I could live with some magical super power nullifying stuff going down, with some sleuthing and occult evil doers. Zatanna and maybe even Silver Banshee....

True but if you think the rest are any better your fooling yourself. I don't think Jon Peters had anything to do with Green Lantern and Jonah Hex for example.

Green Lantern was an epic fuck up, due mostly to the fact WB had no control over it. They basically threw it at Martian Campbell and said "go for it" I imagine, had WB had a clear vision and a level of control, then it would have ended much better.

Jonah Hex was a low budget trash fest.

Maybe this point was already made, but I'll ask anyway. Does anyone else find it kinda off-putting that they're saying the sequel to Man of Steel - a SUPERMAN movie - is being inspired by a Batman story? Can WB do anything without leaning so damn hard on Batman?

So tell me, exactly what superpowers did Batman have in Scheumacher movies?
Also..the only superhero that comes even close to Batman in recognizability is Superman and considering the impact of the movies even this fight Batman would easily win.
