Comparison pic: PS4 vs 3 cans of beer

The spec sheet states the console comes with an AC cable, and the back of the box has a standard AC connector: The PS4 is pretty much confirmed to not have a power brick.

The back of the box has one of these:

I've never seen one of those on a device without a brick.

American guy I work with went to London on business. He went to a restaurant with a bunch of English, a Welsh dude, and a Scottish dude. The Scot was drinking hard liquor, and the rest of them were drinking straight up Budweiser.

I wish I could have seen that. Don't they serve good beer in London?
Lots of London restaurants have a great beer selection, but the lighter beers (Budweiser, Corona, Becks, Stella) are still very popular so most places serve them. I've been to £100+/head restaurants and seen whole tables of people with light beers (men and women).

Don't really see the problem.

Might have been the far superior Czech Budweiser Budvar brewed beer.

Those beers are made really light tasting so that you can drink them all day every day and not get sick of them. They just taste consistently okay and bland, and hence are the default choice.

Even for lighter tasting beers that can be drunk in high volume though there are definitely better choices.

that's the connection on the tail end of the brick. the fact that it's in the PS4 console itself (instead of some other custom DC port) means that the power supply is inside.

A bunch of English, Welshman & Scotsman you say... You sure he was in London (though I admit the chav crowd drink awful alcohol, including cheap Tesco's beer)

that might be possible, the PS4 unit doesnt have a on/off flip-switch. a power brick would be annoying

As others have already noted, that's the AC connector that is typically on the power brick - this connector being part of the PS4 pretty much confirms an internal power adapter.

Blue Moon is Coors. Millercoors got into trouble by dropping the Coors label off of the beer in the 2000s because they didn't want people to know it was made by them.

Who gives a shit what billion dollar company owns what beer brand? It's not like blue moon is on the same level as keystone just because they are both owned by coors.

Wow! That thing is small, how did they get a hold of it?

Nvm, I see Boyes must have brought it along with him.

Are you crazy?

Never owned any of those devices.

what the hell... I would've never been able to do that with my Launch Phat. That thing must be light, or Evilore is strong as shit.
Some retailers are listing 2.8kg as the weight of the system, though I'm not sure what the source is. I can't trace it back to tech spec pages on sony.com, which are already up, in any case.

Man, every time I see size comparisons to older consoles and various objects I'm amazed at how small it is. It makes me a moment to remember that the PS4 is using components commonly found in very slim mobile devices, and that comes with the low TDP and cooling requirements of those products.

I wouldn't be surprised if the innards have a giant fan + heatpipe setup.

definitely looking forward to the teardown. I don't think there'll be too many heatpipes but since they're using an APU, I'm guessing they'll be able to just use one fan, saving on space.

Yeah, the day we get a teardown for the console will be fun. We'll be able to see what kind of setup they have in there, figure out the cooling configuration (some people think it has a blower), look at the GDDR5 DIMMs, comparing it to other consoles, etc...

Someone in another PS4 hardware thread said the mobo might be mounted upside down, which would be strange.

The PS4 segment on GiantBomb yesterday boosted my appreciation for the console's design.
