Cop bodyslams girl student

Yikes you're supposed to get someone else to help you escort the troublemaker out the class not go apeshit on them. Yes, there are some kids who think the rules do not apply to them but that level he showed was way over the line.

They do. In my middle/high school if a kid is disrupting the class then the school security guard usually comes and takes the kid away from the class to the Dean's office and wait for their parents to come. Though if a kid is really disruptive or violent, the kid usually ends up getting pinned down by multiple security guards in the middle of class.

I do remember a scene in my school when a kid was caught stealing from another student and then he tried to run a security guard ended up tackling him to the ground and bunch of other guards came and dragged him away.

... not gonna lie, it's rather surreal to hear about "school security guards." I grew up in the 90s in Michigan, and I don't think our schools even had security guards. If they did, I never saw them. o_o;

I think the only time we ever saw police at the schools was for the DARE program, and the two officers who ran it were well liked even if we all knew the program was full of crap.

Was he supposed to pick the desk up and carry it outside with her in it? There's a lot of armchair specialists in this thread, but seriously, how do you remove someone from a desk and arrest them when they're being non-compliant without touching them? Was he supposed to get a rag and ether?

Wonderful.

Cop has history of race related issues

Studies of people failing to see black kids as kids

"She's no angel"

No, it's not a racial issue at all.

I was speaking to this comment not to the intentions of the officer or the issue of racial prejudice in America:

I just wonder how many cop defenders would still say the same stuff if it was some blonde white girl getting tossed around.

I take offense to being called a racist just because I agree with a general process. There needs to be order in all places including academic settings. These suggestions(I see them often) are toxic and create conflict more than intelligent dialogue.

You can't think of any other way than turning over a chair and dragging her out and throwing her across the room within 1 minute? How can you not problem solve this? You think this is the first time in history a teenage kid refused to leave class?

I've already answered this.

Additionally, dude is a powerlifter. He. Is. A. Power. Lifter. Yes. I absolutely see him picking up the desk with her in it a (more) reasonable solution than what actually happened.

Also, what's the deal with this fucking oft repeated "non-compliant" line? HE COULD HAVE SPOKEN TO HER.

There is at least one officer in here who is saying that this was the wrong thing to do, and people are still bending over backwards to absolve this turd of his actions when they are clearly incorrect.

Get the fuck out of here with this dismissive "armchair specialists" bullshit like we're not qualified to say when a girl should and shouldn't be juggled around by a powerlifter.

I think the point is that he went from "get out of the chair" to BODY SLAMMAJAMMA in like 2 seconds. The girl would have to leave eventually by some means, sure, but dude went from 0-ultra violence in like 2 seconds.

Compare this to that video of the drunk white kid who basically wouldn't leave that cafeteria because he wanted mac and cheese. If you don't see the difference between how people treat black kids vs white kids, I just don't know what to say.

Read the whole thread. I agree that it was definitely excessive force.

But before I pronounce my judgment, does anyone know what caused the cop to be called? I assume something serious must be going on for a teacher to come to that. So that'd be nice to know. It likely won't change that it was excessive, but I would still like to know for more information.

Yeah, confused about this. The two main people I noticed arguing the other side didn't do anything wrong I felt. They...had an unpopular opinion alright, but expressed that opinion in the context of the discussion. In fact, the personal attacks or out-of-line statements I saw were directed at those two rather than the other way around.

sigh...

When given video and textual evidence that this was unwarranted force (and force that may have gotten one killed) and they still decided to defend the officer's actions as if he had gently taken her into custody, I have little sympathy for a ban.

Victim blaming is a bannable offense.

Yup! All he did was give commands no real covo or anything. He acts as if he is above speaking to her and all she will understand is violence.

Have the other students and everyone else leave the classroom. Leave the girl in her seat, call her parents or guardian, have the officer watch the door. Boom. No violence.

Being supernaturally strong leading the need to use that much force

These God damned Saiyans are ruining our country!

This shit is sick. Can't believe people are defending it but it just leads me to believe they would do this to their own child if they were being a typical 15-year-old. Everybody else low key knows why you're trying to defend it, we don't need ten paragraphs asking what he was supposed to do. If you're that terrified of a non-violent 15-year-old you do not need to be in this line of work.

DAYM forgot about he mac and cheese loser. Sad when you break it down like that and people understand the difference but refuse to believe.

So supposedly this happened because she would not speak in class. Also she was new to the school. Teachers can be fucking dicks but getting a student dragged out of class by a cop because she would not speak? That does not sound right. If true, that teacher needs his ass kicked by her parent and that officer fired.

WTF? That's fucked up. In 5th grade, I remember we had a student in our class who never spoke. He just didn't. He was capable of speaking but no one ever heard him speak and the teacher never made him. But one day at lunch...he accidentally knocked over his milk carton and let out an "Oh shit!" and a few of us were lucky enough to hear it lol. That's the one and only time anyone at our school ever heard him talk.

Anyway...I can't fathom why a teacher would try forcing a student to talk or why a cop would be threatened by that or feel the need to restrain the student for not speaking...

Careful, you'll likely be banned if you side with cops.

Facebook comments here have been mixed from outrage, to "if it were my child I'd do the same thing", to diet racism.

Pretty disgusting overall.

SRO's in the carolinas have god complexes, and get away with whatever they want. When i was a sophomore, I had my head slammed into my bass amp in the band room without warning and then was handcuffed and dragged until I could stand up halfway out of the room. This SRO did the same shit to like 15 kids and only got punished after he got a 16 year old, his son's girlfriend, pregnant.

What the hell. That is so wrong. The dude then went and put his knee on her neck didn't he when she was on the ground right?

I smell a huge payout coming.

Thank you tax payers that would rather pay than fix the issues.

Yes, a thread about police brutality its certainly the best place To act like a passive aggressive twat about Neogaf's terms of service. Grow up.

Facebook comments from my local news:

What is disturbing is that Richland county school district has a "Black Parents Association". What happened to being equal. Shouldn't it just be a PTA, not BPTA?

If you disobey a law enforcement officer, you are to blame, not the officer. Who taught her she didn't have to comply with his instructions? The parents? The media?

We could sit here and say he couldve done this... He couldve done that... He was called to that room for a reason, obviously the teacher couldnt handle the situation... The video doesnt show the full situation, just the part where he takes action... Im sure the girl isnt a saint and she learned the hard way what happens when you dont follow the rules. Was he forceful, yeah but im sure she took him to that level... He has to deal with these thug teenagers day in day out... Good example is the teens shooting at the fair... Theses kinda kids need to be dealt with.

The amount of disrespect this girl has shown to authorities, as well as the other children in the classroom who want to learn, is inexcusable. After she is released from jail hopefully someone will be able to find a learning environment that works for her, and the other kids can get back to learning.

She was in the WRONG. . simple as that. . If you are making it.a black/white then you are ignorant!!!!!!
IF it happens the your children far to often... GUESS WHAT.. THEY NEED TO LISTEN
COMMON SENSE

I could go on, but I filled up my bingo card.

I hate this country sometimes. Conservatives right?

I work in a definite school to prison pipeline school

We have cops cuff kids for fighting on the regular

And I've never seen one manhandle a student in that manner

That is just disgusting

This is what I don't get. Ok let's say you're a crazy cop, wouldn't you by now realize that you are probably getting recorded. wouldnt "hmm like 15 other cops have been caught on video recently taking down black people, maybe I'll chill this time around wink wink" go through your head?

Imagine being a kid watching this shit?

Yes, they have been caught, but what happened to most of them?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unless something changed and I missed most of them walked away, so guys like this cop don't fear the repercussions. Until that changes, situations like this will keep happening.

Well they just get a paid vacation and then get cleared of wrong doing pretty much everytime, so its not like there are consequences.

I'm honestly more mad at the teacher. I understand calling for help but the minute she hit the floor I would had been "What are you doing, let her up?" I remember when I was a kid, if a kid was being disruptive and didn't want to leave, they would pull the chair outside the classroom with the kid in it and close the door.

Was she talking on the phone or just using it? If shes was just using it, write her up and let her be a dumbass.

No reaction from the students makes it seem like this is a school run by fear. "Don't say anything or you get slammed too"

Where I'm from if a officer is called to remove you from a class room. You had your chance of nice outcome. Expect to get strong armed if you resist.

No sympathy from me.

I mean, what onadesertisland posted was literally my first thought of what I would have done were I in that situation. The "drag the desk out of the classroom" option also seems like a good one.

Either way, it's pretty clear that this was not the right option. If the function was "minimize class disruptions" and this student were doing something to prevent that, clearly this course of action did not optimize that function, right? Even assuming this girl were doing something to actually disrupt the classroom and prevent other students from learning, if the cop just let her do that, maybe her actions disrupt one period. Maybe they even disrupt the entire day. Then, at the end of the day, you expel her. Class was disrupted for one day, no one experienced violence, class resumes as normal on Tuesday.

Also, on the topic of cops in school, it was pretty common where I grew up, in Virginia. Most schools had at least one officer on campus during hours. They were called Resource Officers. One just recently thwarted a school shooting plot, so they do serve a purpose. This particular officer, to me, doesn't seem to be serving his school well.

Hmm. I think Panda's reaction to the video was damn near as shocking as the video itself. Officer gave no fucks, and neither did Pandaman. Both taking L's as a result.

Just part of the ain't shit narrative black kids get fed on a daily. The system works.
