Couch Co Op on Xbox for me and my kids?

Can any of you recommend a couple good couch co op games that would be fun to play with my 6yr old son and 6yr old step son for the Xbox? Maybe even my wife too, she loves watching me play games like COD Zombies and Friday the 13th but hasn't ever really gamed, I bought us UNO but there is no way to go against each other which stinks but I kind of figured that would be the case but still chanced it.

Regarding the kids it doesn't have to be a 3 player game, many times I game with them on different days since I only have my son on the weekends. Any good Double Dragon style games or any other suggestions would be great. I already have and enjoy with them....

Rayman, Disney Infinity, Skylanders, Plants vs Zombies, Rocket League, Castle Crashers, Killer Instinct. I am sure there are a couple others but I cant think right now and im at work so I cant look. My son is starting to enjoy COD, we do some split screen on that but of course not Zombies and he does love Overwatch against bots which he plays by himself but I enjoy watching.....(the 2 boys enjoy Minecraft sometimes but haven't asked for it lately and I hate it, never understood the fascination with that game)

I am thinking about getting the new Cars 3 game when it comes out if reviews are good, looks like it could be a fun Mario Kart type game but not sure I would want to pay $60 for it and those movie games can be hit or miss.

Sonic all stars racing from 360 is backwards compatable and is great 4 player game. Also Loves in a Dangerous space time is a great 4 player game.

Everything Lego
Battleblock Theater
If he likes overwatch try playing Borderlands with him

I am not crazy about the Lego games but maybe, I actually got stuck on one of them back in the day with my son on the 360 and it turned me off lol.

I used to love Sonic Racing, don't have it anymore so would have to rebuy it. I didn't know Borderlands was split screen, I used to play it online with friends on the 360 but never on the Xbox One

Did you play Overcooked yet? It's excellent for couch co-op

Best answer.

Also, Rayman Legends is great and has a lot of content. My girlfriend and I had quite some fun playing Kalimba as well, though that is 2-player only. It is a great and underrated game. The soundtrack alone makes it a joy to play.

Regarding LEGO games: The best one is currently free with Gold, LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga.

Funny you say that because I have looked at it multiple times and no one was interested when I showed them. Ill have to check out a couple Youtube videos on it.

And yes my son and I played the crap out of Rayman, ill have to add that to my list

My niece and nephew really loved Castle Crashers when I showed it to them last time they visited.

Also they thought Octo-dad was hilarious, you can play that in co op too.

You also have the new co-pilot feature on Xbox that lets you operate the same game with multiple controllers so that you can help out somone else. You could also use this with certain types of games to play together

+1 for this suggestion. Halo MCC is great too if you enjoy those games.

My son does like Halo toys and I just downloaded Halo Reach last weekend since it was in my BC section and we started the campaign, it glitched and we couldn't get passed a certain part so we stopped. I did mention to him if he likes this I would get us the Master Chief Collection so I will keep that in mind thanks.

I will definitely look more into Overcooked and any other suggestions.

Diablo 3. 4 player co op at its finest.

...for 6 year olds...?

My random suggestions:-

Minecraft (either survival or decide to build something in Creative mode)
Overcooked - it might be a little complex for 6 year olds - depends how they are on games
Lego - I've played a fair bit of the story missions with my kids and 6 is a good age for them.

We have a few of the lego games and they seem to prefer the Lego Marvel Superheroes one the most. It has an open world city you can drop down into and they love just running around driving cars, blowing stuff up, or giving themselves planes and things.

Lovers in a danegrous space time might work if they are on the guns.

It's even better on the X1 because handsome collection can do 4p split screen. call your wife and have a full party!

regarding the Lego games, one of them is GWG right now. give them a chance again, they're still great fun for adults. Undercover City is quite different from the usual lego formula so you can try that one as well.

battleblock theater is another co-op game from the makers of castle crashers so i'm rec'ing it again

Definitely Battleblock theater.

  • Cooperation
  • Sabatoging each other for the purpose of shenanigans
  • Adorable cutscenes

I will definitely check some of these out, That Lego Marvel one sounds perfect if its open world, I remember I wasn't crazy about one of the Star Wars ones but if one is free with Gold ill grab it and give it another chance.

Maybe you could try some games in copilot too. Max and the curse of brotherhood is fun and short and I think you can map their controllers to do the jumps and moving while you are doing the drawings and something like that

Power Rangers

Speed Runners (local multi)

Hydro Thunder (split screen)

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Joy Ride Turbo (basically Mario Kart)

Forza/CoD/Sports Games

Perfect Dark

Minecraft

Goat Simulator

IDARB

All Lego Games

Rocket League

These are all games my 5 and 9 year old play with me. Some more than others. Top suggestions in BOLD.

Great suggestions, I did leave off JoyRide, Hydro Thunder and Goat Simulator. They don't seem as into the racing games and Goat Simulator is meh......Overcooked being hard worries me so maybe not but ill still watch some videos on it.

seeing a lot of Battleblock theatre, I just watched the trailer and looks good, is it a hard game?

some of the challenges and user maps are hard but the game is pretty doable to beat with kids

it's harder to resist the urge of screwing your partner to be honest

Last question from me then ill just check back later for any other suggestions. Have any of you played the Cartoon Network game that came out a few months ago? My son likes those shows and I believe the price dropped from $30 to $20 and I think its 4 player co op.

I have family game night with my wife and 2 kids (5&7) almost every Friday night. Here are the games that we have enoyed:

- Knight Squad
- Minecraft
- Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time
- Rayman Legends
- Speed Runners (current GwG)
- Overcooked
- Castle Crashers
- Badland

It's not that it's hard to play so much as challenging to play perfectly. Each stage gives you a rating out of 3 stars. When my wife (who is not a gamer) and I played, we shot for 3 stars on every stage, but you can just aim for 1 star and progress just fine
