Cost of PC Gaming VS Console Gaming Analyzed

Like, The weekly humble bundle is giving away 6 games for 15 dollars, and 4 if you spend 5. And they're all good games.

Part of me wants to pull the trigger on Freedom Planet, but I already own Brawlhalla...

Hrmm....

Last weeks Origin bundle was awesome. Bought it for us and we are loving PVZ Garden Warfare. Granted i have it on Xbox thru ea access but now we can just play on the PC.

I just looked at Brawlhalla..straight up smashbros rip but looks fun.

Right? And the Might and Magic HB is worth it for Clash of Heroes alone. I am still flabberghasted that they never made a sequel to Clash of Heroes, that game is amazing.

And you're getting TWENTY games for 12 bucks!

Pretty sure this was a thread about people's spending habits and now look what you've all done. This is why we can't have nice things.

It is NeoGaf, of course this was going to happen. But to be honest it has been pretty civil so far.

Never tried any Might and Magic games. To be honest I don't want to update the spreadsheet anymore today =)

I feel PC gamers(myself included) spend more on hardware components than actual games. Where as I have already spent probably 2x as much on XB1 games than I spent on the launch day XB1.

Yeah like the poster above you, cost of entry is important. My PC is double duty between work and project vs play. I have almost 2k into my PC. Did I need the case I used? No. Did I need some of the extras? Not really. It is scale able which means it can be a pretty cheap system. I added up my PS4 day one costs and that was almost $800 for what I ended up with. Still a pretty high cost there too.

Really? Did you forget they you have to upgrade your PC every two years? Locked in with drm? Not being able to sell games? That most PC ports are usually broken?

Reasons why people pay a premium on consoles is to not deal with PC bullshit that comes along with it. To much hassle for most people plus lack of first parties.

what year is this? 2005?

Very true. With what I've bought, I could've had a PS4 and probably a dozen games. Luckily, my PC goes well beyond just video games so, in my case, it's value is absolutely unrivaled by consoles.

You can't seriously back this up, this is different for EVERYONE.
If you wait on sales (consoles and / or PC) you can game for cheap no matter witch console.
(except nintendo first party)

Even if you buy a $1500 PC you can still only buy in the December sale of steam every year, game for years but only pay $10 for EVERY AAA game ever and still be cheaper off then a $400 console and buying games

You missed the whole thread and point. This isnt for everyone but only myself. was comparing my spending habits for both sides. For me PC is obviously the way to go. Different for everyone and that was the point. I was asking about others spending habits not making an arguement for either side

owww right then I really did mis that then :O
I found it interesting but I really thought it was about the hole console vs pc stuff.

Sorry about that :)

I think price is a primary reason why I mostly game on PC. That, and the fact that I rarely play games as soon as they're released anymore. For instance, I only just finished Sleeping Dogs and Arkham Origins on the PC and I bought both when they were hugely discounted on Steam. I can't do that on the current or even previous generation of consoles since the price doesn't come down nearly as drastically or as fast.

I pretty much buy consoles to play the exclusives on them, but if they're multi-platform, I generally tend to get the PC version.

Well the cost of PC gaming would be higher overall compared to all my consoles likely combined, but only because PC is my main platform where I buy the most titles.

Still on a per title basis I spend far less on PC, and that's not just wait months or a year after it releases to get super deep discounts. I haven't spent $60 since 2011, because of sites like GMG that offer discounts on new or pre-ordered games.

Hardware wise there wasn't a huge gap in cost, as I made my last PC last 6 or so years throughout college, and bought mid-range parts around $800 (PS3 cost $600). My new PC is a bit more expensive, just because I had more money to get a gtx 980, but the card is overkill for most games now when a 970 would've been better bang for buck.

At this point with consoles getting beat in multi-platform games by an almost low-end GPU like the gtx 750ti, I could feasibly build a PC for around the price of a console to get similar or better performance.

Yeah pretty much the same for me on the full priced PC games. I recently bought GTA full price but that was about it. After the initial buy in costs the PC has proven much cheaper with more content total. I recently bought a handful of Xbox One exclusives and I spent nearly $200 bucks on 3-4 games. But I am a sucker for Forza Horizon.
