Completist or Completionist?

Okay, this is going to possibly be the dumbest thread I ever make, but... do you guys say completionist or completist? I say the former and so does everyone else I know, but I've been watching through the Radio Free Nintendo podcast archive, and they KEEP saying completist. So, what's the general opinion like on this trivial matter?

Completionist. "Completist" sounds like a term someone made up on the spot.
It also sounds kind of like "elitist", which raises a few questions.

Completist is wrong, but it rhymes with elitist, so I say we go with it.

EDIT: God damn you, A Dead Diehard. >=|

Depends on the game. If it's stuff like resident evil or star fox where completion is more tangible and encouraged than other games, completionist. Stuff like the witcher 3? Completist.

I think of them as different things. I have been a completionist for certain games, getting the 100% stuff because it was fun or amusing.

Other times, I'll do icky what is exactly necessary to see all of the story content, which I consider completist, I'm trying to just get to the core material all done.

Though this is purely in my own head and kind of a silly contextual difference.

Completionist. Never heard of completist before. Thinking about it for a moment, completionist makes better sense to me - they are someone who plays a game to completion as opposed to someone who plays a game to complete.

Then again, I guess a completionist can be someone looking to 100% a game and a completist is someone who simply wishes to beat the game. I guess in that way, I would be a completist as I do try beat any game I'm playing, but I almost never try for achievements or 100%.

Completist sounds like a term for someone who just tries to finish games (like the base campaign), while completionist would indicate someone who wants to finish everything there is to do.

Either is fine.

Completist actually predates completionist by about 20 years, and is more frequently cited by dictionaries. But they're both generally accepted as correct.

Completist literally isn't even a word, so I have no idea why anyone would use it. In fact this thread is the first time I've ever even seen it.

Thought this was gonna be a thread on people who just complete the game (the main story) against people who do everything (side quests etc)

It's completionist tho

I thought this was going to be a question about 2 different defined terms and I already had my answer of I'd classify myself as a "almost maybe got halfway through this but then quit"ist

I don't finish games on purpose

completionist though. completist feels wrong
