Could flag football be an Olympic sport?

You basically made a claim that no other nation could field a team of football players with the physical prowess of US football players notwithstanding their actual skill level.

That is just ridiculous.
Your right that is ridiculous but I was taking into account skill too..wasnt in that one specific post but on the next post I elaborated with it.

They can produce the players..I dont know if they would be competitive though. I know..I know it sounds extremley ridiculous but I have never seen these things thats why Im saying it...a japanese quarteback? Just saying that boggles my mind. It might sound douchey but oh well, Im completely serious here.

Google Timmy Chang. Asian american QB with just about every collegiate passing record

Never heard of him pretty sure hes not in the NFL. I dont really watch collegiate football btw. And hes asian-american. If he was in the olympics hed be playing for us.

googled: I never heard of him lol..And hes only 30 years old.

I am fascinated though.

Nope.

Eyeshield 21 thread?

Actual playing time in football is 11 minutes
11 Minutes of Action
According to a Wall Street Journal study of four recent broadcasts, and similar estimates by researchers, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes.

In other words, if you tally up everything that happens between the time the ball is snapped and the play is whistled dead by the officials, there's barely enough time to properly masturbate.

Seems to be true

Im not sure what crack you guys are smoking but each quarter is 15 mins. Its impossible for the whole game to be 11 mins. You all sound like you dont know shit about football but trying to argue it like you do.

Dude, you have two links that break down a football game. Click click and read.
I love football and this doesn't bother me at all. Why so defensive?

A quarter is 15 mins though. Whats actual playing time? When the ball is alive? So you saying when a qb is at the line of scrimmage making adjustments that is not playing time?
I'm not saying anything and I'm not high but wish I was.
They just counted when the ball is alive, which is probably not the most fair way of measuring things. But still, it's interesting.

In American football the things that happen between plays is just as important as things that happen during plays. The timing that people come up with isn't accurate with how the game is actually played.

The thing that MMK and LQX doesn't understand is that the clock continues to tick down before play is restarted, hence where 75% of the time disappears.

But if you want to see (nearly) non-stop action, you would be watching rugby. Nobody hiding behind body armour either.

It would be pretty fun to watch, to be honest. Football is easily America's most popular sport, and there are legitimately thousands of athletes who are worthy to compete at the olympics. I mean, you can imagine the NFL's best offensive line protecting Aaron Rodgers as he hands the ball to Adrian Peterson or throws a touchdown to Ochocinco (followed by a dance). It would be a blast.

Would be borderline cheating..we are raised playing football. I cant even believe Im saying this but I dont think any other nation even have men with the physical capabilities that ours do to even play football. Nigerian football players??? Chinese football players?? Even sounds dumb.
Wtf, is this real life

I really enjoy football, but it is a whole event of breaks and intermissions.
And wasting the timer is an artifice of the game.

Real football has a similar problem for different reasons.

90mins of run time. 50-60 of actual ball rolling.
The down time is basically players faking injury and slow reposition of side kicks, goal kicks, free kicks and throw-in.
Referees hardly enforce those rules, so it sucks, but is "part of the game".

Thankfully there are no intervals during the run time of a half.

And you dont understand that even if theres no action and the clock is ticking that theres as much of a game going on when the players are all full on speed running. Its a mental game, one audible at the line of scrimmage could make a huge play or a bust.

Lol at the hiding behind body armor crap. Have your average rugby player get hit by a defensive lineman with no pads. They would be dead.
