Coolest title screen/music?

Inspired by the post I just read in the latest GRAW thread...

I downloaded the menu music off the composer's website and it blew me away.

It actually really did...it's pretty amazing for being 55 seconds long.
Out of this gen, I have to say that Metroid Prime's title screen was freaking awesome the first time I saw it. The first new Metroid game in 8 years and the hype I had heard on GAF... hearing that music was just so damn cool. I knew the game was going to be awesome.

So any other games when you first saw/heard the title screen you knew it was going to be great?

Wave Race: Blue Storm.

The water effects were pretty cool at the outset of this gen, and the title music FRIGGIN ROCKS!

Metroid Prime

First game I thought of when I saw the thread title.

Vagrant Story has another good one, really sharp for a PS1 game.

Metal Gear Solid 2, goes without saying.

I gotta go with Metroid Prime here, coolest one I seen... the insides of a metroid plus the music that was fucking cool IMO.

Metroid Prime IMMEDIATELY comes to mind; it's what made me quickly realize how awesome the game would be when I played it release day. Maybe Super Mario 64 too because at the time I don't think I ever spent so much time on a title screen.

Metroid Prime was the first thing I tought also, its just so damn good

the Super Mario Bros 3 menu screen also deserves praise

super mario 64 face.

yoshis island

kh and kh 2 are nice

final fantasy games usually have awesome music.

Here are completely random opening songs or title screen songs that I like, which run the gamut:

- Myst
- Solstice
- Lost Vikings
- Civ 4
- Chrono Trigger
- MegaMan 2
- Max Payne 2
- Castlevania: SOTN

-Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 (REALLY gets you into it)
-SOCOM II: US Navy Seals (title screen...not so much)
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
-Halo: Combat Evolved
-Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
-Metroid Prime
-Pikmin 2 (wicked, wicked title screen and music)
-F-Zero GX

how could I forget megaman 2! the music rocks so fucking hard in that title screen.

Metal Gear Solid 2
Speaking of which, does anyone have an MP3 of this? It isn't on any of the soundtracks.

My top five picks:

1.) Panzer Dragoon Saga
2.) Skies of Arcadia
3.) Metroid Prime
4.) Metal Gear Solid
5.) Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty

Some of my all-time favorites are Mega Man 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, Final Fantasy VII, Super Metroid, and Phantasy Star II.

But despite the greatness of those intros, nothing can top Ninja Gaiden (NES).

I agree with NiGHTS and PSO.

Also like Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger, even the PSone version with the hot animated intro and new music.

Gotta agree with Metroid Prime, too.

Oh, and did no one mention Zelda: Ocarina of Time? I sat and stared at that for what seemed like hours when it originally came out.

Nobody else thought of Ridge Racer Type 4 right off the bat? The music is half the reason I still boot it up every six months or so and play it all afternoon.

Metroid Prime...Didn't even think of it before entering but yeah that's a great pick.

I was going to suggest pretty much any 16 bit Square RPG. Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, the Final Fantasy titles...

Metroid Prime – amazing design + groovy music = perfection
Zelda OOT – I must have watched that horse and listened to that music a thousand times.
Super Metroid – set the mood for the game perfectly.
Mario 64 – interactive Mario heads FTW!
Yoshi’s Island – especially when you completed it and got the new music

RR4's title screen has no music.
