Corrupted Data - PS3, any way to remove file?

So i was just cleaning the fridge on my PS3 and deleting some games i don't play anymore.

I tried to delete Pain and the PS3 froze on the 'deleting please wait' screen...the little clock stopped spinning so it was def locked up and not just waiting... so i had no choice to switch off.

Now, where Pain used to to be there's a broken folder with the title 'corrupted data' - when i try to delete that the system hangs again.

obviously there's only so many times i dare try to delete it in case i fuck everything up... i've also tried the game data and save data folders to see if there's an errant file there but they are both empty... so i guess the file is partially deleted?

has anyone had this issue? Is there any way to remove the file without formatting the drive?

HALP!

I had a corrupted data issue and it would freeze the PS3. Basically i had to keep restarting until the PS3 accepted to delete it.

mine isn;t doing that.... it just gives an error code if i try to access it... really hope this isn;t going to cause some terrible issue next time i install something.

Jeez this was a lot easier when we had cartridges and all you had to do was blow on them once in a while.
