You know how Bioware took "inspiration" from various sci-fi's when creating Mass Effect? I kind of feel they went a little too far from taking "inspiration" from Farscape. Keep in mind Farscape ran from 1999-2003, and Mass Effect started in 2007.
Collector General from Mass Effect 2
A multi-limbed alien controlling ships (a certain biological ship mind you), with complete control over various aspects of the Controllers.
Pilot from Farscape
A multi-limbed alien controlling a biological (and quite alive) ship with almost complete control over various aspects of the ship. Note that both the Collector General and Pilot share a similar head structure, and if I could find a better picture of the General Collector, similar limb and body structure.
Wrex (Mass Effect)
An alien from a war torn race that specializes in combat and warfare with extreme warfare traditions. His starting battlesuit is blood red. Starts off with a "butt heads against" attitude with the protagonist only for it to bloom into a respectful "we're fellow soldiers and best friends" kind of friendship.
Ka D'Argo (Farscape)
Yeah...uh, heh. Just copy what I said exactly for Wrex. Seriously, I couldn't believe it when I met Wrex for the first time in Mass Effect and how he developed and I just kept saying to myself, "My god, they just ripped off Ka D'Argo beat for beat, holy shit!"
Liara T'Soni (Mass Effect)
From the alien Asari race, these mono-gendered (though quite female) aliens have the ability to "meld" with other people - they have the ability to share a nervous system, "read minds" per se, and various other things.
Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan (Farscape)
A blue alien race known as Delvians, they also have the ability to "meld" so to speak. She can share "unity" with other beings (two minds in one body, they can share thoughts, sensations, etc), and in her Order she's at a state where she can also share pain with another person. Though the Delvians aren't mono-genered (there are males and females), they do strike a very similar aspect to Asari.
Man, there are a lot more examples I could come up with including: Chricton vs Shephard (human commander of off put alien adventurers), Reapers vs Leviathan (biological alive warships), Saren vs Scorpius, etc. I think I'll leave it at this though. If you've watched Farscape and played through Mass Effect, I bet you've had similar thoughts as to mine. If you haven't watched Farscape, but loved Mass Effect, GO WATCH FARSCAPE! It's awesome, and you'll see where I'm coming from.
