Good, the joke wasn't even funny the first time. Working retail and hearing the same fucking jokes from customers gets really grating.

I'm sure many of you have heard this

Me: *Rings up item, it isn't in the system*
Customer: "I guess it's free!"
Me: ugh...

I would have said try shoving it my face and see what happens fucker. Something tells me corporate would not like that response...

I bought the damn cone, you cant tell me how to eat it.

Oh come on, that's not bad. I use the SAME jokes on people all the time.

Them: "Wow, it's only $29.99?"
Me: "I can charge you more if you want!"
Them: "Oh no no! Hahaha."
Me: "Just asking!"

Derp.

How the fuck do you survive in retail if a "joke" like that bothers you.

Why not relax and respond with something witty yourself, and make the day better for both of you.

it may be mcdonald's, and mcdonald's may have shitty food, but this is that guy's job, and his entire professional world. Having people come in daily to shit on him in countless ways and here in this case disrespect his product must push him to the edge at some point.

I'm sure that sounds ridiculous to most, but really, everyone who works for a living deserves a minimum amount of respect, and stupidity like this is completely demeaning to some, while seemingly harmless to everyone else.

I didn't survive it.

WHo the fuck in their right mind is calling the manager a douche? Fuck that shit, if I see a camera in your car filming and see you reach for the ice cream instead of the cone, I'm gonna be like "What the fuck?" And if I know what cone-ing is I would do exactly what he did.

It's not even close to funny, not that I think it's a serious offense, it's just that as a joke or prank, it's not funny. More like waste of time.

Its only a waste of time if you make a big deal out it rather than just letting them take the ice cream that they already paid for. OMG I have to throw away this cone now, so much lost productivity...

Lol, I swear I get this joke at least once a day. I just laugh and tell them it doesn't work that way.

Don't see how the manager is a douche. Guy's just trying to make a living at his fast food job, and then these entitled shits come around looking for a laugh. Well, someone's going to have to clean up after them. I bet this guy deals with this routine once a day.

No... this was definitely a waste of time. Girl isn't even that hot. Of course I'm not all that attracted to fake blonde girls.

McDs does car detailing now?

Anyways, I think the best way to do this "coneing" shit, would be to find a McDs like the one in said video, and effectively shut down the drive thru with coners.

Teach the dumbass manager to not make a mountain out of a molehill. Id love to see how they handle that. A lot of customers with ice cream facials and a manager looking for a new job.

McDs in making money, they probably wouldnt consider that a waste, the customers however...

Just *love* the people defending the girl.

Yes you paid for the cone, but that doesn't give you free reign to disrespect the employees. And yes, you're disrespecting them.

1. You're making a mess on the counter/drive thru.
2. You're filming them at their work to post on youtube for people to laugh at (without their permission mind you)
3. You're taking up their time when they could be serving people wanting to actually eat their food.

If you wanna manhandle your icecream that's fine, just drive away and do it in your own fucking car. Dipshits.

You think that ice cream doesn't get on the drive-thru window when some idiot decides to grab it with his hand? And I sincerely hope you never work a retail job in your life.

I don't see why the manager would have been pissed off, the ice cream was already paid for and what they do with it is not his business.

He ain't working at no Michelin starred restaurant its just fucking McDonalds so I find it hard to believe maybe he takes "pride" in the food, enough that he is willing to throw away food that a customer has paid for.

Now I'm not for coning, I think its dumb but hes no more the good guy here than the people in the car. What a dick.

His anger probably stems from having to deal with these "pranks" on a regular basis. And who cares that he works for McDonald's? He still deserves to be treated with respect, same as all fast food employees. It's shitty, low-paying and thankless work, and having to deal with these kinds of assholes is just one more hassle.

Anyone feeling like this is going to be a retread of that "5 minutes before closing" topic?

This. People don't realize that the things they do make it harder for other people.

"HAHAHA let's take this ball and throw it around the store knocking stuff over and then ride skateboards everywhere."
Kids get in trouble with worker
"We're just having fun, gawwhhhh [say mean things about the worker and leave]
Worker cleans up mess

It's the same thing in fast food places except different circumstances I'm sure

I didnt know you had to be respectful to eat at mcdonalds, I must have been eating at a different establishment all this time...

1. Not really, considering they usually hand the items to you, you dont reach in the drivethru window to grab your food.

2. Welcome to 2011

3. Again, if we want efficient service, letting her just grab the stupid icecream and chucking the cone takes all of 2 seconds, standing there threatening the customer about something that you would in all likelihood lose your job over is pretty stupid, and anything but efficient.

Ultimately the chick straight up bitched out to weak threat that would never have happened.

The majority of the mess will be in the customers hands/car and in the drivethru, yeah the poor employee might actually have to wash their hands and wipe up a few drops of vanilla, boohoo, Im sure its the least of their worries as far as clean ups go.

You have to be respectful because he's a human being, you jackass.

Have you worked in retail or fast food? The problem isn't that things like this happen once in a while, the problem is stupid shit like this happens everyday

I would say they are disrespecting the food rather the manager and I've worked at McDonalds you just hand people their food and be done with it. It's not as if these kids were mocking the manager or making fun in a cruel way or with the intent to.

I don't see how its a hassle to deal with numerous people who are coning since it requires no extra effort on their workday to deal with them since, once again they are simply handing food to them.

The fact that he threatens to shove ice cream into her face is also a bit extreme.

Ferrio said:

Whats more disrespectful, doing what you want with food you own, or threatening to shove said cone in said customers face, regardless of circumstance.

Yes Ive worked in retail, and at least shit like this is a bit of a change up from the same old boring shit day in and day out.

So it's OK in your book to treat people who work at McDonald's disrespectfully? If that's how you sincerely feel fine, and I applaud you for being honest about it.

The majority of the mess will be in the customers hands/car and in the drivethru, yeah the poor employee might actually have to wash their hands and wipe up a few drops of vanilla, boohoo, Im sure its the least of their worries as far as clean ups go.

It's extra work that would not have to be done if not for some jackass. I don't know about you, but I don't like having to do extra work just so some random person can take the piss.

I'm on the manager's side here. Sure she's hot and she already paid for the cone but it's time people stand up against shit 'pranks' like these. Coneing was never funny.

edit: lol joates sounds like he does this shit a lot. move on to the next fad dude, this one's dying down.

Ferrio said:

Gosh, why do you think that if you work for minimum wage you're entitled to personal respect and basic human dignity? What's with you?

Even if you don't make a big deal out of it. People drive by, and do something completely unnecessary. What you want to do on your own time (in other words, after you take the cone and drive off) is your business. If I were in the cashier position... Pulling up and "cone-ing" is a waste of my time because it is completely unnecessary.

And again, not funny.

Again, threatening to shove a cone in someones face was by far the most disrespectful part of the video, or do you think two wrongs make a right?

If you get bent out of shape over the "extra work" wiping off a counter that likely hasnt been cleaned all day and takes all of two seconds, then I doubt you do your job that well to begin with.

You continue to miss the point. Just because he works at McDonald's it doesn't mean he has to eat whatever shit the "customer" throws his way. That's in no fucking way, shape or form disrespect. That's not being a bitch and allowing foolishness to happen at your expense.

I can understand if this is happening several times a week that management would get very annoyed. If a customer is purposely making a mess then it can be considered criminal mischief. If there's a cop in there enjoying a spit burger they can start ticketing these idiots.

Joates said:

Cleaning messes up isn't fun at all. Sure, maybe irate customers can be funny sometimes but I would rather the same boring stuff than to clean up shit.

/shrug Not exactly surprising. This kinda thing was bound to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if some folks give an even harsher response to that nonsense.

I wonder what Corporate would say about shoving cones in coners face. Im sure they would view that as the most respectful thing to do.

Unfortunately, when you work at mcds, its your job to satisfy the customer because its a fucking service.

Basically what youre saying is, if you feel disrespected, its only appropriate to to lower yourself to their level, sounds like a very respectable way to carry yourself, albeit a tad hypocritical.

It might be a "change up" at first but when it becomes a regular phenomenon I bet you wouldn't be happy to deal with it then.

Again, threatening to shove a cone in someones face was by far the most disrespectful part of the video, or do you think two wrongs make a right?

I never said I agreed with the manager's threat. I understand his attitude because he probably deals with this stuff constantly, but I don't condone what he said.

If you get bent out of shape over the "extra work" wiping off a counter that likely hasnt been cleaned all day and takes all of two seconds, then I doubt you do your job that well to begin with.

It's not about the extra work in and of itself, just this attitude that you have the right to come by a place of business and act like it's your own personal space to do whatever you want. These kinds of stunts only inconvenience the people there working to make a living.

...still missing the point, with a side of false pretenses! Guess what? Nobody actually got a cone shoved anywhere! At all! So stop saying that!

And you're being twice as ridiculous with they "it's your job to satisfy the customer" shit. No, it's fucking not your job to allow the "customer" to do whatever the fuck they want. How absurd.

I don't understand why people at these drive thru's get so angry when people do this? The people doing it get their own hands dirty. They act like they're the ones with ice cream left on their hands or something. I've seen lots of videos of teller's getting legitimately annoyed though I don't see why they should.

Speaking of false pretenses, did a "cone-ing" occur here?

If I recall correctly, he threatened it as she was reaching for the cone. So he may not have shoved the cone in her face but he did threaten to do it...

She never threatened to do anything, she merely tried to take the food from him in a manner that he did not approve of.

Oh so youre saying the customer cant do whatever they want with the food they purchased as long as its not harming anyone?

If as a manager, I see someone sitting at a booth stuffing their face full of fries and dropping some on the floor(you know making one of those messes that I just cant fucking stand as a mcds employee) , can I tell them to eat more civilized or Ill shove the fries right down your throat?
