Considering the Chief has been completely retextured, I was hoping for a more, um, updated image for the skin.
Looks like I'll be sticking with the standard, plain one.

Faceplates/stickers etc have always struck me as pointless kitsch, are people really getting these things en mass ?
guess it depends upon your idea of cool. i got two kinda neat ones that are supposed to be rare (like only 200 of each i believe, as they're numbered. i'd check but mine are shoved away in some box atm). i prefer the plain white one though.

I don't get it either. Problem is, even if they have an nice image or design, they don't match the white of the box itself and hence look tacked-on. The ones with stickers on the side look just as bad. If not worse actually.alistairw said:
The idolmaster one actually tries to match the white sides of the 360 itself, so by default it's the best one I've ever seen.
edit: the ones soco posted are also match the white box a bit which would make them look better than most I think.

I like the idea of faceplates but they are always too damned expensive in stores. If they were around $5 I'd collect them like trading cards.

Someone needs to make one with a terminator face on it using the power button as an eye . . . so at least when your xbox eventually dies you get a cool looking terminator with a blinking red eye.
One thing I never understood about the faceplates out there is they they are almost never designed with the 360's features in mind. They never work with or around the various ports, the disc tray, and especially the ring of light. They look exactly like they are: A cool image pasted over a faceplate, with bits missing and others distorted.
Mind you, I do like one faceplate... the original E3 limited edition. Classy, understated, fits a normal 360's colour scheme:

...this is the one faceplate that always stood out as great to me.....and it was like the first!

(iM@S one is pretty close to that.) Those faceplates, I could use. If the graphic extend all of the way to the edge, so that it then looks tacked on to the 360, I can't stand that look.
I would, though, LOVE to get ahold of the "console" one. That always cracked me up, and that one I'd make an exception for.

Looks great.
But on the other hand I find the prices of the faceplates a little too much...20e for a piece of plastic? no I don't think so.
