Convince me to not restart FFXI

You are going to start it again no matter what's said here anyway. Better get started early to get more summer vacation game time in there. :lol

I think about quitting WoW and going ba ck sometimes... BUT GENKAI 1!!! GENKAI 1 ! SCROLL, SPONGE, THE OTHER THING! OH MY GOD GENKAI 1! So in conclusion: how much has the exp loss been reduced by? I might come ba... AAAGH, NO! I hate that game!

This is the best reply in this thread.

Shit dawg, all we need is CroKevi and Mr. Lemming up in here and we got the whole gang together again.

A skosh late, but I'll poke on in and agree with Shogun in his acronymed agreement to uglyjoe's points... Though your MisterZimbu/MMO bickering does amuse me to few ends, it's for the best you opt against a resub. My reasons are many, but my patience to type them out is scant.

Things like Genkai 1 are very easy now. Have a level 75 friend solo it for you. Shouldn't take more than 3 hours.

Yeah, aren't you already playing FFXI again through FFXII?
Yes it is, without Matsuno's story or Sakimoto's music, now what's the point playing it without that?

FFXII's music beyond the opening has so far has been very forgettable. The love, I am not getting. I'm not too far, but the story at least has potential.

Tarutaru are the best.

The game ****ing sucks, and you have better things to do with your time, like play Valkyrie Profile 2.

/thread

collectively, more the half the players I felt at odds with had tarutaru avatars...the taru players seem the type that feel they have skills the entire time they're ****ing up and playing their job wrong /tarupunt

My roommate, the jackass he is, is starting up FFXI again, and I'm getting these strange pulls to go back.
Thing is, I can't really think of a reason not to. Money isn't an issue, and as long as I time manage, it's not that much of a sink. But there's gotta be some reason (and not ****ing WoW) to not go back.
Help me GAF!

Wait until PS3 gets a next-gen version of FFXI, then make a comeback.

Do they still **** dragoons up the ass every patch? I got a dragoon to level 64 and then eventually quit because square nerfed them every opportunity they got, effectively making them the most useless damage dealing class. The irony in this is I left for WoW, where I picked the hunter class and now blizzard is doing the exact same thing to me yet again.

I still think back to my old FFXI days though, and while the LFG in jeuno for 8 hours a day sucked ass, I did really enjoy the game when I actually got a group to play with.

It'll be 360 port. If all they're changing is the graphics, then the fundamental problem still remains (that is to say, the gameplay).

If anything I think their next-gen FFXI title will be developed on the PS3 first since they're already working on FFXIII and Vs FFXIII, then get ported to the PC and subsequently to the 360. The problem with FFXI is that it's not much of a beginner's MMORPG, too much grind, not easy enough, but then I'm not sure copying WOW would work for them.

Did you play before the 2 hour change? They gave DRG a new 2 hour that allows to some rather neat thing, like self skillchaining, erasing hate for someone else in your pt, etc. Then made Call Wyvern a 20 minute ability. Aside from that though, the job is the same as you left it, and SE doesn't seem like they want to change it anymore.

At least they're no longer the worst class! You can thank Puppetmaster for that.

Actually I love DRGs. :(

Yeah I left before the 2 hour change. Still, it doesn't seem like if I go back I'll be getting groups any easier, so I guess I'll just keep away.

I actaully love DRG in a exp PT (I play a NIN) They are the perfect SATA target/voker with thier hate sheding jumps, and most of them are so happy to exp they really bust ass in a PT ;)

I really love the art style of FFXI so much but for me the gameplay was just so eh. It took forever to walk anywhere, cost way to much to buy anything, and you spent all your time camping and not doing quests or exploring. Plus everyone was a total twink so you had to have the exact right job combo and perfect equipment set or no one would look your direction. Sigh.

"Convince" you? Hell, I don't feel a need to do that. One month of playing again will likely show you the error of your ways. Hours spent LFG (One day I had no interest to play my White Mage, so sat as my 21ish Samurai and spent some 7 hours LFG with only one invite, who filled the group before I could get up from my couch and sit in front of the computer to type a response) will break you VERY quickly. If that doesn't, then the level 15-75 grind on Worms, Crabs, and the occassional Beetle most certainly will.

I know it stopped me at 51 ~/_~

EDIT: The thought of picking up the game and playing again has occured to me... maybe after I'm done farming for Cenarion Circle rep. Hell, I still pay on the account I have Reiliese on, may as well use it once in awhile... >.>

Lots of the complaints being raised have been fixed in the expansion.

Expansion added new zones which encourage TP burn parties which gives a lot of the previously maligned DD new opportunities to level. Warrior , Monks and Samurai are very much in demand now.

The new 'assaults' which can be done with as few as 3 people, with the correct jobs, and offer incremental level caps (someone in your group has the right job but isn't fully leveled to 75) at 60, 70 and 75 allows for lots of possibilities. The gear you can trade for are also awesome, and nearly as good, if not better than the gear from Limbus Proto-Omega/Proto-Ultima fights.

I can't speak for WoW, I can only play 1 MMORPG at one time or my head will explode.

The cultural aspect is also great. I belong to a JP/NA HNMLS and I can confirm we JP are better. HHAHAHA, just kidding.

They fix that ****tarded "can't choose your realm" bullshit yet?

You can go to a world you like if your friend buys you a world pass and you enter it before joining the game.

This has always been the case.

It's a fantastic game and I would definitely return had I the time to spare.

I'm not going to try and convince you not to return.

JP button. :( :( :(

Yeah assault gear is great if you're not a mage, hoho. Unless you're a SMN, then you can have fun in Lebros Cavern.

Lebros can be done with 3 ppl. BLM, THF, RDM was our setup.
It is gimpy, but doable with plenty of time to spare. ideal is BLM/BLM/BLM.

The key is Damage over time spells and level 1 black magic.

FYI Yigito Gear is awesome.

Yeah, I've done it a few times as BLM. Soloing a ****ing rock was the most boring thing I've EVER done in this game. I just don't find Yigit worth it either, so I'm not worried about getting it. I care more about that Insomnia Earring.

deleted in-game stuff.

Haha i just zoned in FFXI mode without noticing and said a bunch of game specific stuff. Deleted.

Lebros is ok, its boring, but it can be done! we did it in 14 attacks.

What level is Insomia Earring again? Exactly.

I'm not saying Yigit sucks, but I'm not interested in what it has to offer given it's 5 pieces, with a rather huge AP requirement. That and I'm a ballista freak, Yigit won't help me at all in ballista. :P I usually don't play uncapped, it's not my thing I think it's a little too stale and wacky.

EDIT: Wait what's wrong with in game stuff? :(

I forget i think below 65(?). I dont think +15 hp/mp and resist sleep is that good, since resist sleep rarely resist it, it just makes it shorter, which means if you are slept, you're still in trouble in situations like dynamis.

Thanks for quoting my post, i just changed it :(
