The Jeff/dad part was great. Shirley's house... not so much. I didn't like how they kept her family off-screen. Would've worked a lot better if they were actually interacting as opposed to just referencing jokes, but I suppose they couldn't afford it.

Decided to go back and watch some season 1 episodes, and spotted Badger from Breaking Bad making an apperance as Vaughn's friend:

...But yeah, re-watching Season 1 is like watching a completely different show. A completely different, but still great (better) show.

Please excuse me if this question has been asked before, but were the episodes for this season filmed last year?

Yes. That's why we are getting these Halloween and Thanksgiving episodes now. We'll have a Christmas episode too. Blame NBC for postponing the season.

Yes. NBC put the show on the shelf for 5 months

I still thinking having Chevy do pratfalls through an entire dinner would have been the best thing to happen with the character since his ice cream machine mishap. To hell with his age/insurance. I want to see the man fall into a Christmas tree, dammit!

She's actually cute when she's not doing that ugly Britta face.

yeah, I'm firmly team britta this year, and not just because she's banging the black guy.

this season is pretty solid so far, and I liked the most recent episode. I feel though with the whole jeff epiphany that the show is gearing up to go out on a high note- mixed feelings there.

He's also the guy who brings the lattes into the study room while Abed is filming his first film.

I miss Dick Jeff:-(

Cutest moment of the season so far. This + the Britta escape puts Team Britta firmly in the lead.

It seems Britta misses it too.
I always felt there were more natural a fit than Jeff/Annie, but dunno how I feel about it now that she and Troy have their thing, which I'm on-board with.

Hit me right in the feel. The whole scene, not just this. But still, nice to know Jeff isn't actually texting anyone. I'm wondering if he'll continue to do this after this episode. Would be a nice bit of character development.

Also, this led me to browse more of Community's official tumblr and found gems like this:

Every new episode brings the same feeling of deja vu in this thread. It's getting weird.

Two weeks ago some people were saying "this felt like old Community." Of course, some people disagreed.

One week ago, the same thing.

And now with this ep, again we have more people joining the "this episode finally felt like old/proper Community again."

Not only that, but some viewers are still not convinced that Season 4 is going anywhere. And it looks like some folks say the latest episode was bad, and some say it's they're favorite yet. Another repeating occurrence, eh?

The divisiveness and scattering of opinions are cranked up big time this season. It's astounding but I guess that's what one of the things that makes Community an interesting show.

I know i'm unnecessarily pouring gas on the fire at this point, but I have a feeling that would have been the response regardless of how the episodes actually turned out.
It wasn't hard to see coming with the division season 3 created and the behind the scenes drama only deeper entrenching some people's opinions (seemingly).

Yeah. Sadly I agree.

Also, I watched the PaleyFest panel on Hulu today. It was mostly a waste of time, but it solidified how much I cannot stand Alison Brie. She seems to want the spotlight in all the interviews and such. I don't find her funny at all, and of course she has overplayed the sexual thing to death. I'm fine with Annie the character, other than how her role was vastly increased to the detriment of Britta, but I'm just so put off and annoyed by Brie.

In my uninformed, unqualified opinion it just seems like the nerd obsession went a bit too much to her head. On the other hand Gillian always comes off as more mature and humble in interviews, at least to me.

I think I just declared war on the internet.

She wasn't oversexualized in the panel. She was doing that cigarette-smoking-boy bit to death early on, but I actually found it charming by the end.

And come on, "snailed it" is hilarious.

I was referring to her overdoing the sexual innuendo thing in interviews and such during the past 3 years. Not in the PaleyFest panel. "Has overplayed."

Her recent interview on The Daily Show was refreshingly absent of any of her usual over-the-top sexual shtick. I'd suggest you give that a go if you haven't seen it.

So is britta digging jeff or digging the whole psychiatry thing. I honestly don't know which vibe I was supposed to get after that episode.
This is how I see it:

It's the psychiatry

Probably sarcastic, but didn't quite hear her line

Community S4 |OT| I Remember When This Show Wasn't Awful

I don't think any of the past four episodes even got a chuckle for me, and I regret watching them because I feel like they've ruined the past seasons for me.
Now I'm at the point of wondering whether I should go on in the hopes of a good episode or call it a day.

Yeah, I was actually a bit disappointed and bothered by this when I started watching interviews with her. Plus, if you've read that essay about her college days... She seems like a bit of a freak TBH.
Must be dynamite in bed though.

Let's put it this way: I'd date Gillian, but I'm sure I'd find a way to have fun with Alison too.

The important thing is that we all remember my opinion is the correct one.

The latest episode is the best episode of the season by far, and the only legitimately good episode this season. It doesn't need any qualifications like "for what the show is now it was good" and it also doesn't need to be called "back to old Community." It was just a good episode.

Eh, I think you're blowing this a bit out of proportion. A lot of people have "their thing"... put some cameras into the equation and people go a bit crazy. In her recent interviews and in the outtakes the only thing that got my attention was how much of a dork she can be.
But in her older interviews she had a couple of moments... that were quite cringeworthy, I'll give you that.

Let's put it this way: I'd date Gillian, but I'm sure I'd find a way to have fun with Alison too.
have fun = bang her hard? :P
I'm actually the opposite, Gillian seems like a nice person but really boring at the same time.

I don't know, a while back someone posted a rather lengthy podcast interview with Gillian, and she came across as super-cute and weird in a very likable way. Brie is a cartoon character.

So yeah, you can see how we look at them in a completely different way. We're probably projecting our own preferences in women onto them to some extent because they are physically attractive. When they don't fit in they are annoying/boring ;)

This week's episode is my favorite one so far. It's awesome, really, and I don't understand the reactions I've seen here.

Good episode, my fav so far this season. Fortunately no Britta-Troy storyline either. Humor still seems a bit forced though, not sure why that is.

This was also my favorite episode this season. I think the people that aren't enjoying anything about this season have completely detached themselves from the show and probably won't like any future episode of Community that comes out.

I know when this show should end. May 23rd, 2013.

Final scene should be at Maurice's Steakhouse.

Anyone that can name why becomes an instant Community nerd.

Winger has a reservation for one at Maurice's for the day he graduates community college and can go back to being a lawyer again.

If this happens, then I will revoke anything bad I've stated about Season 4.

Edit: May 23rd, 2013 is a Thursday 11 weeks from now and there are 7 episodes left. D:
