Conker is BACK: Young Conker reveal video

Name something of quality Rare has released that wasn't the rehashed Rare Collection in the last 5 years. Oh wait you can't. Either let them develop the games that made the company great or shut it down. No reason to keep it open to release garbage.
Look... I'm not going to say that their output since 2008 have been great, but they are currently working on their first non-kinect game since N&B and TiP.

Sea of Thieves? Maybe you've heard of it. It's Gregg Mayles' dream game.

Take a look at how long this thread is so far. It's only going to get bigger.

I get what you're saying but I don't think that a presumed following on NeoGAF is enough to justify allocating millions of dollars for a new a Conker and I would also question the assumption that "posts on NeoGAF" = will buy game.

What's a Greg Mayles? No talent left at Rare. Shut the company down and put them out of their misery etc etc

All while their great franchises go to waste.

Devs like to move on.

Bungie wanted to move on from Halo. Insomniac moved on after Spyro. Naughty Dog is moving on after Uncharted 4, just like they moved on after Crash and Jak & Daxter.

Fuck, the amount of down thumbs of youtube.

Rare dudes must feel like shit.

Rare didn't make this. A studio called Asobo Studio did.

Don't get me wrong, this is a mistake and you shouldn't treat your fans and characters like this. Nobody wins here.

Is Seavor still voicing Conker? I hope not.

He did.

A better video of the potential of the game:

Some cool stuff but not convinced yet.

It feels like impressive tech, but it ultimately looks like a gimmick that'd get old after a while. It still just reminds me of the 3DS AR stuff, which aren't as good tech-wise, but pretty much give you the same experience. A bit like the Wii Remote compared to the PS Move and Kinect, in retrospect. Maybe I'm just being cynical, though

Stick to Nintendo if you want yearly rehashes of the same IP.

You mean by Nintendo, the one company that actually does "rehashes" correctly, as opposed to Ubisoft and their shitting out of the Assassins' Creed games and Acti with their Call of Duty games?

Your post reminded me of this blog post from Penny Arcade's Tycho

Hah, I thought as much. Someone must be getting very angry over there yelling "Why does this KEEP happening" after things like smartphones, tablets, and now VR. The Xbox One getting pantsed after they thought they had that market on lockdown really upped the fury stakes even further.

Hololens also seems like its gone through a bit of a computational downgrade as well. In the fake-o-demos of yesteryear shit was smooth as, but now we're seeing these demos chunk and stutter on really quite terrible graphics and stuff. Like with that pink alien demo, it runs very differently to the other ones causing you to wonder which demos are real and faked.

"We have to keep pretending this product is ready and real! WE JUST HAVE TO."

I don't feel my first post was emphatic enough, so I'll say it again: god fucking dammit Microsoft.

EDIT: Oh my god, I couldn't hear the audio when I was watching the video earlier. "Conker's a much beloved property that has a huge following... SO WE PUT HIM IN THIS!!" Are they really this dense?

True. I think we're talking more about traditional 3D platformers here though. Ori is part of the Metroidvania-ish wave we've witnessed over the last few years and a bit different I'd say.

Have we forgotten that Yooka-Laylee made almost 3 million dollars solely through crowdfunding? There's a market out there.

1 game per console=yearly rehashes

Before you say Mario Party by the way, i implore you to actually play the entire franchise because each game believe it or not introduced new gimmicks.

Who's pretending? MS have been very honest about the fact this thing is years away from consumer release.

Rare fans are Sonic fans now.

Nah, it's really weird to be a Rare fan.

It's like we're dealt good hands and bad hands at a 50/50 balance.

Recently we've had Rare being freed from Kinect and Gregg Mayles leading Rare to create a Pirate Adventure Game, Rare Replay was released with a gold mine of Rare content and Rash was in Killer Instinct.

That's the recent good.

Then we balance it out with Banjo Kinect and this fucking bullshit god damn I'm so pissy holy shit.

Would that same scale of a game be "good enough" for Conker fans? Honest question. I don't really know what they want.
