Controllers |OT| It's the Hall-Effect Life!

Boys. Lads. Gents. Fellas. Ladies.

I've been ignoring the discomfort from using the SC, but I just decided mid-game to switch back to my trust Ultimate 2 and it went away immediately. I think a lot of it is the stick positioning. My thumbs in particular have been suffering.

I don't know what to do. I could try out some mkb games and seen if the touchpads are worth keeping it, but I probably know the answer already.

I have smaller hands so I'm worried about it, lmao.

BeardSpike BeardSpike Just saw this on 8Bitdo's insta story.. Preorders for the Ultimate 3E are starting in May 26th.

Edit: There's also a Lavender version on their website:
WOAH! Cheaper than I thought. I might have to return this Gamesir

The bumper button placement is murdering my wrists...I had to move them to the back buttons.

Got my SC today and I'm very impressed.

the controller is much more rounded than I thought it would be and fits perfectly in the hand.

Really love the haptics and touch pads adds so much choice. Also messed about with grip sense for starfield and yeah it's awesome also love the haptics it gives you.

Surprised how small it is and also how nice the sticks feel.

Biggest gripe is a small one , the triggers are a little shallow but i can deal with it.

I think maybe wait for some aftermarket silicone grips, I know my wife's ROG Ally X feels far more comfortable to hold with the Skull n Co Gripcase on.

Just make sure that the features you need are in. 8Bitdo are kinda notorious for weird restrictions on Bluetooth connectivity etc.

Also look into the Vader 5 v2, which supposedly solved a lot of the early QC and design issues.

One more controller to look into is the Beitong Kunpeng KP40D, that one looks quite special.

This evening's realisation has made me realise how much I appreciate the 8bitdo R4 placement. If this thing was just a little bit bigger and more angled (maybe when more direct upgrade U3 comes without rubber grips) it might be spot on for me.

The bumper button placement is murdering my wrists...I had to move them to the back buttons.
I noticed this too. Picking it up my fingers naturally rest on R2, R4, R5. Going up to R1 is not natural so the ergonomics aren't great there and must be the source of some of my discomfort. Remapping to move off of a standard, every game button just feels wrong to me, especially when the reason I wanted it was additional function.

I honestly don't know how it will be tbh. Many think it's comfy, so hopefully it will be for you, too.

The SC Reddit mentions cases already appearing on US Amazon and AliExpress, but I can't even find it to share with this thread. I saw comments saying it made the difference for them but I'm really having doubts now because of the above ergonomics issues. I thought that a few days of use might settle it down but now I'm wondering if it's more likely to cause long term issues than get better.

Ordered a WASD mod for my F700 stick today as well as a Split Pad Compact for my Switch OLED. The WASD mod is a summertime project but I wanted the SPC so I can play fighting games in handheld during my travels. Looking forward to trying both of them.

The Spolit Pad compact is the Hori one right?

You mention playing fighting games so just making sure I am not missing out on a fighting game stick made for travel :)

ugh so looks like the g7 pro 8k isnt compatible with switch 2. I tried bluetooth, tried the dongle and even wired. 2 times it said "paired" in the top left corner but the controller not worked :(

You need to put it in switch mode (as least the older ones were like this). I think its home button and Y or X. The light will blink a different color when its in switch mode.

**It's home and Y apparently:

Oh weird...I haven't used the 8k personally but the G7 pro does work for me at least:

Switch 1 & 2 Connection Tutorial

1.On the Switch main menu, go to "Controllers"-"Change Grip/Order"
2.Toggle the Mode Switch on the controller to Bluetooth mode
8K-Bluetooth.png
and press the Home buttonto power on.
3.Hold
8k-sw12.png
until the Home light flashes rapidly in red and wait for the connection.
4.A solid Home light indicates a successful connection.
* If the connection fails, hold the Pairing button
re-pair_button.png
on the controller to re-enter pairing mode.

Switch 2 Wake-Up Tutorials

1.Detach both sides of the Joy-Con 2 from the Switch 2.
2.On the Switch 2 main menu, tap the controller icon and select [Change Grip/order] to enterpairing mode.
3.After the controller is successfully connected to the Switch 2, it cannot be operated yet. On[Change Grip/order] screen, tap [search] at the bottom, then tap the icon of any Joy-Con 2.
When the controller vibrates, the wake-up function has been successfully activated.
* This process is only required for the first-time setup.

I don't usually like the lighter colors for gamepads, but this looks nice.

Is it still the same size as the Ultimate 2, or flared out more like their upcoming elite controller they're doing?
Yeah, that's what I'm curious about as well.

They mention it has the new style grip.

Enhanced Grip Comfort

The Ultimate 3 features an all-new mold design, with a wider grip angle
for a more natural and intuitive hold.
Relaxed in hand. Comfortable over time.

This gives me hope that they might do something similar with the Pro series but that line has always seemed liked an afterthought for them compared to the Ultimates.

I am really liking the GameSir - G7 Pro Controller for Xbox Series X|S|One, PC, Android, TMR Sticks, Hall Effect Triggers, 1000Hz Polling Rate,Audio Jack - Shadow Ember right now. It's $80 bucks plus tax of course. However I'm wondering if I should even buy it though. Why? Well, I have over 500 games across PS12345 and only have about 200 games across Xbox and PC. Now I know I can get one of those things to make it work on PS5, but if Sony catches you using one of them they have been known to ban accounts and lose all access to your games and movies you've bought from them and man oh man I don't want that to happen so not gonna buy one of those things to make Xbox controllers work on PlayStation 5. So I really liked the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 controllers. However I'm a rare small guy so the PS5 controller is too big for me and I don't like it. I have 23 Steam games on PS12345. I have 133 Xbox games on PS12345 already as well. Only 2 Steam PC exclusive games don't care for and 22 Xbox exclusive games. Had people say go Xbox or PC more than as I like the Xbox controllers and 3rd party controllers more for it. However I have way way more games for PS12345 and no issues. PC I buy a game on Steam like Resident Evil Requiem, doesn't work, updated Nvidia GPU stuff, updated Windows, updated more drivers, uninstall and reinstall game, still doesn't load work at all. Refunded the game, thanks Steam team. So overall I want that GameSir controller but issues have happened with Windows 11 and issues have happened with Xbox Series X. However I haven't had issues happen with my PS5 Pro at all, not even once. However I hate the PS5 controller. Oh and RE Requiem looks way better on PC according to IGN and others video reviews. What the hell do I do?

Not entirely certain what this means, but posting it here in case someone here knows..

I giess it means you can calibrate your sticks (zero position, max) and write it to the controller (and it won't get patched out) might help with correcting mechanical drift to a new zero position but not sure what else it's good for.

You can use a brooks adapter for PS5...to my knowledge I have not heard of people being banned for that. They even supported their use at various fighting game events that required adapters when the PS5 was the platform used for the tournemants.

If you are referring to custom system firmware then yeah banning is def a thing in that case, but I have not heard of folks using adapters like the one I posted being banned.

Both pages are up. Weight is different:

U3 Lavender 466g
U3E 285.0g

So 3E weights roughly the same as G7 Pro, and lavender one is almost 2x heavier yikes.

I have to wonder if that's a mistake and one includes the dock in the weight
Maybe, or that force adjustable mechanism is just that sophisticated, lmao.

But it still doesn't quite add up, with Dpad and triggers plus bumpers being aluminium, 3E should be heavier but dunno.

I have a lot of their hardware and I har always been impressed by their features and prices (except for their Analogue.co releases from the last few consoles…) but they seems to have really nailed this model.

The price seems outstanding for the quality/features…hope it all comes together for them!

Seriously considering the Lavender Dusk edition as a gift for my wife lol.

My thought is the force adjustment mechanism and the paintjob are what's behind the weight increase.

The battery on the 3E is %40 larger too.

Im tempted. But...I still have my 8bitdo Ultimate NES controller. Apparently they are worth a LOT of money now... :messenger_dizzy: :messenger_dizzy:

Also the 3 version doesn't include any of the extra accessories with the package.
No switch based buttons, additional sticks or dpad options.

....I see the issue.

I thought these were the same controller but one had a color variant but my assumption was wrong and that is not the case.

The lavender model has the force adjustment dial on the sticks which doesn't seem to be part of the 3E variant....maybe that has something to do with the weight difference like you said.

BeardSpike BeardSpike New Leadjoy controller is up for preorders
