Conker BFD, SC: Chaos Theory, Xenoblade. Games that completely outclass system?

Conker was impressive cos it had the best graphics on the system AND was fully voiced. How the hell did they achieve this...

Late gen ps2 rpgs do a pretty good job of blowing everything else on the system out of the water. Valkryie Profile 2 being the biggest example, followed by Xenosaga 3 and Final Fantasy 12.

Surprised no one has said GTAV. Some of the pictures in the photo thread are mind-blowing.

It's probably the biggest technical achievement in gaming so far in my opinion.

Xenoblade's scale is impressive but otherwise it is basically Dreamcast-level. I think both Galaxy games and Prime 3 stand out more, among the best looking games on the system and run at 60 FPS.

Shin'en games are also pretty impressive, and not just the WiiWare ones.

I was astonished by what Rare achieved on N64 with Conker. It is a technical marvel. Everything about that game is just perfect.

Time for another mention of F-Zero GX, I see.

And in BLAZING 60 fps at 480P I might add!! God, that game was buttery brilliance.

My other "blew me always" were rogue squadron 2 and 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and yea, Xenoblade.

Yup Xenoblade was a miracle. Most ambitious game from last gen when considering the hardware it was on.

Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 was also incredibly ambitious.

That wasn't anywhere close to the best looking game on the gamecube.

Everything except the frame rate.

Edit: I like people's suggestion for SotC. It was a bit choppy but it still held up and was an amazing experience. The bloom that first time in the temple looked great.

I still can't believe what Beyond: Two Souls was able to squeeze out of the PS3. The Last of Us gets an honorable mention.

Never understood why the God of War series gets so much credit, I'm not too impressed.

Also, I'll nominate the Jak & Daxter series on the PS2. If you've seen the behind-the-scenes videos they made during the PS3 remaster, it was really impressive what they had to do in order to get that game working like it did.

I don't have any screenshots on hand, but am I the only one who thought that The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 looked drop-dead gorgeous?

The Rogue Squadron games on GameCube. Rogue Squadron 2 was developed in 9 months and outclassed everything else at launch.

Hell, it was the best looking game on the system imo up until Rogue Squadron 3 came out. And not only did RS3 look insane, it also included all of Rogue Squadron 2 in splitscreen with IMPROVED visuals.

Oh, right, and Factor 5 only had 27 employees when they were developing RS2.

Those dudes were pretty amazing with what they could pull off on the Cube.

The best thing is:
They programmed shaders on a console with no programmable shaders. And some of them were those kind of shaders you wouldn't see for another 4 years when the 360 launched.
Factor 5 was such an awesome developer and it's a damn shame they didn't survive the last generation.
