Console Controllers on PC Preference Thread

I like the Wii U pro controller the mos nowadays. With the mayflash USB-dongle it basically becomes a wireless 360 controller with a great d-pad. The only thing that is a bit confusing is how the buttons are placed different.

I love how convenient and easy it is to use the 360 controller of course, but the DS3 was my preferred controller until I got the Wii U pro. DS3 is a lot more complicated to set up, and you need to have software running in the background to use it, which is a bit of an annoyance.

Wii U Pro Controller is nice.

From time to time I get confused because A/B and Y/X are switched compared to standard 360 controller. Nevertheless it's just as OP said. USB-chargable, lightweight and it feels great. I haven't used DS4 or XB1 controller so they might be better.

Ordered a Mayflash adapter for my Wii U pro controller. Will test it out. Also have a third party X360 controller which I currently use. I mighy get a Xbone controller in the future depending on circumstances.

So did I after I read this thread. I like the Wii Pro Controller. My only concern is that as I understand it takes the button mapping litterally and on the Pro Controller X and Y and A and B are swapped with each other. I suppose I could either A.) get used to it or B.) change the buttons in the games' configurations, but I could see it becoming a frustration.

Also, that dongle is UGLY. That's a minor problem though as you can just tuck it away.

I bought the XboxOne controller for my PC because I hated the d-pad on the 360 wired. I had one of the older controllers where the d-pad just flat-out didn't work right.

Yeah, the XBO controller definitely has a nicer d-pad, but honestly, I don't think the X360 one is that terrible. I guess I'm crazy. Granted, it's far from perfect, it could be better, but luckily it doesn't annoy me as much as it annoys others.

But I'm definitely switching to the XBO controller whenever my current X360 one stops working. Apparently there's no wired version, but I've read any brand of micro USB cable should do the trick, right? Even, just as an example, a Samsung charger?

This is my current, switched over from a wired 360 pad, i love the triggers on this thing as they really have a nice tightness to them..

Found mine like new and boxed in a clearance section in cash generators for ÂŁ1.50 because - they mistakenly thought it was a 360 pad and it wouldn't connect to a a 360 :D.

I feel compelled to talk about the Buffalo SNES controller. I first heard of it when someone made a thread a few weeks back, and for the ~ÂŁ11 price tag I decided to give it a go.

This thing is great. Solid design, and thanks to what is apparently licensing the design from Nintendo themselves, this is so comfy. Feel great to use. And it's plug and play. I'd still like a Saturn controller, but this is fantastic.

I mostly use the DS3. I like everything about it except for the triggers.

Greatly prefer the analog stick position, shape and resistance on it to 360-style pads and even the DS4.

That's a really lucky find.

That's the reason I haven't bought one. Such a stupid decision. Let's go with the marking on the controller over a decade of muscle memory :/

A wired 360 pad is zero effort plug and play and all games have the matching button prompts. Hard to not go with it. I'd love for the PS pads to have similar support but they just dont.

Mine just came in today and I tried it out a few minutes ago. Yeah the muscle memory factor is much more of an issue than I anticipated. I was also surprised how many controller-based games don't let you adjust the buttons. It's a shame because otherwise the controller is awesome and installation is 100% hassle free (Windows just sees it as an Xbox 360 Controller).

I'm a wired 360 controller guy through and through, but I play on picking up a Xbox 1 controller soon to replace my 360, there's nothing wrong with it but I just want something new that's in the same vein as the 360 controller, I've also used the DS3/4 a bit and never really liked either compared to the 360 controller, the triggers aren't great on either IMO and I'm just not a huge fan of the stick layout.

Wireless X box 360 controller with transforming dpad works great for every thing except fighting games and 2d platformers.

Yeah you can use any micro USB. However, Microsoft is selling/going to be selling a version labeled with "for PC" which is literally the same thing as the normal Xbox One but with a 9 foot micro USB at the same $60 price.
So, I plan on getting that cause of the extra cable lol

wireless 360 here. anyone know if the x1 controller can use the same wireless receiver as the 360 controller?

Im pretty sure it wont work unless Microsoft makes some magical software update for it, as the xbox one controller uses Wifi Direct
