Costco return policy question

Douchebag. Yes, me.
I bought a 32" Vizio TV from Costco in December. It has a problem where the TV buzzes when the backlight is set below 90, and apparently this only effects 25% of the sets. I want to exchange it for another one, however, I have lost my reciept for it. I still have the box and all the materials, however.

Does costco log the serial number info on sets, and if I use my membership and the same card, would they have a record of me purchasing it? Or would they let me exchange it for another one without a reciept?

Actually, one more question: Do I need the box? Do I need to put the remote and manuals in the box? Or will they take just the TV itself?

if you check out the thread on this tv in the avs forum you will see that many people are having the same problem

Yeah, I've been reading about it all day. Seems that almost everyone with the 37" vizio exchanged it for one that didn't buzz. I think I may try to exchange it for the 37" version for $200 more.

That's seriously the only problem I have with this set. It's absolutely gorgeous, and dirt cheap as well.

Here is Costco's return policy on your TV:

"Bring it back any time for a refund of your purchase price."

That's it. Just bring it in and get another one, the new year model is out.

And that's not with just electronics. It's with EVERYTHING they sell. People got full refunds on half-eaten hams. I kid you not. As long as it's more than half and they can prove the purchase, Costco will return anything.

Except PCs.

you definatley have to return it with the remote. No boxes needed, no receipt , but without the remote, they wont take it back

Yes, Costco's return policy is very, very generous. That said, I couldn't get an exchange on a pair of glasses frames that broke though. Still, most major electronics should really be bought at Costco.

There are strong restrictions on booze, too, although I still managed to return an unopened bottle of tequila without a receipt (they said it was my "one freebie because I didn't know". I think it helped that I looked apologetic).
