Counter-Strike: Global Offensive official site is live (kinda), beta starting today

I really want to play this but I just haven't had the time. Hopefully I'll get a couple hours this weekend.

That trailer was silly. Lol

Ack. Annoying. Very annoying.
When did you get the beta? Mine is from that first run of codes given at public events, it might be something about the way you received it. I'm sure they'll sort it out in time, and if not support will be able to give you the 10%+preorder items, after the fact.

One day, a couple of months ago (?), I just received a notification in Steam saying that I'd been invited to the beta. I clicked to add the game to my library, but haven't done anything else.

If they'll honor the 10% after the fact, then I'm not upset. But I want the game on launch day, and I want the 10% discount. But I don't want to purchase it now, despite the warnings, and risk having everything wiped when this bug is corrected. <shrug>

Yes, the AWPer Hand for the Sniper is a CS: GO pre-order bonus.

Cool I already preordered the game but I dont think I have seen the AWPer in my inventory yet.

Anyway, I played the game for a couple of hours yesterday, im really enjoying it, though I was hoping for people to communicate more with voice, I guess I just need to find a good commynity server to play in with regulars like back in the day.

I just went to pre-purchase on Steam. It says on the page that I already own the game. I figured that was because I've had access to the beta. (I think I've had access to the beta for a long time. I've just never gotten around to it.)

So I tried to go through with the purchase. But, now, on the purchase page, it tells me -- again -- that I already own the game and that I will not receive an additional copy.

Any idea what is going on? I did not buy the game.

I had the exact same thing, I know I hadn't prepurchased. So I did it and a seperate icon came up in my library so I think it's just because we had the beta early. Atleast I hope so...

Do PS3 buyers get the game on PC for free as well? I haven't heard anything about it but it worked that way with Portal 2.

If anyone isn't familiar with P2 on PS3 it is tied to your Steam account.

I've never played Counter Strike before and I'm wondering more and more with all the videos I see..... Is there no Aim Down Sights?

Sigh. I'm gonna be really sad when I lose my beta access, as I won't be able to afford this for a while. I don't really play it that often, but it's really nice to jump into and play for a bit when I feel like it.

And skill.

Think you meant to say skittles.

Will make you headshot all day.

K/M support is listed on the PSN Store page.

Awesome. I keep hoping someone will toss KB&M support into an FPS on PS3 that ends up selling well, possibly starting a trend. Then maybe we'll see an end to the controller only nonsense we've seen this gen.

Yeah yeah, I know about UT3. What an impact that one made.

Kb&m support on the PS3 is easy because the XMB firmware has generic HID drivers. I don't know why it hasn't caught on (practicality, perhaps?), but UT3 and CS:GO are the only two games that come to mind.

Edit: Oops, wrong tab.

I hate the idea personally. I don't want to play against people using kbm, it's way easier.

I think it really, really isn't.

Game definitely is a mixture between the both games, but the movement alone makes it feel more like 1.6 in my opinion.

The more I play it, the more it feels like Source. Even movement has a lot of similarities with Source. Here's some off the top of my head:

  1. Any kind of jumping makes a sound.
  2. Jump distance and height.
  3. Inability to tap crouch to peek over boxes.
  4. Bunny hopping down ramps.

How did you feel it was like 1.6?

I haven't played CS:S and bought it on a whim that i'll only be saving $8 come December for the Christmas sale.

I like the graphics, ragdoll physics, and original sounds. But did they really need to blur the AWP crosshair when moving? That's one aspect that made original CS so fun. Makes jumping to peak less viable since the crosshair is shaking & blurry. Maybe i'll get used to it like the rest of CS:GO

I think the scope is useless 1.5 seconds after scoping too, so no more quick scoping or scope peeking, not sure how I feel about this.

Pretty much forces snipers to camp but on the other hand forces them to be scoped more often so they are vulnerable on other angles.

Im with you. Add world/nade physics to that list. I do like the game overall though, much more than I used to, and definitely a lot more than CSS.

I thought it felt longer... T_T
