CRAZY Accident on I-95 in Baltimore

There is a certain quality to the cadence of Caribbean accents that's easy to mistake as sounding dispassionate.

Can't help but laugh at the comments here and elsewhere criticizing the guy for not helping. Look like we got some fucking superheroes who can bound across elevated highways in a single leap, walk on frozen roads like it's their backyard, dodge careening vehicles with their perfect night vision, and withstand the heat of a blazing truck.

Fucking shit. At first it was sucky due to the screeching brakes, but then the exploding tanker elevated that into slightly traumatizing. Can't even imagine the emotions of the cameraman and other people on the other side of the highway just watching. The only consolation here is that only two people died in this. RIP to the victims, and bless the people who survived going forward.

This, yo.

Seriously, fuck that guy. Stop recording and call 911, asshole.

He already did call 911. Are people not listening to him at all????

Video shows a horrific accident that led to two people dying and half the people in this thread are focusing on the minute details of how this guy reacted to the explosion in real-time....

Naw, I focused on the guy asking people to call 911 while he keeps recording.

That really pissed me off.

EDIT: Just read the above. Anyway, at the end he said he would call 911 again. He'd called beforehand and was telling other people to do so.

Save your energy, champ.

At the end of the video he says he called 911 before he filmed and he's shutting the video off to call 911 again. And even if he didn't call 911, they're on a fucking major interstate; chances are at least one person also called 911. Calm your nerves.

Edit: beaten haha

Got to love GAF sometimes.

Yes, I bet you all would have made a miraculous leap over the 3-story gap between the elevated highways, only to stop the oncoming waves of 70.000lbs trucks on an icy road with your bare freaking hands.

Dude called 911 before he filmed this and called 911 again right after. He clearly says so in this video.
Also, rule one of first aid is to not get your own ass in danger, by the way.

Seriously. This guy isn't Nathan Drake.

People criticizing him for not helping wtf was he supposed to do, hop the overpass? If anything calling 911 twice and documenting the events are some of the best things he could've done. It helps law enforcement get a better idea of what exactly went down.

Eerily similar to what happened nearly 13 years ago on Interstate 95 just a few miles to the south of this accident, except in that a tanker truck had slid off a flyover onto the median of 95 and exploded. Nobody could slow down in time and 4 people were killed.

I remember that. The driver had a heart attack or something and went off the overpass.

The safest thing guy did was stay where he was at. When it comes to conditions like and at night the best thing to do is stay where you're and call 911.

This looked like the behind the scenes of some action movie. Really terrible. Be careful out there people.
It really did. Straight outta Mad Max: Fury Road.
Do not go out in these icy roads if you don't have to, my DMV people. Stay safe and drive well below the speed limit if you find yourself on these icy roads.

Michael Bay directing traffic on I-95 damn, hope that driver survived O.O

Also "somebody better call 911" while he's recording on his phone lmao

Definitely a Michael Bay like explosion.

All the 911 posts are a little reactive. It was pretty obvious that this had been going on for at least a short time before this and he even says he's going to call 911 AGAIN at the end. He would probably be lucky to get through after that gas truck exploded.

why do so many truck drivers drive like reckless arseholes

Why are you singling out the truck drivers in what looks like an unavoidable collision? The only thing inherent to their driving that was worse than the numerous cars you hear screeching to a halt and colliding with each other beforehand is the fact that their vehicles are bigger. No one did anything wrong in this scenario as far as the video shows.

Because he was the only one in that traffic jam with a cellphone, right?

Also, if it's anything like Toronto, I'm pretty sure the people monitoring the traffic cameras would have noticed a GIANT FIREBALL and dispatched emergency services right away.

It's an icy freaking road and they are coming in blind.

I meant the tanker driver

Only on neogaf would there be people critizing this guy. What was he to do? Sure he could've called 911 again but other than that he was helpless. Was he supposed to go to the other side of the road in pitch black darkness, risk smoke inhalation, or getting killed by oncoming cars since they wouldn't be able to see him in the dark? He did exactly what everyone here would do in that situation. Stay put and wait for the professional swho are properly equipped to help

He couldn't have gone to the other side of the highway even if he tried. That part is split and elevated for a very long distance so unless he could levitate, there was nothing he could do.

Exactly, he's not trained to help out nor is it his job. He shouldn't put himself in danger. He called 911 and then filmed, which I have no issue with. He did all he could.

The people in this thread bitching must be on some Spiderman level shit, otherwise should be less judgemental.

Like how the guy filming can bitch all he likes but offers absolutely no help for the situation. Scum

Try to understand the situation before acting like he was in the wrong. He called 911 before and after he filmed the video. Recording the incident may lead investigators to find out exactly what happened, who was at fault if anyone, and how to prevent things in the future. Just because you don't like his commentary doesn't make him scum.
