confessions of a so-called gamer

Never owned a console before the PS2, unless you count a Gameboy Color and Advanced. And yeא to own any other console. This also means I never played many of what is considered classics.

I don't like fighting games with the exception of Smash bros. and Soul Calibur, and I'm totally button bashing in Soul Calibur.

That'll do for now.

I think RE4 is perhaps the worst game I've ever played. If it wasn't for the enthusiastic people online I would never have finished the first three levels. Stopped there.

1. Gears of War sucks balls
2. Given the choice, i would much rather be an ignorant casual rather than a bitchy enthusiast.

Oh yeah, the only N64 game I ever beat was Sin and Punishment and that was because of the Virtual Console. I also never beat any Sega Saturn game when I owned one too.

-i think FFVIII is the greatest FF game, not only because the gameplay is awesome, but mostly because the story is so motherfucking perfect, baby.

-i always thought FFVII was the most overrated game ever (still good)

-i have been a huge street fighter fan (the series) and have played it for years, even got pretty good at it, but i have just recently (in the last month or so) learned how to properly perform a shoryuken.

-in my younger days, if a game had anime character designs i would play it, no matter how bad it was

don't know what more to say, not a very interesting list :(

Thanks to GAF i can fake having knowledge on a ton of games i've never played

I finish maybe half of the games i buy. (and some i play for maybe an hour or 2)
this sounds similar to something I would have said.

I think Final Fantasy Tactics is the best FF game

I totally agree with this. Not the SRPG part, so I took that out, but it IS the best Final Fantasy to me.

Confession: I've beaten every single mainstream Mario platformer with the exception of the original Super Mario Bros. Why? I don't know.

I don't beat most games. The last game I beat was RnC TOD on easy:D

I play games on easy. Boys just want to have fun.

The only FPS i like is Halo.

I didn't like Mario64

I never owned the original PS.

I only play games about one hour a week. Am I the casual? :(

I bought every Castlevania released on GBA and loved every minute of it. I'm part of the problem:D

River City Ransom is my 2nd favorite game of all time and I have never beaten it before.

That's kind of strange. You can run through the entire game in a matter of minutes and finish off Slick pretty easily, if you'd like to just get this weight off your conscience.

You're entitled to your opinion.

I always say "I love Ocarina of Time" and everytime I want to play it (have beaten it couple of times back in the day) I think "Oh my god, I really don't want to play this game".

Still love it. It's just not the same experience anymore... :(

I've owned and completed Shaq Fu for the Genesis. Multiple Times.

This and...

I can't stand any mario games that aren't 2D.

I'm the only person on GAF who played Dark Reign 2, the greatest RTS ever.

I think screen tearing is a myth that people use when they can't find anything else to complain about in a game.

FPS drops in console games don't bother me, and they shouldn't bother you either. Play PC games on a low end machine you whiners.

I hate stealth games with a passion or any game that has stealth in it. It took me forever to complete the warehouse level in Shenmue because I just couldn't deal with it.

I don't like Nintendo first party games. I don't hate the company, but I can't find myself engrossed in the gameplay or story. I've attempted games like Metroid Prime, Ocarina of Time, and Animal Crossing, but I've never finished any.

i never played contra without the code

i let people win sometimes

im dying to play wii fit

i used to pretend my sega was better than the nes but i didnt really feel that way

i never read manuals

my cousin and i are probably the reason you cant return games if they are open

i actually play games on my mobile phone (not an iphone)

i will sell a game at a huge loss if i dont like it.

I find it really hard to get into a new game sometimes, unless I'm super interested in it. Once I'm in it's all good, but just the intro to the story and such sometimes gets to me.

I hate Sackboy but I LOVE your avatar.

Same here.

My first Metroid was Fusion
First Kirby was Nightmare in Dreamland (GBA remake of Kirby's Adventure)
First Mega Man was X on the Mega Man X collection (except 30 mins of the first Zero on GBA played on an emulator)
First Contra was Contra 4
First Castlevania was Harmony Of Dissonance

I honestly don't know if I've ever done a full play through of Zelda III. I know I've started many a games in my past. I also know I've beaten Gannon many times. For some reason I can't remember if it was on my own play through, or from sampling some one else's save files...

I must rectify this.

I met two Bungie guys and still haven't purchased a 360, but own the Legendary edition. I met Corey Barlog, and still haven't purchased GoW2. I have a 5:4 backlog ratio on games I actually own. I think Oblivion is the worst game ever. I've used a strategy guide for almost every FF game I've played. I also think FF7 is an overrated mixed bag with a shitty endgame, enjoyed FF8 thoroughly, and thinks FFX-2 is severely underappreciated.

I have never completed a Zelda, Metroid, or Kirby game. I have never played a Zelda, Metroid or Kirby game in excess of a total hour's worth of play.

I have completed only two Mario platformers - SMB and NSMB.

I have never owned a Nintendo home console.

I sometimes press the game controller against my genitals when it rumbles.

Haha, I did that the first time I played Star Fox 64, since it came bundled with the rumble pak. Then my cousin did it, too, and I was "WTF man, I use that controller."

Mmm...

I also like Animal Crossing. Never really got into Wild World, though.
I never finished Super Metroid. I did finish and enjoyed Prime and Zero, though.
I don't like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or DDR.
I used to buy games if I liked the artstyle or cover, even. Therefore, I've bought a lot of mediocre Atlus & NIS games. Chalk it up to illogical loyalty to niche companies.
I used to rush out to buy games on their release dates, but usually never actually play them until weeks or months later.
I like collecting strategy guides, especially Double Jump and Zelda guides. I don't always use them, though. I like looking at them from time to time to remember stuff from games I liked. Sometimes I even get guides for games I've never played/finished, i.e. KH2, NIS games, and FFXII.
I buy a lot of RPGs, even though I've only finished like two in the past 4 years.
I bought WiiFit and got bored of it after two weeks.
I need to stop wasting so much money.

Killer 7 is one of my favorite games from the last generation.

-I've never owned a Nintendo and I'm 26. By extension I've never played any: Metroid, Kirby, Castlevania or Smash Bros. and I've only played a handfull of Mario games at friends houses. I was a SEGA kid :/

-I don't regret this one bit :D

I've never owned an original Playstation. Largely due to lack of funds during elementary and middle school, and because of my inability to afford it I became a huge nintendo/sega fanboy. Thankfully I wasn't able to resist the PS2 when it came out, and played most of the PSX's big hits at friends' houses.

I've never played through FFVII entirely. I've done the first and third disc. Somehow I've never done the 2nd disc of the game. I would start a game, my friend would take his PSX home and continue without me. And then I would only get to see the ending.

I buy every Gran Turismo even though I have played each (after the first) for about 1-5 hours total. I buy them out of nostalgia since as a middle schooler the first Gran Turismo was an amazing experience to me since I used to be obsessed with cars.

I buy every Soul Calibur even though I have yet to play one since the dreamcast version. My brother and friends are the ones that put time in 2/3/4. On 4 I went through arcade mode once and unlocked the apprentice and never played again. That took 8-9 minutes.

Even though I love arcade style racers I never have the time to put into them. Yet I buy them anyways since I enjoy the few minutes here and their that I spend with them. When I was young and poor I used to master them since I could only afford 2-4 games a year.

I absolutely hated Burnout Paradise. Could not stand it. Burnout 3 remains my favorite in the series. I own all but the first one.

The only Castlevania I have ever played was the 3D N64 game.

I never played a Zelda before OoT.

Despite owning a Gamecube and loving Miyamoto's games I never bought, or even played the Pikmin games.

I still think MGS2 has one of, if not the best story in a videogame ever.

I didn't play Contra 3 until about 6 months ago.

And the big one...

I didn't think Super Mario Galaxy was that much better than Super Mario Sunshine.

You are living in denial.

i suck at racing sims

i used walkthroughs for earthbound, 2 pokemon games, and both pikmins

i rarely remember character/ place names

for some games, i will buy it if everyone else has it

if i dont like a game within 30 minutes, i think it sucks

i'm a sucker for unusual graphics (viewtiful joe, lbp, loco roco, etc), even if the game sucks i will finish it

i suck at playing fps's against people online. you fuckers move too fast

i like animal crossing
Just for reference, this is the original post.

I have no idea how some of you interpreted this as being the weekly "shit on a game or genre you don't like" thread.

I never owned a nintendo sys till the GC. And that I bought just before the wii came out. And I bought it to play Animal Crossing and Ribbit King.

And im only avg at most games at best.

I like RPGs and own a PS3.

I miss OFFLINE multiplayer......

- I never get around to beating one third of every game I own.

- I get bored of a game, sell it, regret it later down the line, buy it again, and repeat the cycle.

- I never play games for over 1 and a half hours (though this isn't really a bad thing)

- I probably watch more youtube playthoughs than I actually play games nowadays. =(

- I'm as cheaparse as they get. Anything over ÂŁ20 and I'm dubious.

- God of War I is better than God of War II.
- Halo Combat Evolved is the best first-person shooter ever created.
- I just bought a Wii.

I'm the one person on the planet that doesn't give a shit about Rock Band. I feel like ripping my ears off when I hear my favorite podcasts waste a fucking hour talking about a damn song pack every week. End of rant. :D
