Confirmed : Just Cause 3 to support DX12

The game runs pretty abysmally on my 2GB 670; not that I expect anything spectacular, but I'm talking thirty-ish FPS with literally every setting as low as it'll go, and that's after the big patch.

I don't have much hope for a DX12 patch helping me now, but it'll be good when I go back to the game after buying one of the new Nvidia cards this year.

Wingsuit shenanigans were already great-can't wait to return for this-

You had no issues OP? I had several with a 980ti and 6700k :/

But that was closer to launch...

The game ran like absolute crap for me, mainly because of the glaringly obvious memory leak. But let's see if it gets fixed when DX12 support hits.

I'm not sure how you could expect any better with 2gb of VRAM. This game needs more no matter the settings.

I think this is going to be a huge boost for those with low end CPUs. But we also know the game will make use of Maxwell and Iris features.
This session will cover the changes Avalanche made to their engine to match DX12Â’s pipeline, the implementation process and best practices from DX12. WeÂ’ll also showcase and discuss the PC exclusive features enabled thanks to DX12 such as Ordered Independent Transparency, and G-buffer blending using Raster Ordered Views and light assignment for clustered shading using Conservative Rasterization.

cool beans, this and the eventual multiplayer mod should expand the lifespan of this game

runs pretty well right now but there is definitley some slowdown when shit hits the fan and everything is exploding

Hopefully this will fix the issues I've had with the game, it's been fluctuating from a locked 30fps to a locked 60fps every 15 seconds or so regardless of graphical settings. Without V Sync its been running at 80+fps but rampant screen tearing gets annoying.

Are there any DX12 games out now that perform better than their DX11 counterparts?

That's from a fake vide iirc, but ir caused a lot of uproar from animal rights defenders.

Not yet? Maybe Ashes of the Singularity, if someone has benchmarks..

Those look like a heck of a lot of Maxwell/ Iris features. I wonder if it will leverage Async Compute as well.

Ashes of the Singularity in Early Access runs better in DX12 on AMD, and better on NV if you have an AMD proc / were CPU-limited under DX11.

Like I said, I wasn't expecting miracles, but JC3 really isn't a particularly well-optimised game. You only have to look at how bad the performance is on consoles. It's galling to realise that the five-year-old Just Cause 2 actually looks nicer than 3 does on my system; JC2 maxed out at 60 is much more of a looker than JC3 on rock-bottom settings with a shaky framerate to boot. Before the first patch the game literally ran worse than Arkham Knight ever did for me, and it was only weeks later that I got anywhere near playable performance on a system that does at least squeak in over the minimum spec.

I'm not so sure that this trailer actually confirms anything.

I mean they are using color saturation to illustrate the difference between 11 and 12 in DXMD. The rest of that video can be of the same truthfulness.

Ran fine for me, though perhaps it's because I have 16 GB RAM? I dunno. Either way, I'm excited.

The game peaked out on 13GB RAM usage for me during my tests. So yeah, 16 is the minimum I'd approach it with.

It comes from the Microsoft official Youtube channel. They would not put Just Cause 3 in here is there was no plan for DX12 support.
The Deus Ex sequence is extremely questionable but that's besides the point.

The point is the actual DX12 support for Just Cause 3. There are GDC presentations hosted by Intel also but I would expect the DX12 special features to be available for Nvidia Maxwell.

Huh, wasn't aware it ran so badly. I was gonna pull the trigger on this recently, it was half off @ ÂŁ19.

Glad I waited.

We knew for some time that Avalanche is working on a D3D12 renderer. The question of will they actually release it to the public remains open however. There are reasons why we don't see much D3D12 games around right now and if you look at GoWUE's issues you may guess what these reasons are.

This nvidia / dx12 thing is going to be a fiasco.

It crashed on my 980Ti more than I consider playable and it doesn't sound like they brought the PS4 version up to an acceptable state. I hope this means at least one version will eventually be playable.
