Re: Chapter 4 alternate ending:

Make lots of mistakes when you're playing as Satoshi trying to save Naomi, allowing her to die. Then, before talking to Tohko in the infirmary, make sure you find Seiko's Cell Phone in the 1F hallway. Tohko will try to stab you, but her scissors will hit the cell phone in your front pocket, saving your life. The alternate end will follow from there -- though I find that particular alternate end to be the most confusing in the game, so good luck making heads or tails of what happened or why!

I just finished chapter 2. It was annoying that
running into ghost boy instantly causes a game over. Died twice cause of that kid. Argh. Do the other chapters involve running away from ghosts?

Occasionally, yes. Chapter 2's are probably the hardest to escape in the entire game, though.
Well, I guess one of the chapter 3 ghosts is a bit tough as well, but you can always have Yuka keep her scented beads so you have a one-time "get out of death free" card.

I actually avoided that part completely. xD I didn't even know it was there till someone asked me about it.

Also I made this so I don't have to see those blurry off screen shots of this scene:

The way I saw it was that it pretty much just shows the final moments of Yui in chapter 5 after she falls from the pentagram room. What I dont understand is why it was not used in chapter 5 rather than 4.

Completed the game and loved it. Definately worth the 20$. I really hope the sequel gets translated. My absolute favourite moments in the game were
when after getting away from creepy Morishige you meet this knight in shiny armour Kizami only to be shortly revealed he is batshit insane and Naomi watching herself hang Seiko. Do I even wanna know what was up with the exchapter 8 where Sachiko and red-eyes do _something_

Spoiler tag that...

I really don't appreciate that you posted that. I haven't gotten that far. Total jerk move...

EDIT: I see it has been edited. Thank you.

Well, I'm pretty sure I just found my favorite Wrong End (late Ch. 4 spoilers:)
Something bobs up from the pool..... I thought I got this one because I checked in the wrong spot in the pool (I failed in 4 different other spots previously, and only found something on my 5th try, as time was running out) but the FAQ seems to indicate that you get it by running out of time. What's the deal?

Indeed
There are actually two wrong ends at that specific point. Firstly the one you got which is timer running out, and second........... Draining the pool while the timer is going.

Does it only happen if you're searching in the pool while the timer runs out? What would've happened if the time ran out while I was outside of the pool? Does she just pop out of the pool and start talking?
And yeah, I did get that second one too. Pretty brutal.

Really loving the soundtrack, and I can't remember the last time I said that about a game. Those end-of-chapter tracks really get you pumped.

What is this? Xseed not doing the $=€ conversion? Blasphemy!

This game should get its own anime series :3.

//Was listening to the OST @ youtube and noticed that it's Wyrdwad who uploaded it <3. Chapter 3 second wing BGM is perhaps my favourite. The music track at the last playable bits in Chapter 5 gave me some serious Resident Evil Remake wibes.

No, it's just the timer, so in or out it's that same Wrong End
.
Definitely agree about the tracks that play at the end of the chapters when it says "To be continued in...". Always hyped for the next.

Finally started this and played through chapter 1. Still not past the point where I stopped reading the manga, but I'm getting close. Wish I never started it since what happens would have been more shocking obviously had I not known about it already. I think the story is better told through this medium. The voice acting and atmosphere are really good even if I don't actually think it's scary. Also the
futile attempt at using the bucket to save Seiko
feels like a bigger kick in the balls when you're the one in control.

Ok I'm lacking 1 wrong end from chapter 5 and my collection is complete! Anyone can tell which one I'm missing?
I got the ritual starts all over again one, running out of time at the very end, Ayumi going nuts, Doll killing Kishinuma and Giving wrong items to Saichiko.

Also missing 7 nametags but I think i'll skip em. This game needs trophies!

You might be missing the one
where Naomi flips out and kills everyone while dragging Seiko's body.
All you have to do is wait until
Satoshi and Yuka meet up with Ayumi and Yoshiki, then backtrack and try to go down the hallway Naomi traversed -- the one you couldn't go down before.

Finished it last night, greatly enjoyed it. Disappointed at the contents of the last couple Extra chapters though, I was hoping for something more like the main game.

Jury's still out on that. We may need to see how much sales of the first game pick up around Christmastime, and again around the Vita's launch in February. But I'll be pushing for it, so keep your fingers crossed and tell all your friends to buy, buy, buy! ;)

Can someone give a quick description of the Corpse Party games and manga? From what I gather there's two games, Blood Covered and Book of Shadows; and two manga series, Blood Covered and Musume.

The Blood Covered game/manga seem to follow the same story. And Book of Shadows is an expansion of the story? What's Musume about?

In regards to Book of Shadows, I'll just quote wyrdwad

Book of Shadows really IS a proper sequel. Not in the sense that its events take place after the story of the first game (though that's true for one chapter), but in the sense that it really does a lot to expand upon and flesh out the story of the first game. Not counting the one chapter that advances the story, half the game takes place BEFORE Corpse Party, showing some of the events leading up to it... and the other half takes place after one of the wrong endings from the original game, showing a series of "what if" scenarios that help flesh out a lot of the side characters who didn't get much screen time the first time around (like Mayu and Morishige).

It's definitely a must-play for fans of the original, and we're really hoping the first game ends up selling well so we can justify working on the second to the powers that be. Because let me tell you, I *really* want to work on Book of Shadows. ;)

As for Musume, apparently it contains many of the same characters, though some are changed (as well as the groups they wind up in) but it is an alternate story that seems to focus more on fanservice and perverse jokes/deaths, but is still a horror.

Corpse Party is finally out in Europe! Just bought my copy, now it's only a question of downloading it and installing.

I bought it (I really shouldn't have as I have a huge backlog, but whatevs). Man, I can't believe that was the good ending of chapter 1...

I loved how this game messes with you - just when you feel happy or relieved... it tears your heart out man. Just when you've buttered your... well nevermind :)

My favorite part was
when Morishige finds out about Mayu, that was fucked up and some of the most genuine sounding screaming I've heard in a game.

Chapter 2 done. Now that I'm past where I stopped reading the manga, I can be shocked with the rest of you. That ending sure was something. It was actually
worse than some of the bad ends 0_o
. Speaking of those, I really like the one where you have to read all 5 notes. I kind of saw it coming, but that didn't make it any less awesome.

Finished chapter 3. I'm actually starting to get a bit freaked out. It could be the fact it's past 5 AM and I've been playing since 3, but I'm getting a sense of anxiety that I wasn't expecting to get in a game with sprites. This is actually pretty scary.

Beat it. Awesome
and depressing :(
ending. Definitely making my top 10 for the year. Would love to get Book of Shadows, but that's probably not likely :(

I can't seem to bring myself to play chapter 2

I don't want to know what happens when I know it's depressing :-( (and I'm a scaredy-cat)

played chapter 1 during Thanksgiving with my cousin's bf watching me play so maybe if I see them again at Christmas we can get through Chapter 2 :p

I just finished this off... well... I finished it 90 minutes ago. Bought this at launch, played it in the dark with headphones on, got a bad end, and couldn't bear to play the game for a while because I got creeped the hell out. My advice: yeah, don't do that.

I ended up playing the majority of this on Christmas and today, and man, I am glad I picked this up again! What a rush! The music and the casting were great. The ending was so...
awesome yet upsetting, because Seiko didn't deserve to be forgotten :/
. My favourite parts were:
Morishige looking at Mayu's insides, getting the call and screaming--the seiyuu did a great job; meeting Kizami, thinking, "oh hey, he looks pretty attractive and decent... maybe he--OH SHIT HE'S CHASING A LITTLE GIRL WITH A KNIFE, RUN DAMMIT"; and letting Yuka get kidnapped, the game going on like normal for an hour, and oh wait--dead end!

I'm glad I've been holding out on making my Top 10 GOTYs list now, outside of waiting to get Super Mario 3D Land and Kirby Mass Attack this Christmas. Very glad I picked this up and played it to completion.

Mao Hamamoto composed for this, huh? It's some really good work.

Question for you all - When I am looking at the ending list page, there are open stars which are endings I haven't unlocked yet, but there are also full yellow stars and full white stars. What is the difference between these two?

Yellow stars are story progressing endings for that chapter and white ones are bad ends. Blue is alternate stuff.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Finished chapter 1, played some of chap 2, and I both like and hate this game. It has a really nice atmosphere and is surprisingly disturbing at times... and the story is quite interesting as well, which keeps me going.

At the same time, I have a number of problems with this game (some which I can still accept), but the biggest one for me is the frustrating game design. Instant-deaths that appear out of nowhere, which leads to me dying, forcing me to watch a boring, overly long death sequence everytime that can't be skipped.
Or another example towards the end of chapter 1, I got really pissed off in a particular room where I died several times because I had no idea what to do... just a lot of trial-and-error followed by a lengthy death sequence everytime until I gave up and checked an faq (and still had problems because of the clunky controls). I dunno, maybe I'm not as forgiving as others.
Hopefully, the game has less of these 'action' sequences going forward, because I still intend to keep playing.
