But the problem is that it wasn't fun. It was just boring and that's been the problem with almost every blockbuster this summer.

I can safely say that fast five was easily the only enjoyable summer blockbuster this year. I haven't seen Planet of the Apes prequel yet but yeah Fast Five was so enjoyable it felt like it didn't belong this year.

I liked Apes, Super 8, Captain America....and XMen was borderline. Aside from that, Horrible Bosses was probably my most enjoyable film of the summer. So for me, this was one of the better summers for movies in quite some time. But Cowbores and Staleians? Awful film.

Loved this movie. It's just a fun summer flick that you can't take too seriously. The people hating on it probably had high expectations or expected a rich, detailed plot. It's mindless fun with Daniel Craig being a badass and Olivia Wilde looking hot. That's it. Fun movie!

Apes beats Fast Five.

Olivia Wilde god damn.

Anyway this was a decent movie. Nothing spectacular. I didn't how every time Daniel Craigs character was just about to get killed the aliens came and attacked. I also thought the alien designs were dumb. Why are aliens always expert fighers and complete brutes? Hard to believe species like that would last long enough to discover space travel. Why can't we have some Greys in these movies. Anyway it was fun but forgettable.

I like this movie. Sure, it's pretty straight-forward but sometimes I just want to see a good action flick and this was it. Also, the cinematography was stunning. Will buy the Blu-ray!

Oh, the ending did make me a bit depressed though. Craig's character reminds me a bit of myself.
Forever alone!!! FML

Saw it last week. Loved Ford (it was seriously awesome to see him finally let loose and chew the scenery), loved Craig, and always great to see Clancy Brown, one of the best modern character actors of our time
I was really bummed his character died early
The movie itself though just had too much stupidity and typical blockbuster cliches. The alien designs were flat out lazy and uninspired. They were literally
mini Cloverfields
running around like dumb brute apes and their CGI was quite weak.

Also, simply no respect for the audience's intelligence in so many spots.
The wimpy little kid pokes one of the hulking aliens with his knife and it just drops dead instantly? Yet they can take multiple gun shots to the head without slowing down? Uh huh. Also, the movie should have been titled "Aliens Fight Cowboys and Native Americans who conveniently forget to pick up their fallen opponents' weapons in battle." Finale was lame. The same old, "We just have to blow up the central core to get rid of 'em all" thread. And as mentioned before, if Olivia Wilde's alien character can rematerialize after having her body consumed with fire, why couldn't she have survived the explosion?

I enjoyed it here and there for what it was, a fun, pulp action movie but there was just too much holding it back from being a solid, quality experience IMHO.

Am I the only one who thought it was a copout that
Olivia Wilde just went "Oh hey, I'm an alien, I'm just assuming this human form" and that was pretty much all we got on that aspect of her... like.. What does she really look like? How does she look like a human? How did she get to earth? That part just felt very very very lazy. Sure we don't need everything explained in a movie's plot, but that just felt... again, lazy.

It's OK dude. It's a script partly helmed by Damon Lindelof. So if that part was his doing,
her origin not being expounded on in any way that makes sense
isn't lazy writing, it's just one of those awesomely mystical and spiritually profound things that is cool all on its own and simply doesn't need to be explained in any way in order to be compelling!

Blu-ray will have a 17 minute longer extended version

I may have finally found the perfect movie to put me to sleep

Watched last night. After seeing the same trailer 5 times this year for different movies....

Save your $3 folks, not worth it at all. Girl I went with literally fell asleep. I almost did.

Wasnt a good western, wasnt a good sci-fi, wasnt a good action movie...wasnt a good anything.

Wild Wild West runs cirlces around this film. And that says a lot I think.

(Obviously Serenity is the best cowboy+alien movie to date)

There was a lot cut from the movie just by watching the hacked and uneven paced theatrical cut. Curious to see if this adds anything to the movie. It wasn't as bad as some are saying, but wasn't great either. Fairly bland and by the books. Only Jon Favreau could take Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, combine them in a western and make it utterly boring.
